I slammed the heavy, velvet-bound tome shut with a thud that echoed through the empty archive like a cannon shot. Dust motes danced in the soft, floating mage-light, but I didn't care to watch them settle. I stared at the embossed gold lettering on the leather cover, my stomach performing a series of complicated, nervous gymnastics.
"Nope," I whispered to the silent rows of ancient bookshelves. "Absolutely not. I do not need to read any more of this."
