Chapter 1 - CHAPTER ONE

Chapter one

Waking up in a new world seems a dream to most if not all but to me it just didn't appeal to me, after all why would someone leave the comfort of their home heck their universe to go on some adventure while abandoning all friends and family just to have a stupid adventure with a bunch of powers and future injuries and near-death situations that kind of stupidity is overwhelming, but apparently some deity didn't hear my rant and decided to reincarnate me any way…. What a pain.

A warm radiant light forced me to open my eyes, it was really annoying and I was prepared to ignore it for another hour or two, until "ahem, how long do you intend to feign sleep because I'm really behind schedule and I would prefer it if we could move things along, please". my eyes ripped open in shock 'who the heck in my room' I thought. My eyes opened to see a woman probably in her late 20s, in formal wear typing in a computer she was mercilessly beautiful and gave off serious secretary vibes, she had long flowing blonde hair tied in a pony tail a white long-sleeved shirt with a short black pencil skirt.

"uhhh" I gawked at her for a while then tore my eyes away to avoid being rude, though I swear I saw a small smile on her face. I glanced around my surroundings and realized I was in a dazzling white office building but something was wrong, the ceiling or rather the absence of a ceiling the walls just seemed to stretch on without end. That wasn't possible unless I was tripping balls or… I wasn't on earth and that thought scared me to the bone, she called my attention by quietly clearing her throat "Impressive, within three minutes of awakening your first thought was to evaluate your surroundings, few would think of that, truly remarkable". Her voice put me slightly at ease, but wait three minutes I wasn't staring at her for that long was I? my face heated up with the thought. I tried to reply but was unable to. "Oh dear, don't bother, your thoughts alone will suffice, for as you might have noticed…" she pointed to my chest and trailed off. I looked at my chest in puzzlement I or rather the absence of one or limbs or a head I wanted to scream but couldn't "My apologies, but you see you've died". Her words made my heart sink, my stomach twisted in knots. "Let me introduce myself, I am Sirach, the spirit of reincarnation" 'I thought that was truck-kun or something' "Ah, that's one of my many paths, but that's beside the point like I said you have died in exactly six minutes the memory of your past will be erased and you will be transported to a new world in a new body, normally the process would begin immediately, but there were certain issues with the new body so you'll remain here for a few minutes " she said in a comforting smile that made my worries cease to exist. 'she's pretty good at this' I thought reluctantly. "It comes with experience" she replied with a kind soothing smile "Ah, our time seems to be over I'm afraid" she said, my mood dropped. she smiled with empathy "you will choose a skill and be transported shortly after, goodbye and good luck you'll need it" she said kindly. In that moment I slowly lost consciousness 'good...bye' I struggled out.

I forced my eyes open to see what seemed to be a casino with all the games on and playing… but no people anywhere I raised my hand to my head… wait, hand I patted myself down "I have a body" I said in shock "focus" I said centering myself. I wandered aimlessly looking for something to catch my eye, then I found it, it looked similar to a large slot machine with a large "SKILLZ" written on a wheel behind the glass. I looked across the machine and found a switch with a power icon above it. "Well, no use wasting time, there's no one to talk to here anyway" I said reluctantly.

I flipped the switch and the machine lit up and dinged a little tune which I hummed to myself, I pulled the lever at the side and the icons on the wheel started moving quickly in a second they became so fast my eyes couldn't track it and it became a bunch of blurry shapes and colors and a stop button appeared beside the start button I stared at the button puzzled I swear it wasn't there before "Well, no use timing my stop I can't see a damn thing anyway" I pushed the button reluctantly, the wheel stopped instantly. "No care for suspense I guess" the wheel displayed an orange tile with red accents which red "DEMONIC/DIVINE FIRE ASPECT" in bold letters "uhhh how does that even work, won't they cancel each other out ", I felt my body start to heat up I go hotter and hotter by the second my clothes ignited and the chair I sat on burst into flames they both burned away leaving me on the floor I screamed in anguish, eventually the pain subsided, I still felt hot but it felt more like natural body heat rather than being burned alive "ugh I guess there would be no point going through all this just to kill me" I said still breathing heavily "but still felt damn like it" I said annoyed the slot machine dinged again calling my attention the lever withered away leaving only a door behind it "This is it, a new beginning, new world. I'll definitely miss my family, my mom, dad and my little sister Jessica, shockingly enough…but not just them every one that got me through all 23years of my life so goodbye mom, dad and everyone I might forget you…. But I'll never forget who I am because of you" I opened the door which led to a hallway that ended in a wall of pure warm light I walked slowly and confidently "Ah I'm starting to sound like an anime character" I took my final steps into the light "Hello new me".
