Chapter 2 - first and last true love ( part -2)

All the school kids returned home after the fair, and after that, everything went back to normal. School continued as usual. But something had changed—she stopped calling me "bhaiya," and suddenly, she stopped talking to me as well.

From that day on, whenever she saw me, she would just smile. I actually liked her the way she used to be before. I kept wondering why she didn't talk to me like she used to. Slowly, I started developing feelings for her. But I didn't want her to know, because I kept thinking—she used to call me "bhaiya," so how could I even think like that?

I tried my best to stay away from her, but as time passed, I came to know from someone else that she had liked me for a long time. Hearing that made me really happy. After that, whenever she saw me, she would smile, and I would smile back at her.

Once, she uploaded a reel from someone else's Instagram ID. In that reel, beside her own video, she had written "A.R" with a heart. After seeing that, I completely believed what I had heard—that she liked me.

We started talking a little, but both of us were very shy—especially me, I was even more shy than her.

One day, there was a fair in my village. There was a shop where you could get your name engraved on a ring. All my friends went there. One of my friends, Rishi, made a ring with his and his girlfriend's initials. Another friend, who loved bikes, got "Rider Subhash" written on his ring.

I also felt like making one. I didn't know what to do, but in the end, I asked them to engrave "A.R" inside a heart. The ring cost 20 rupees. I started wearing that ring, even to school.

One day in school, during lunch break, a boy came to me. He was close to both of us. He saw my ring and asked who "A" was. Actually, he already knew, because he was the one who had told me that she liked me. He was in class 5.

He suddenly took my ring and ran to her, showing it to her. I got really scared—my heartbeat became very fast. She just smiled after seeing it.

After school ended, I was walking home, and she started following me. She asked me to stop. I was already very nervous. She came close to me and asked, "Who is 'A'? Tell me."

I couldn't say a single word. For about five minutes, I just stood there silently. She kept insisting, asking again and again. This went on for many days.

Finally, I decided that no matter what happens, I would tell her.

That day, just like before, she asked me to stop and again asked, "Will you tell me who 'A' is?" Then she said herself, "I know who it is… it's Aditi from another school, right?" Her name actually was Aditi.

Again, I couldn't say anything for five minutes. But after a lot of effort, I finally said very softly, "It's you." My voice was so low that she didn't hear it. She said, "Say it again."

I took a deep breath and said it louder, "It's you."

After hearing this, she suddenly ran away crying. I didn't understand why she cried. I was completely confused. When I reached home, I kept thinking about her.

After some time, she messaged me on Instagram from her sister's ID… and from that day on, we started talking regularly.
