Chapter 1 - THE LAST BREATH BEFORE DEATH

This world was never fair.

People vanished without a trace.

Blood was spilled in silence.

And power—decided everything.

Rynex knew exactly where he stood.

At the bottom.

He lived alone with his mother—the only light in his broken world. No father. No friends. No one else.

At school, he was nothing more than a target.

Laughter followed him through the corridors.

Mockery echoed behind his back.

Pain became part of his daily life.

Sometimes… he wanted it to end.

To disappear.

But he couldn't.

Because she was still there.

His mother.

Her gentle smile.

Her tired eyes that still tried to stay strong for him.

If he disappeared… who would protect her?

"…just hold on a little longer."

That was the only reason he kept going.

Today… was his 16th birthday.

A fragile happiness in a cruel world.

His mother had promised to make his favorite cake.

That alone was enough to make him smile.

Even as he walked home from school, ignoring the bruises, the laughter, the voices behind him—he smiled.

Because tonight… he could pretend everything was normal.

Maybe laugh together.

Maybe play video games late into the night.

But fate… had already decided otherwise.

On the way home, he saw them.

Three figures.

Standing over a body.

Blood spread across the ground beneath them, dark and heavy in the fading light.

The air felt wrong.

Heavy.

Suffocating.

They weren't normal.

People with power.

Rynex froze.

Didn't move.

Didn't breathe.

If he stayed quiet—if he stayed invisible—he might survive.

Seconds passed.

Then—one of them turned.

Their eyes met his.

"…well, well."

Before he could react, they moved.

Fast. Too fast.

A hand grabbed his collar.

Another struck his stomach, knocking the air from his lungs.

Pain exploded through his body.

His vision blurred.

He tried to speak—but no sound came out.

"Wrong place, wrong time, kid."

His body was dragged across the ground, toward the river where the current swallowed everything.

Where no one would hear him.

Where no one would find him.

And in that moment—Rynex understood.

This world… was never meant to let someone like him live.
