Foreword:
Since the true essence of this story only begins to reveal itself in the middle act, releasing it now might lead to a bit of a misunderstanding. To prevent that, I've decided to drop a few "leaks" regarding what's to come:
"Wait, what's happening? Why have I lived through this same day over and over again? Is the calendar broken, or is it my phone? Or am I just dreaming? This... this is Puberty Syndrome. So, who exactly is the one suffering from it this time?"
"Huh?! What did you just say? You're the daughter Yukino and I had in the future? And you traveled back in time to get here? You've got to be kidding me, right?"
"You're joking... You five Nakano sisters can actually swap bodies?! How is that even possible? Don't tell me this is part of the Puberty Syndrome too!?"
"You think I'm just being cheeky? Wrong. I'm just searching for 'the real thing.' Isn't that what the President taught me? Hehe~!"
The Grand Blueprint
This book is a massive crossover, weaving together the quintuplets of The Quintessential Quintuplets (Go-toubun), the ideological clashes of Oregairu, the psychological romantic warfare of Kaguya-sama: Love is War, and the supernatural phenomena of Bunny Girl Senpai (Puberty Syndrome).
In the upcoming chapters, the Nakano quintuplets, Shinomiya Kaguya, Yukinoshita Yukino, and the rest will take turns falling victim to Puberty Syndrome. Kamukura Izuru will be the one to navigate these crises alongside them, experiencing the highs and lows of youth as they grow up together.
Addressing Two Major Points
2. Who is Kamukura Izuru?
Many have asked: Is this the same Kamukura Izuru from Danganronpa 2? Let me be clear: He is, and he isn't.
In Danganronpa lore, there are two versions of Kamukura Izuru. The first is the artificial personality overwritten onto Hajime Hinata by the Hope's Peak Academy researchers—this is the version most readers know. That is not who I am writing.
The other Kamukura Izuru is the original founder of Hope's Peak Academy. In the original series, there are no detailed records of his personality, his past, or even the full extent of his talents; he remains a total mystery. My version of Izuru is this founder.
This makes him a semi-original character—almost entirely original, in fact. I ask that you let your perception of him evolve naturally as the story unfolds.
2. Is the Protagonist "Toxic"?
I've seen complaints that Izuru has a "foul mouth" or acts like a fool.
But I ask you: is his mouth truly foul? If you look closely, does he ever use profanity? Does he insult people's families or scream slurs? No. He is simply brutally honest. He points out the fact that Itsuki is a bit of a glutton and that Yukino is a bit flat. Is that being toxic? Or is it just blunt honesty? Surely that's better than those who call him "foul-mouthed" while using actual profanity themselves, right?
3. Power Scaling and Family Backgrounds
Finally, some wonder why Yukino dares to confront Kaguya directly, or why students aren't "afraid" of the Student Council President's status.
Think back to your own high school days. When you're in school or falling in love, do you really sit there calculating the net worth and political backing of the person you're talking to? This isn't a soap opera.
Neither Yukino, Kaguya, nor Izuru are the type of people to hide behind their family names. If they were, this would be a business ledger, not a romance novel. In fact, in their respective series, their family backgrounds are usually hindrances. Kaguya can be grounded by a single servant from the main house, and Yukino's entire summer can be ruined by one command from her mother.
Their struggle to be themselves despite those names is what makes the story "real."
