Chapter 63 - chapter 63

At the apartment, Elsa is dressed in a top and a Jean trouser and is seated on the couch watching TV with Lucy dressed in a top and a Jean trouser. Suddenly, Elsa phone buzzed on the table. She picked it up and read a text: her car had arrived and was parked outside—a sleek, dark blue sedan.

Elsa and Lucy rushed to the window and looked down. Lucy squealed in excitement. Elsa felt a flicker of happiness, though it was tempered by mixed emotions; the car had been bought with money from sleeping with Jordin, and she wasn't entirely proud of how she earned it. Still, she couldn't deny the thrill of having a brand-new car of her own.

"Let's head downstairs!" Lucy gasped.

They hurried down to the building entrance, where a delivery representative named Cleo was waiting beside the pristine vehicle.

Cleo smiled warmly as they approached. "Good afternoon! Are you Elsa? I'm Cleo from Elite Motors, and it's my pleasure to deliver your brand-new sedan today. Everything is fully registered, inspected, and ready to go. If you'll just sign right here on this digital pad, the keys are all yours." He handed over the polished chrome key fob, adding, "Drive safely, and enjoy the ride!"

Elsa thanked him with a polite smile, and Cleo departed, leaving the two friends to admire the car.

Lucy immediately ran her fingers along the smooth, glossy paint before peering inside. "The interior is so beautiful and new! The steering wheel is so shiny—oh, my eyes!" she declared happily.

Elsa couldn't help but chuckle at Lucy's dramatic enthusiasm. The interior was immaculate, featuring plush passenger seating and a spotless back seat. After Cleo left, Elsa unlocked the doors. Eager to try it out, Lucy hopped in and slipped into the driver's seat.

"You can have the honors of sitting in the driver's seat first," Elsa said generously.

Lucy squealed with delight. "Are you sure?"

"Positive," Elsa replied, walking around to take the passenger seat.

Once they were settled, Lucy turned to Elsa with her bright green eyes. "Let's go for a tiny, tiny drive."

Elsa smiled softly. "I guess we should."

Lucy started the engine with a smooth purr. "We finally have a car!"

"Yes, and it feels incredible," Elsa said. "I'm so glad you can drive. We can go to new places together, take road trips..."

Lucy nodded, shifting into drive and gently pulling away from the curb. They cruised around the neighborhood. The afternoon breeze drifted through the open windows, fluttering Elsa's brown hair and brushing comfortably against Lucy's neatly packed black hair.

As they drove, Elsa watched Lucy expertly navigate a sharp turn. A fleeting thought crossed her mind—she wondered what she herself was actually good at. Lucy could drive, while Elsa felt her only recent contribution had been the money from Jordin. But she quickly shook the heavy thought away, determined to turn a new page and earn her own living cleanly from now on.

"What do you think of my driving skills, Elsa?" Lucy asked, glancing over with a grin.

"It's superb," Elsa replied, giving her a reassuring thumbs-up.

"Thanks!" Lucy beamed.

As they cruised down a quieter stretch of the road, their conversation drifted to lighter topics.

"So, what kind of road trip playlists should we make for next weekend?" Lucy asked, keeping her eyes on the road.

"Definitely some indie pop and modern musics," Elsa suggested. "And we'll need plenty of road trip snacks—maybe some spicy chips and iced coffee."

"Ooh, yes! We should stop by that new cafe downtown on Tuesday to test out their iced lattes," Lucy agreed, signaling as they made another smooth turn back toward their street. "I'm just so glad we have the freedom to just get up and go wherever we want now."

"True, Elsa said, she was glad she was not at the orphange anymore she and Lucy, that place had been great and good but being stuck in just the orphaage was just not so nice mostly when otjer kids could go out with their parents and hang out where they wanted to.

Later that evening, back in the comfort of their apartment, the excitement of the afternoon still lingered. Deciding to unwind, they headed into the kitchen to put together a quick snack. Elsa washed a fresh batch of strawberries and placed them neatly into a bowl, while Lucy retrieved a bag of popcorn from the snack drawer.

Carrying their treats into the parlor, Elsa set the bowl of strawberries on the table alongside a fresh bag of popcorn meant just for her. Lucy curled up on the opposite couch, her legs tucked comfortably underneath her as she ripped open her own bag of popcorn and turned her attention back to the TV.

As Elsa took a seat and grabbed a handful of her own popcorn, Lucy turned to look at her.

"Since tomorrow is Sunday, let's go out for a longer drive," Lucy proposed, her eyes gleaming.

Elsa grinned. "I would love that."

"Okay!" Lucy said happily, turning back to watch the show on the screen.

Eating a sweet strawberry, Elsa looked at the television, then over at Lucy. She thought to herself that life wasn't all that bad. Sure, the car had been funded by Jordin Marson's money, but she resolved right then and there that she was stepping away from that tainted life for good. She was going to be a strong, independent woman, working honestly for her own future.

While Lucy thought now she was going to drive a new car it felt so good and she wanted to explore around with Elsa as they would use the car, they would go out, enjoy picnics together, go on trips and Lucy thought about Madison she would have to tell Elsa about Madison but not now, they had time for that and that could wait.
