"Your new hairstyle looks good on you, by the way," Jean said, still looking at me, a small smile playing on his lips. "You didn't have it last night. When did you get it cut?"
"Last night, after I left your home," I replied. I let out a quiet breath, still unable to believe that I had functioned the entire day without even a moment of sleep last night. "I still can't believe I'm still functioning without sleeping a single blink last night. Did you get any sleep?"
"Not really," he admitted. "I tried, but I couldn't. I can't say I'm functioning normally though. I've been feeling dizzy, and I've been drowsy throughout the day." He paused, then added, "By the way, are you coming today?"
"Coming? Where?" I asked, genuinely clueless and confused.
"To my place," he said. "As my bodyguard, remember?"
The words immediately pulled something tight in my chest. I didn't want to think about that again.
