Dad said I had added too much mayonnaise and asked if everything was alright with me. He said I paid too much attention to cooking and haven't messed up a meal since eleven years old when I was still learning how to cook. There is no way I could really tell him what was wrong. I told him that I was feeling a little cold from being in the swimming pool and training for long hours at school.
I forced myself to take a few bites of sandwich, and tried to seem cheerful by making up stories about funny things that never happened at school to throw him off his observation.
Mom scolded the hell out of me when she called. She had also gotten a call from the daycare. I also gave her the same cooked up excuse I had given Dad. Sandwiches are not exactly my favorite snacks to eat, but I still like them so much. But the I had just now tasted awful. I don't know if it is me or if it's because. . . . .
