Chapter 12 - Return to the Living World

"It does not matter what they sign. When a human soul acknowledges the terms of the contract and signs it, the soul becomes bound to hell. Even if they just draw a line, it is the same. I am going to get a drink. Remember to return to hell before dawn. Do not cause too much trouble out here. Otherwise, when you go back and Lord Astarion holds you accountable… you will be in for a bad time."

Woo Manyeo wanted to ask why it had to be before dawn and what would happen after dawn, but the demon senior in front of him disappeared instantly and vanishing to who knew where.

Left with no choice, he carefully put away the contract and teleported to the house he had owned when he was still human.

Although he was a newly transformed demon, abilities like teleportation and manipulating objects were instinctive to demons.

Just like humans could walk or grasp things, he could use them with ease.

The large flat luxury apartment in the city center was empty, not much different from before he died, except for a faint layer of dust that was barely noticeable.

The retro-style interior decoration could be considered luxurious.

Many of the furnishings were vintage pieces he had collected.

He had always been inexplicably drawn to things that carried a sense of age.

He had always been good at making money and even better at spending it.

He never treated himself poorly, nor had he ever felt unworthy because of his background.

He had always believed that he deserved everything he wanted.

Woo Manyeo had been an orphan in life, so he had long since notarized his will.

After his death, the apartment was to be given to the orphanage.

Perhaps the orphanage had not sold it yet, so it remained vacant.

The old-fashioned clock on the antique desk displayed today's date.

It had only been twenty days since the day he died.

That meant… he had only spent seven days in the abyss of hell before climbing out?

As expected of himself!

Perhaps because he had no family, he had always regarded work as the entirety of his life, the only thing he could grasp and control.

It was the source of all his sense of achievement, the foundation that supported all his strength.

After becoming a demon, this drive to climb upward had not diminished. Instead, it had grown even stronger than before.

Woo Manyeo operated something on the antique desk for a while and opened a hidden mechanism within it.

Back then, he had spent a high price to acquire this desk and had gone through great trouble to have it transported back to the country, all for the concealed mechanism inside.

Even if the desk were sold, it would not be easy for others to discover what was hidden within.

Inside the small compartment was a slip of paper, which recorded the key to a certain virtual account.
