Chapter 28 - Reporters At The Cafe

Luciano took the coffee from her.

He was about to sit down and drink it when Estrella suddenly pushed him toward the door.

"What are you still waiting for?" she said.

Luciano frowned slightly. Did she expect him to drink coffee while walking?

Before he could say anything, she had already shoved him out.

Max watched the entire scene in shock.

"H-Hey… you—" he tried to stop her.

He had been bracing himself for Luciano's anger.

Instead, Luciano merely shook his head in disbelief and walked away, a cup of coffee in hand.

Max stood there, completely stunned.

Estrella shut the door and turned to him. "Are you okay?"

Max nodded quickly. "I am."

"That's great," she said casually, walking behind the counter, ready to start work.

But Max immediately stepped in front of her.

"Just sit down. I'll handle everything."

There was no way he would let Luciano's wife work as a waitress in his café. If anything went wrong, he would be the one to suffer.

And just like that, the entire morning passed with Max doing all the work while Estrella did nothing.

Estrella hated how cautious he was acting.

She had tried to convince him, but he refused to listen.

Frustrated, she sat in a corner and scrolled through her phone.

The first headline she saw made her frown.

"Mr. Banks Buys Entire District for His Wife."

Which wife?

Estrella blinked in confusion. Did Luciano have another wife?

She tapped the video attached.

A familiar man appeared on the screen.

"She owns the entire district," he announced.

Then the property transfer document flashed—

Her name.

Estrella froze.

She recognized the man. He was the district's property manager.

Before she could process it fully, the café door chimed.

She didn't look up immediately.

"Seems like Luciano doesn't care about you."

The voice was smooth. Refined. Completely out of place.

Estrella looked up—

—and paused.

The woman standing at the entrance looked like she had stepped out of a magazine. Elegant. Untouchable.

Behind her stood two men in black.

Tania.

Luciano's mother.

She looked even more refined than the last time they met.

"So, you work here," Tania said, her gaze sweeping the café with open disdain.

Estrella narrowed her eyes slightly. What was this woman up to now?

One of the men pulled out a chair, and Tania sat gracefully.

"I'm here to talk business," she said calmly. "Divorce Luciano."

Estrella raised a brow. "Why should I?"

Tania placed a cheque on the table.

"Take this and divorce him."

Estrella glanced at it.

Generous.

Very generous.

Tania smirked, certain of victory.

But then—

"I refuse."

The smile on Tania's face vanished.

"I wanted to do this the easy way," she said coldly. "But since you're not willing to cooperate…"

Her gaze sharpened.

"I'll buy this café and burn it down."

Silence fell.

She expected fear.

Instead—

Estrella let out a small laugh and placed her phone in front of her.

The video began to play.

Tania's expression changed as she watched.

The cheque on the table suddenly looked… insignificant.

For someone who owned an entire district—

It was nothing.

Her fingers curled.

She hadn't expected this.

She had assumed Luciano acted on impulse.

But clearly—

There was more to this marriage than she knew.

Seeing the faint smugness on Estrella's face made something in her chest tighten.

She wanted to slap her.

But she held back.

She didn't yet know how far Luciano would go for this girl.

Taking a slow breath, she stood.

"I'll be back for you."

Estrella smiled. "I'll be waiting."

Tania turned and walked toward the door.

But just as she reached it—

"I might agree," Estrella added lazily, "if you add three more zeros."

Tania paused.

Her eyes narrowed as she glanced at her bodyguard.

He gave a subtle nod.

She let out a faint scoff.

"Turns out you aren't that naive after all," she murmured.

Then she left.

Max rushed over immediately.

He hadn't heard the conversation, but the tension alone told him enough.

"Who was that?" he asked.

"Just an annoying fly," Estrella replied casually.

Her gaze returned to her phone.

Why would Luciano buy her an entire district?

Just to make their marriage believable?

He hadn't even told her his plan.

Yet she had trusted him.

Without realizing it.

Since when did she rely on someone else to handle her problems?

And yet—

He hadn't disappointed.

If anything—

His move was outrageous.

And… strangely satisfying.

For once, she didn't have to fight alone.

"WHAT THE HELL?!"

Max's sudden shout snapped her out of her thoughts.

She looked up. "What is it?"

Max stared at her, completely stunned.

"You… own the district?!"
