Chapter 1 - Episode 1: The Old Debt

The office of Harrison Tech was very high up in a tall building in Paris. It was late at night. Outside the large windows, the city lights looked like small stars. Inside the room, it was very quiet. The air felt cold.

James Harrison was a 32-year-old Alpha. He was the CEO of this big company. He was a tall man with strong shoulders. He always wore expensive suits. Usually, James was the boss of everyone. People were afraid of him because he was a powerful Alpha. But tonight, James felt nervous.

He stood by his large mahogany desk. He was looking at an old piece of paper. This was a contract. His father had signed it twenty years ago. The contract said that James must marry the son of the Volkov family. The Volkov family was a dangerous Mafia family from Russia.

When they were children, James and the Volkov son were engaged. It was a business deal between two fathers. James had not seen the boy in many years. He remembered a small, quiet boy with pale skin. James did not want to marry a stranger. He wanted to marry for his own reasons.

"Just sign the paper, James," a soft voice said.

James looked up. His current fiancé, Leo, was sitting on a leather chair. Leo was a beautiful Omega. He was twenty-six years old. He was wearing a diamond engagement ring that James had given him last month. Leo was a social climber. He loved James's money and the Harrison name.

"If you sign this document, the old contract is over," Leo said. He walked over to James and touched his arm. "We can get married next month. The Volkov family cannot stop us. They are in Italy. They have forgotten about you."

James looked at the pen in his hand. His father, the old Mr. Harrison, was also in the room.

"Leo is right, son," his father said. "The Volkov boy was a weak Alpha. He moved away five years ago. He is not a threat to us. Sign the paper so we can merge with Leo's family instead. We need the money from Leo's father to grow the company."

James sighed. He felt a strange weight in his chest. His Alpha instincts told him something was wrong. An Alpha usually knows when danger is near. But he looked at Leo's smiling face and decided to trust his father.

"Fine," James said. His voice was deep and tired. "I will sign it. I am the CEO of Harrison Tech. I should choose my own husband."

James put the pen to the paper. He was about to write his name.

BAM!

The heavy wood doors of the office flew open. They hit the walls with a loud sound like a gun. Everyone in the room jumped. Leo screamed a little bit and hid behind James.

The air in the office suddenly changed. It became very heavy and hot. It felt like a storm was coming inside the building.

A man walked into the light. He was about 25 years old. He was very tall, even taller than James. He wore a long, black velvet coat. His hair was dark and messy. But his eyes were the most shocking part. They were not normal. They were a bright, predatory violet color.

The man had a very strong scent. It smelled like rain and old power.

James felt his legs go weak. For the first time in his life, his inner Alpha wanted to hide. His heart was beating very fast. He dropped the pen on the floor.

The young man walked into the room. He did not look at Leo. He did not look at James's father. He only looked at James. His steps were slow and confident, like a tiger hunting a deer.

"Who are you?" James's father shouted. "This is a private meeting!"

The young man did not stop. He walked right up to the desk. He stood only a few inches away from James. He was so close that James could feel the heat coming off his body.

"I am not here for a meeting," the young man said. His voice was like a low growl. It was deep and smooth.

This was Smith Volkov.

"Smith?" James whispered. His voice was shaking. "You... you were a child. You were supposed to be in Italy."

Smith smiled, but it was not a kind smile. It was the smile of a winner.

"I grew up, James," Smith said. He reached out with a large hand. He grabbed James's silk tie and pulled him closer. "I changed. I am not the weak Alpha boy you remember. I am an Enigma."

The room went silent. An Enigma was very rare. They were more powerful than Alphas. They were the true kings of the world.

Leo stepped forward, looking angry. "Leave him alone! James is engaged to me! We are signing the papers to cancel your old contract right now!"

Smith finally looked at Leo. His violet eyes flashed with anger. A wave of dark energy hit the room. Leo fell to his knees, gasping for air. He couldn't breathe because Smith's power was too strong.

"The contract cannot be canceled," Smith said. He turned back to James. He leaned down and whispered into James's ear. His breath was warm against James's skin.

"You do not belong to this weak Omega. And you do not belong to this company. Our fathers signed you to me in blood twenty years ago."

Smith gripped the tie tighter, forcing James to look into his violet eyes.

"I have come to collect my debt, James Harrison. From tonight, you belong to me.
