His crimson eyes swept over the untouched food on the table, and his heart sank.
The corruption had spread even further across his body. Crimson chains glowed beneath his skin, wrapping around his neck, shoulders, and the exposed parts of his arms. His vision had begun to blur around the edges, yet none of it mattered.
Wenzhi wasn't here.
He immediately turned toward the door, intending to search the entire base for him. But before he could reach for the handle, the door slid inward.
Wenzhi walked in.
Layers upon layers of clothing buried his frame, a lollipop resting lazily between his lips. The door hissed shut behind him.
His grey eyes traveled over Xinyuan from head to toe. "You look like shit."
That was all he said before walking straight past him.
