At the same time, Mira stood facing a Green Wyvern. The usual gentle smile on her face had completely disappeared, replaced by a cold, killing intent.
"Take Over — Satan Soul."
A massive black magic circle appeared in the sky as Mira released all her magic power. Dark energy surged outward, sweeping across the surroundings. Facing the wyvern's furious roar and its diving claws, Mira didn't retreat—instead, she charged forward and engaged it in close combat.
The wyvern's claws collided with the dark magic gathered in Mira's hands, and thunderous impacts echoed through the air. In terms of speed, Mira's Satan Soul form was not inferior to the Green Wyvern at all.
In a near-instant, she appeared above the wyvern's head. Bringing her hands together, a black magic circle formed, crackling with intense dark lightning. A massive amount of dark magic condensed into a sphere—like a black hole devouring all light around it.
"Soul Extinction."
She thrust her hands forward. The dark sphere erupted into a massive destructive beam, blasting directly into the wyvern's head at point-blank range. The violent dark magic swallowed the creature whole, and for a moment, everything was engulfed in darkness.
"Tch… what a terrifying woman. Arlen really is surrounded by monsters," Laxus muttered as he stood on a cliff, arms crossed, his coat fluttering in the wind.
When the darkness faded, the wyvern's body crashed to the ground like a broken rag. Its scales were shattered, blood flowing everywhere—an utterly miserable sight.
Mira's magic gradually subsided as she returned to her normal form. She clapped her hands lightly and smiled.
"All done. Wonder if I was faster, or Erza."
"You're seriously scary, Mira," Laxus said as he appeared beside her in a flash of lightning.
"What was that? Want to fight?" Mira raised her fist.
"I'd love to—but let's head back first," Laxus replied.
On Ultear's side, she was maneuvering through a mist-filled forest, using Arc of Time and Ice-Make magic to deal with the Green Wyvern.
"Arc of Time — Shine of the Gods."
She tossed her crystal orb into the air. It shone brilliantly as dozens of future projections appeared, each firing beams of light that struck the wyvern repeatedly.
Roaring in anger, the wyvern endured the barrage and dove straight at her. Ultear remained calm, raising one hand as a gray-white magic circle formed.
"Future Flash."
The future projections compressed together, then launched forward at incredible speed and power, striking the wyvern again. Even with its immense durability, the creature faltered, its flight disrupted as it began to fall.
Ultear's gaze sharpened. She quickly formed hand seals, and an ice-blue magic circle appeared before her.
"Ice Make — Imperial Rose Crown."
A burst of freezing energy erupted. Countless crystal-clear ice roses and thorny vines shot up from the ground, forming a breathtaking yet deadly frozen garden. Sharp ice spikes pierced precisely into the wyvern's weak points—its eyes, wing joints, and neck.
The freezing magic invaded its body, locking its muscles and sealing its magic flow. The wyvern let out a short, desperate cry before its body stiffened completely.
But Ultear didn't stop there. She formed a massive ice blade and walked forward gracefully, delivering the final blow with clean precision.
"Well done, Ultear," Ur said proudly, clapping. "A flawless kill. Let's head back."
"Let's go. Arlen and the others are probably already there," Ultear replied, linking arms with her mother as they left the misty forest behind.
Deep within the mountains, Cana had set up a dense network of card-based traps—offensive, defensive, and binding magic layered across the terrain.
"Want your old man to take care of it?" Gildarts asked.
"No way. This is my exam," Cana said firmly, pushing him away. "Go wait over there."
After sending him off, she approached the sleeping wyvern. Calculating the distance, she drew a card.
"Flame Card Gun — All-In. Time for a fiery wake-up call."
The card transformed into a large-caliber magic gun. She loaded another card and fired.
Boom!
The explosive shot struck the wyvern's head, instantly waking it. The creature opened its eyes and locked onto Cana.
"Uh… good morning. Sleeping in isn't good, you know," she said awkwardly, waving.
"ROAR!!"
The enraged wyvern charged. Cana simply smiled and ran toward her prepared trap zone.
"Good, good… come chase me."
As the wyvern entered the trap field, she activated everything at once.
"Welcome to your grand gift package!"
In an instant, countless magic circles lit up. Explosions, flames, and binding spells engulfed the wyvern. Even with its high magic resistance, it couldn't withstand the overwhelming assault.
When the smoke cleared, the wyvern lay in a deep crater, barely alive.
Cana didn't hesitate. She poured all her remaining magic into her strongest card—Light Tarot: Fairy Judgment—loaded it into the gun, and pulled the trigger.
"Goodbye."
Boom!
The combined power of light and flame obliterated the wyvern's head completely.
"Finally… If that didn't work, I'd have to give up," Cana said, catching her breath.
Gildarts rushed over and hugged her tightly.
"That's my girl! I'm proud of you!"
"Hey, let go already… let's go back. I'm probably the last one," Cana said.
"It's fine. With your strength, you'll pass sooner or later," Gildarts replied.
Cana just smiled. She already knew where she stood—compared to Erza and the others, she still had a gap.
As expected, when Cana and Gildarts arrived at the meeting point, everyone else was already there.
Makarov glanced at them, and Gildarts gave a confirming nod.
"Ahem. Now that everyone is here, I will announce the results."
"First, congratulations. All of you have successfully completed the task of independently slaying a Green Wyvern."
"However, only two can be promoted this time. That said, all of you already possess S-Class capability. Next year will be much easier for you."
He paused before continuing.
"The two who pass this year's S-Class exam are—"
"Ultear Milkovich… and Erza Scarlet."
As his words fell, Kagura and the others gathered around to offer their congratulations, each wearing sincere smiles.
Amid laughter and celebration, the group began their journey back to the Fairy Tail guild.
