Chapter 5: Lingsha and the Secret History of the Vidyadhara
Sunlight streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows into the living room, casting dappled shadows on the sofa.
Silver Wolf reclined lazily on the sofa, her fingers flying across the handheld screen, producing crisp clicking sounds as she immersed herself in her video game world.
Occasionally, the corners of her mouth would turn up slightly in a smug smile, or she would furrow her brows and let out a dissatisfied mumble; her emotions fluctuated entirely with the game's progress.
Firefly nestled tenderly beside me as we flipped through photo albums from this recent period, reminiscing about those warm and sweet moments.
The album contains photos of us shopping together, including happy pictures of us in front of small street shops and serious shots of us carefully selecting ingredients.
The album also records scenes of us cleaning the room, including Firefly bustling around in the kitchen wearing a naked apron, and me clumsily helping her arrange flower vases.
The album also records our intimate moments throughout the villa; although some photos are blurry and obscure, one can still feel the deep love and passion overflowing from them.
We chatted softly as we flipped through the photo album, reminiscing about the stories behind the photos, happy smiles unconsciously playing on our lips.
Firefly pointed to a photo of us kissing in the courtyard, her cheeks slightly flushed, and whispered in her gentle voice, "The sunlight was so beautiful then..." I smiled and nodded, squeezing her hand, my heart filled with warmth and sweetness.
Just as we were immersed in this warm and beautiful atmosphere, a crisp doorbell suddenly rang, breaking the silence of the living room.
"Ding-dong—ding-dong—" The doorbell rang crisply and loudly, sounding particularly abrupt in the quiet afternoon, instantly drawing the attention of the three of us.
Silver Wolf looked up from the game, a hint of confusion and curiosity flashing in her purple eyes.
She paused the game, sat up straight, stretched lazily, and muttered, "Who is it? Honestly, in the middle of the day, interrupting my game..." Although she complained, a hint of expectation flickered in her eyes.
Firefly also looked up, her clear eyes filled with doubt. She looked at me and asked softly, "Trailblazer, who could it be?" Her tone remained gentle, but carried a hint of inquiry and probing.
I'm also a little curious; who could be visiting us at this time?
Is it Ruan Mei?
Or Kafka?
Or perhaps someone else?
A strange sense of anticipation welled up inside me, and I smiled as I said to them, "I don't know, we'll find out when we go see."
With that, I stood up, took Firefly's hand, and gestured for them to go check together.
Silver Wolf also jumped up from the sofa, put away her handheld console, and followed behind us.
The three of us walked side-by-side toward the villa's main door, each of us filled with a mixture of curiosity and anticipation, eager to know who awaited us outside... The doorbell continued to ring incessantly, as if urging us to open the door quickly and welcome the impending surprise.
Filled with curiosity, the three of us hurried to the courtyard gate.
I took a deep breath, reached out and grasped the doorknob, and with a gentle pull, the gate opened slowly.
The sight that met our eyes instantly froze the three of us in place, and the previously relaxed and pleasant atmosphere solidified.
Standing outside the gate was an unexpected distinguished guest—Lingsha, the Master Diviner of the Xianzhou Alchemy Commission and the most beautiful woman of the Vidyadhara!
Lingsha wore a dignified and elegant Alchemy Commission uniform. The uniform was the distinctive cyan-blue of Xianzhou, well-tailored with smooth lines that perfectly accentuated her tall and slender figure.
The exquisite cloud and lotus patterns embroidered on the uniform further emphasize her noble status and superior position.
She stood there quietly, like a fairy stepping out of a painting, radiating a unique charm that was both awe-inspiring and irresistibly alluring.
Lingsha's beauty is distinctly different from Firefly's gentle restraint and Silver Wolf's playful agility; it is a stunning beauty filled with exotic flair, even carrying a hint of sacred inviolability.
She possesses jet-black, lustrous long hair, as supple as fine silk; her straight bangs perfectly frame her exquisite face, further highlighting her eyes, which are like high-grade agate stones.
Her skin was as white as snow, yet tinged with a healthy rosy glow, like fine mutton-fat jade—warm and delicate.
What is most striking is her unique physical feature—her hands and feet are not human skin, but rather a distinctive red color covered in fine dragon scales that shimmer faintly in the sunlight. This, far from detracting from her beauty, adds a mysterious and noble aura, making her seem like a legendary dragon princess, almost too alluring to behold.
We were both stunned by Lingsha's beauty and aura, momentarily forgetting to react. We simply stood there at the door, staring blankly at her, our minds a complete blank.
Lingsha was the first to break the silence. Her melodious voice, like a clear spring, gently entered our ears, carrying the characteristic gentleness and politeness of the Xianzhou people, along with a hint of barely perceptible curiosity: "Greetings, Your Excellency Trailblazer, and ladies. Please excuse my unannounced visit; Lingsha pays her respects." Lingsha nodded slightly, offering us a shallow yet captivating smile.
Her smile, like a spring breeze caressing willows, instantly dispelled the frozen atmosphere and brought us back to our senses.
"Is it… Master Diviner Lingsha?!" I stammered, my voice filled with incredulous surprise.
The Master Diviner of the Xianzhou Alchemy Commission is a top-tier figure in Xianzhou, usually aloof and unattainable. Why would she suddenly descend upon our humble villa?
And even more so, a personal visit?
This is truly incredible.
Lingsha smiled slightly and nodded again to confirm, "It is indeed I, Lingsha. I wonder if it would be convenient for Your Excellency Trailblazer to invite me in? I have come to ask you something, and I would like to discuss it with you and the two ladies." Her tone remained gentle and polite, but the information revealed in her words only aroused more curiosity and confusion.
Companions? A request? Discuss something?
I was deeply honored to receive a personal visit from Master Diviner Lingsha. I quickly stepped aside and respectfully ushered her into the villa's living room.
"Master Diviner, please come in. My humble abode is simple; I hope you won't mind." As I spoke, I guided Lingsha into the living room.
Lingsha nodded slightly, her movements elegant and proper as she stepped into the living room.
Her gaze swept quickly across the living room decor; there was no disdain in her eyes, but rather a hint of appreciation.
Under my guidance, Lingsha sat down on the sofa in the living room. Her posture was upright and her demeanor dignified, exuding an air of noble elegance with every movement.
