Chapter 23 - Combat Checking It Says.

Days went by, Alicia was always beside me. Sleep with me on my bed, played with Millien, and just like that.

I wasn't able to take a moment to think about it all.

Even here, my enrollment was still the same. Still the going to attend college at Santa Carla University.

It's basically the oldest school in the city. And for sure... There's more than ghosts in there.

Class starts next week too. I wonder how Alicia will handle it. Being left here alone.

But with Millien, I think, she'll be fine..

The one that's not fine?

Was me.

After days of the system being silent. No clue on my sister's case. And it just all of a sudden ghosted me.

Quite funny.

Really.

[MONTHLY COMBAT CHECK HAS BEEN UNLOCKED. TRANSPORTING TO BATTLE LOCATION IN..3...2....1]

And all of a sudden, I'm in an abandoned hospital.

All by myself.

Alone. In the middle of a dark room, with screeching sounds coming all over the place.

"You gotta be kidding me."

I held the blue screen's edges and shook it violently.

"Why did you bring me here? Where am I? What's happening? Answer me!"

[H-HOST! I CAN'T ANSWER YOU IF YOU SHAKE ME LIKE THAT.]

I stopped and bit my nails to control my shaking. I don't feel good about this place.

This one screams jump scares everywhere.

"Explain! Now!"

[MONTHLY COMBAT CHECKING IS THE WAY TO PREPARE HOST FOR FUTURE BATTLES.]

[YOU WILL ALSO GAIN POINTS FOR EVERY KILL. COMBAT DETAILS VARIES EACH MONTH.]

"You just tossed me here out of nowhere with no one but myself! You know how easily scared I am!" I growled.

But my whole body was trembling. This was something straight out of a horror movie.

And I'm the unwilling actor in this madness.

[HOST, THIS IS FOR YOUR OWN GOOD. YOUR SISTER'S KILLER ISN'T HUMAN. NOT EVEN LIKE THE DEMON WHO KILLED THE OTHERS. IT'S MORE SINISTER. MORE VILE. AND MY CURRENT LEVEL....OUR LEVEL ISN'T ENOUGH TO EVEN UNLOCK ANY INFORMATION ABOUT IT.]

That's why.... that's why its been silent. Because it got nothing.

The system is just level 2. So, that's my current level too. Since we share the same level. The stronger my system gets, the stronger I do too.

I tried to composed myself, tried to remain standing without stumbling back when the breeze blows the wrong way.

"Fine. I'm doing this. You gotta help me."

[HOST, WE ARE ONE. YOUR SURVIVAL IS MINE TOO.]

I felt better knowing that fact.

Anyways, I'm already here. I can go back, even if I want to.

"System, take out my dagger."

[DAGGER OF EXECUTION EQUIPPED. CURRENT LEVEL: 0]

Not even 1. But 0.

How fitting.

I gripped the dagger tightly, and started walking one step at a time.

"System, open map."

[MAP OPENED.]

I studied it for a while. And the only thing that's showing was the way I came from before.

A tiny bit path. Was the only thing shown. The rest? Black.

"That's not even helping."

[COMBAT LOCATION WILL BE UPDATED ONCE YOU EXPLORE THE AREA.]

That's not even comforting. I have to blindly explore the area on my own.

Slowly, my eyes adjusted and I was able to somehow make do of the edges.

"If only I have a flashlight." I muttered to myself.

[FLASHLIGHT: 10 POINTS]

"Wow. Really? 10 points? And you said we're one but you always make me purchase things." I huffed, annoyingly.

[HOST, THE POINTS I GAINED FROM THE PURCHASES SERVES AS MY EXPERIENCE POINTS. THE MORE YOU PURCHASE, THE MORE YOU USE THE SYSTEM FEATURES AND UNLOCK THEM, THE FASTER I LEVEL UP.]

"Yeah yeah. You always say that. But I feel like I'm being scammed through and through."

I tapped purchase and got my flashlight. Thankfully, it was bright. And doesn't need charging. It's limitless use.

"You finally sold something worth it. I don't need to charge it or anything."

Deep inside, I was truly glad I have the system. I somehow managed to walk quite the distance without scrambling away.

Well, technically, there's nothing worth running away from.

It was still manageable. If there's a fear level? It would be maxed out.

So far, nothing was jumping at me. Or I shouldn't have said that.

When I reached the delivery room in the hospital. That's where hell broke loose.

Tiny figures were crawling. Towards the room, on the wall.

Yeah. It's not Spiderman, it a tiny figure I wasn't able to determine what of it.

They're creepily crawling.... everywhere.

[COMBAT ZONE - MISSION COMMENCING]

[ELIMINATE 100 TIYANAKS IN THE VICINITY.]

"Hell now. Nuh-uh. Not one or ten, but 100?"

As if on cue. They heard me complaining. And all red eyes are on me now.

When my flashlight illuminated one.

It was a baby....monster.

A newborn's size, but already has sharp teeth and can crawl up everywhere?

My first mission is suicidal.

The tiyanak, blinked. As if the flashlight was blinding it. And the others?

Were annoyed. Totally annoyed by the light. And gathered slowly together.

I stepped back, one step, two step, as they crawled towards me, matching my slow pace.

My back hit the wall, it was the end of my litte distance away from them.

"Sweet babies.... let's all calm down..." I gestured for them to stay still.

But I know they won't.

When I saw a door open, I don't care where it leads me to, that was my escape route.

I didn't look back and ran towards the door. The tiyanaks weren't slowing down at all and chased after me.

Some even crawler at the ceiling, already even ahead of me and dropped down as I passed by.

"Pisteeeee! Stay away from me!"

I caught one, that lunged towards me and looked at it. It looked back and we both screamed!

"Yawaaaaaa!"

I threw the tiyanak with all my might, towards the others, like it was some kind of bowling ball.

I don't know what will happen moving forward.

But running was my best options.

For now.
