While a great deal of the marks are hidden, some are well visible. All so because Brooke never gives me a rest. She creates new ones when the old ones starts to fade. It was too late for me to turn away from Dad so he would not see it. When his eyes fell on me, I freeze still like I had just been let out from one of Calyx's cold swimming pool tortures.

"Gweneth." Dad calls out my name. Trailing off on the last syllable. Staring at my legs with an unreadable look.

Eyes soon narrowing with intense scrutiny. He saw it. He has seen it. What am I going to tell him? I did not know he was home. I did not want this to be seen or known by my family. It is better if they don't know. Having them worry would make it feel even worse. But now Dad does. And it doesn't seem like trying to blowing it off as nothing would suffice.

"What are those? Are they marks or injuries?"

"No Dad. They are just—"
