Chapter 414 - Being A Spineless Coward Is Better Than Dying Early

On the competition stage, the challenges were still continuing.

Those Evil Soul Masters walked up the stage one after another. Some had pale faces, some had bloodshot eyes, and some were trembling all over.

They all stepped onto the competition stage with the resolve to make a desperate last-ditch struggle, but the result did not change at all.

The students in the bottom ten stood there like insurmountable high walls, firmly blocking all challengers outside.

Evil Soul Masters at the Titled Douluo level could still exchange blows, but in the end, it was just a matter of holding on a little longer.

As for those Evil Soul Masters at the Spirit Douluo and Spirit Saint levels, they basically fell on the stage without even having a chance to fight back.

After every match ended, Pluto Douluo Halosa's figure would appear on the competition stage. Between the rise and fall of that slender cross sword, a head would roll to the ground.

Pluto Douluo Halosa did not say a single extra word from beginning to end; he simply swung his sword, withdrew it, and retreated to the side in silence, letting those beads of blood slide down drop by drop.

Anxiety, fear, and despair—various negative emotions intertwined in the minds of every Evil Soul Master.

Watching their companions die one after another and watching that cross sword fall over and over again, the string in their hearts was being pulled tighter and tighter, ready to snap at any moment.

Death either way—this thought began to spread in the hearts of all Evil Soul Masters. Anyway, going up the competition stage meant death, and not going up also meant death, so they might as well just go all out. At least they could drag a few others down with them.

Amidst this tide of despair, two people exchanged a glance.

The Third Elder of the Holy Spirit Cult, Minglei Douluo, and the Fourth Elder, Nether Douluo.

Minglei Douluo had short hair and an aged, majestic face. Around seventy years of age, his physique was still very robust; even wearing a spacious black robe could not hide his broad shoulders and back, and his entire person exuded an Aura of natural majesty.

As for Nether Douluo, he was a white-haired Elder with a withered and thin figure, and a cold, chilling light emanated from his sunken eye sockets.

The two stood in a corner of the Holy Spirit Cult's grand hall, their gazes piercing through the light screen and falling upon the figures on the competition stage.

"This can't go on like this."

Minglei Douluo lowered his voice, his majestic eyes filled with gloom.

"Although they can know our location, our actions have not been obstructed."

Nether Douluo nodded slightly.

"As long as it is before this damn thing comes to an end, we won't die."

A sneer appeared at the corner of Minglei Douluo's mouth.

"Then let's make a move while the competition is still ongoing. Those guys' attention must be entirely on the competition stage; it's impossible for him to constantly monitor the movements of all of us."

"We will directly strike the guys in the nearby village, eliminate them with thunderous momentum, and then evacuate."

Minglei Douluo's voice carried a hint of ruthlessness. His purpose was also very simple: to prove that Shrek Academy in the Sky could not pay attention to them at all times.

As long as they could prove that the other party was not omnipotent, the remaining Evil Soul Masters would all unite together.

They were not willing to sit and wait for death. They refused to do something like waiting for death; nothing was more terrifying than watching death approach oneself step by step.

Even a rabbit will bite when driven to desperation.

The two hit it off immediately, but then they cast their gazes toward another figure in the grand hall.

The Second Elder of the Holy Spirit Cult, Nangong Wan.

Nangong Wan looked quite fierce on the outside, but those who knew him all knew that this guy's temperament was completely different from his appearance.

He had a weak personality, and his favorite thing to do was to bully the soft and fear the hard. When encountering opponents weaker than him, he would bare his fangs and brandish his claws, but when encountering opponents stronger than him, he would shrink back.

And most crucially, he was cowardly and feared death.

Minglei Douluo walked to Nangong Wan's side and extended an invitation, saying,

"Second Elder, we plan to make a move while the competition is ongoing and wipe out a village. Do you want to come along?"

Nangong Wan was slightly stunned, and then repeatedly waved his hands.

"No, no, no, I'm not going. You guys can just do that kind of thing yourselves."

There was a hint of panic in his voice. His eyes quickly swept over the figure standing by the edge of the competition stage within the light screen, and then he quickly took them back.

"I have no intention of provoking that academy. Didn't you guys see? Even Sleep Nightmare Douluo died so cleanly. If people like us run into bad luck, can we still survive?"

Minglei Douluo frowned.

"Second Elder, do you really intend to sit here and wait for death?"

"Waiting for death is still better than seeking death."

Nangong Wan shook his head, his tone carrying a near-stubborn persistence.

He had managed to claw his way to the position of the Second Elder of the Holy Spirit Cult with great difficulty. Although his life wasn't particularly glorious, at least he was still alive.

He paused for a moment, his voice becoming a bit deeper.

"I definitely don't want to do anything to offend Sky Shrek Academy."

Minglei Douluo and Nether Douluo exchanged a glance, both of their gazes carrying a trace of disdain.

Minglei Douluo cursed in a low voice. Although his voice was kept very low, the few people present heard it clearly.

"Spineless coward."

Although Nether Douluo did not speak, his cold gaze was full of the exact same meaning.

Hearing this curse, Nangong Wan didn't say much else; he merely lowered his eyelids and pretended not to hear it.

Nangong Wan regretted it immensely. It would have been great if he hadn't become an Evil Soul Master; then he could have survived.

He glanced at the backs of Minglei Douluo and Nether Douluo, sighing inwardly. These two fellows were probably going to die soon.

He didn't feel any pity for them; he just felt that his own fate was truly full of hardships.

Having finally climbed to the position of Second Elder and not even enjoying a few days of peace, he ran into such a mess.

Minglei Douluo and Nether Douluo no longer paid attention to Nangong Wan. The two of them, leading several Evil Soul Masters at the Spirit Saint level, silently left the grand hall of the Holy Spirit Cult and rapidly dashed in the direction of the nearby small village.

Their speed was extremely fast, and their figures almost turned into a few blurry afterimages in the night.

Meanwhile, an Evil Soul Master was stepping onto the stairs of the competition stage.

That person's strength was only at the Spirit Saint level. Standing in front of the student ranked tenth from the bottom, his whole body trembled like a chaff-sifting sieve, but he still clenched his teeth and braced himself to charge up.

Naturally, there was no suspense to the result. After just two or three exchanges, that person had already fallen to the ground.

Pluto Douluo Halosa's figure appeared on the competition stage once again.

Sword falls, head falls.

Soon, the next Evil Soul Master stepped onto the stage again.

Just at this moment, Minglei Douluo and Nether Douluo had already arrived at the edge of the village with those few Spirit Saints.

Their gazes fell upon the village sleeping in the night, and a ferocious smile simultaneously appeared at the corners of their mouths.

"Make a move."

Minglei Douluo let out a low shout, and the Spirit Power within his body instantly burst forth. He had already prepared to slaughter the entire village.

But at the very instant he was about to strike, a pillar of light descended from the sky.

After the pillar of light dissipated, a tall and robust bald man was revealed from within.

"I can finally stretch my muscles properly. My name is Long Yue, an Eight-Ring Soul Douluo. All of you come at me together."
