Chapter 20 - Chapter 19 The Ruins

Marietta and Anne Faith stood amidst the church's wreckage, surrounded by malevolent shadows and the acrid scent of brimstone. The walls crumbled around them.

Marietta pulled her sister with a fierce embrace, tears soaking Anne Faith's hair. "We have to get out of here," she said, her voice muffled against her shoulder. "The church is collapsing. We can't stay in this place of darkness."

As if on cue, the church's walls crumbled, sending dust and debris raining down upon them. Marietta and Anne Faith stumbled through the wreckage, their hands clasped tightly, desperate to escape the abyssal energies that still lingered in the air.

They emerged into the stormy night, the wind howling like a chorus of the damned. The sky was a deep, foreboding purple, and the moon hung low and sickly, as if it too had been touched by the darkness.

Marietta turned to Anne Faith, her eyes searching her sister's face. "We have to find a way to stop the Crowned-Deep," she said, her voice firm with determination. "We can't let it consume everything we hold dear."

Anne Faith nodded, her expression grim. "We'll need to gather our strength, our allies," she said. "And we'll have to face the darkness head-on. There's no other way."

Together, the sisters set off into the storm, their hearts heavy with loss and their spirits burrowed by the miracle of making it out. They knew the road ahead would be long and treacherous, but they also knew they would face it together, as long as they had each other.

As they walked, the wind carried a faint, mournful whisper – a warning from The Crowned-Deep, a reminder that the darkness was always waiting, patient and relentless. But Marietta and Anne Faith stood tall, their love and determination imbued within them a beacon against the abyss. They would fight, they would resist, and they would never let hell claim what was rightfully theirs.
