"Ahhhh… it's done," said Rose Mitsuki, leaning back in her chair, letting her arms dangle to her sides. The words dripped out on a shaky sigh, her eyelids heavy and her shoulders aching from hours hunched over her desk. She had just finished her assignment for AP Biology at 1:53 in the morning, a detailed essay on the way the human body's nervous system functions. The essay had swallowed up her entire spring break. Now, the exhaustion pressed on her bones, but underneath it all bloomed a surge of satisfaction, tangled with relief. The pride of finally finishing mingled with the frustration of the effort it took. For Rose, this was a relief among reliefs—a hard-won victory after nights of lost sleep and countless drafts.
