The Law That Bends Even Gods

The gods are not infallible.

They enforce, they judge, they curse. They grant life and take it away. To mortals, they appear as absolute—omniscient, merciless, unerring. And yet, the world is older than they are. The laws of the universe do not bend entirely to their will.

Among these laws is one older than time itself, one they do not control, one they cannot fully see: the law of balance.

The law of balance is simple in name, yet cruel in practice. Every act of destruction must be countered by creation. Every power granted carries a cost. Every curse given… carries consequences the gods cannot predict.

It does not bend for kings, or priests, or even the gods themselves. It is impartial. It is unyielding. It watches. It waits.

And so it happened with Elroy.

The gods descended to punish him for his sins—countless lives spilled, mercy ignored, pride that could rival a god. They intended to break him, to force him into suffering under the sun until death claimed him. They cursed him to walk only at night, to burn beneath the light of day.

The entire reason the world isn't simply changed however the gods want is because of this law. For example, If a god deleted an entire nation, It could cause the creation of demons and hell due to such mass death. There are infinite possibilities.
