Chapter 2 First Arrival! The Giant Axe Pirates!

Blue sky, white clouds.

Waves, beach.

Inside the coconut grove, around the burnt-out campfire, the drunken pirates lay sprawled about, some still clutching their wine glasses and muttering incoherently.

A boy with thick black hair leaned against a coconut tree, staring blankly for a while. Then, the cool morning sea breeze blew by, and he couldn't help but shiver.

Three philosophical questions: Who am I? Where do I come from? Where am I going?

As the sun climbed overhead, the pirates gradually woke up. Pirate leader Giant Axe Wieger shook his head, still groggy from a hangover, and stood up from the sand, his steps unsteady. Seeing the dazed boy, he looked displeased, walked over, and slapped him.

"Hey, Lister, what are you daydreaming about? Aren't you going to prepare water and food for us?"

"ah?"

People are scary, they can scare you to death. The boy was so frightened that he jumped up, looking panicked.

Old John, the first mate and helmsman with a hideous scar on his face, laughed.

"Hahaha, Lister, you just hit someone, and you're still not over it? You've paid your dues, so from today onwards, you're a member of our Giant Axe Pirates. Hurry up and prepare some food for us, or we'll throw you into the sea to feed the fish."

"Yes, yes..."

Lister quickly found the pirates' supplies, a pile of looted boxes. He rummaged through them and found dried meat, bread, and a few vegetables. He then instructed his two henchmen to prepare breakfast for the fifteen pirates.

While the pirates ate breakfast, Lister sat down and sorted through the memories in his mind.

"One Piece? East Blue?"

"Because he was able to cook delicious food, he was forcibly invited to join the Giant Axe Pirates. After plundering a merchant ship last night, he was forced to kill the merchant ship's guards, fell into fear of the Navy, and felt lost about the future, resulting in cardiac arrest."

Lister was speechless. Had he scared himself to death?

However, fate is a strange thing; his death brought him a new life.

"From this day forward, I am Liszt!"

Liszt said to himself, looking up as sunlight streamed through the leaves. He squinted slightly. New life, how wonderful!

The only annoying thing was the noisy chatter of the pirates.

"Hey, Lister!"

Old John carried a wild boar three times his size, tossed it lightly, and the giant boar with its sharp, white tusks slammed heavily to the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust.

"I think you can turn it into a delicious dinner." Old John brought the scimitar to his lips and licked away the blood.

"certainly!"

Lister, knife in hand, and his two helpers began to deal with the wild boar, while old John walked toward Captain Wiegel.

Beside Wiegard sat his weapon, a broad, blood-red battle axe, sitting on a wooden crate, his gaze sweeping back and forth like a dragon surveying its territory.

Seeing Lister cleaning up the wild boar, Wiegel nodded in satisfaction and laughed, "It seems our cook has come to terms with reality. Old John, your idea is brilliant."

"He would be a good cook." Old John sat down at the base of the coconut tree.

"Perhaps we could make him our head chef," Wiegel agreed.

"Before that, we should repair the boat first."

Lister was indeed a good cook. A sumptuous dinner added a highlight to the evening's revelry. The roasted pork, smeared with honey, was golden and crispy, and the special spicy pork tongue, in particular, received praise from the captain.

"Old John, I finally understand why you wanted a chef." Wieger leaned against the box, gently stroking his bulging belly.

Old John, chewing on a sweet grass and exuding the air of someone smoking a cigar, said, "He's more capable than I thought. Perhaps we should reward him a little?"

"Yes, we should give him a little reward so he can make even better food," the boatswain chimed in.

"He who eats another's food is bound to him," and the other pirates joined in the commotion.

"Liszt, Liszt…"

Liszt finished his dinner in the corner; as a newcomer, he couldn't yet join the veterans in the revelry.

Amidst the cheers of the pirates, he approached the campfire.

Wiegel downed a large wooden glass of rum and said, "Lister, everyone is very satisfied with your performance, so I'm going to reward you. What do you want?"

...

"Stay close to me, Lister. It's dangerous for you here."

Inside the island, in the dense forest.

Lister gripped his dagger, following closely behind Old John, with two strong pirates protecting him on either side.

Old John, holding a scimitar, crouched low, his eyes sharp as an eagle's, searching every potentially dangerous spot.

"You should have asked the captain for 100,000 Berries instead of coming to the forest to die," Old John said reproachfully.

Lister, imitating old John, bent over, his eyes darting around, and said, "Uncle John, I hope to find more ingredients to make better food. Isn't that a chef's duty?"

"Shh!"

Old John suddenly stopped and pushed aside the leaves in front of him.

Following the gaps between the trees, Lister saw a saber-toothed tiger lying on a rock, leisurely basking in the sun.

"Our dinner is sorted!" Old John exclaimed happily.

"You must protect Lister."

The pirates standing on either side of Lister immediately moved closer, sandwiching Lister in the middle and providing tight "protection".

Old John had already leaped out, nimbly bouncing twice on the tree trunk before landing next to the saber-toothed tiger.

"roar!"

The saber-toothed tiger noticed the uninvited guests while Old John was speaking. It crouched low and pounced as soon as Old John landed.

"Good timing!"

Old John showed no fear, his body moving like a falling leaf as he nimbly dodged the onrushing tiger, his scimitar flashing like lightning as he slashed upwards.

puff!

Blood splattered, and in just one exchange, the overlord of the forest was wounded, with a half-foot-long gash cut open in his abdomen by a scimitar.

The two pirates who were "protecting" Lister cheered loudly.

"Go, John!"

"Big brother, take it down!"

Lister was also surprised and said, "So strong!"

The bald-headed Haize on the left immediately said, "Of course! Brother John is a great pirate who came back alive from the Grand Line!"

"Really?" Lister exclaimed.

The red-haired pirate on the right also said, "Of course, that was when Brother John was young. It's a pity that Brother John has never mentioned it. We only heard it from the captain."

roar!

The injury ignited the saber-toothed tiger's ferocity; instead of fleeing, it charged at old John with even greater ferocity.

Old John, as agile as a monkey, darted around the saber-toothed tiger, occasionally using his sharp scimitar to bleed it. Soon, the mighty saber-toothed tiger was covered in wounds and its movements became sluggish. Old John seized the opportunity and killed the saber-toothed tiger with a single blow.

Lister and the other two approached. Old John sat beside the tiger's carcass, panting. The loss of his strength made him feel the ruthlessness of time.

On the way back, Lister approached old John and said ingratiatingly, "Uncle John, you're amazing!"

Old John glanced at Lister.

"I wish I were as good as you, no, even half as good. Then you wouldn't have to protect me during boarding maneuvers, and I could even help you kill the enemy. You can never encounter anything unexpected on the high seas!" Lister said with worry in his eyes.

Old John thought for a moment and said, "I can teach you some skills."

"Really? That's great!"
