Chapter 196 - Chapter 195: True Name

Aetaos'rau'keres's voice was a joyous amalgamation of ten thousand different tones.

Six Warp-fire claws stabbed simultaneously toward Paul, who was trapped in the time cage.

If this strike landed, it wouldn't just tear apart his Custodian Terminator armor; it would trace the psychic link and incinerate the very essence of Paul's soul.

But... Paul didn't dodge. He didn't even try to break free from the time cage's bindings.

Beneath the golden faceplate, the corners of his mouth actually curled into a smirk.

[Regional Channel]

Paul: "Are the Brothers of Silence in position?"

[Psykers Don't Die from Gunfire]: "In position! One hundred Brothers of Silence have reached the battlefield's perimeter. The anti-psychic field is fully constructed!"

Paul: "Grey Knights, ready the psychic chains."

[Little Grey Looking for Dad +V86]: "All Grey Knights have locked onto the target. Psychic chains are ready to go!"

Paul communicated with Helovia Elnor via telepathy, "Helovia, prepare to cast the most powerful spell from the knowledge you've acquired. I'll create an opening for you."

"I... I'm ready!" Helovia replied.

"Good," Paul said.

Within his dark gold pupils, the pentagram spun to its absolute limit.

His Wisdom trait screamed frantic warnings, displaying every possible timeline branch for the next three seconds.

"Now," Paul said softly.

Almost at the exact same moment.

"Anti-psychic field!!!"

A hundred Brothers of Silence emerged from the shadows of the ruins at the battlefield's edge.

They wore pure, matte-black power armor.

The hundred players, split into groups of twenty, rapidly formed a pentagram formation, firmly surrounding Aetaos'rau'keres.

Hum!

Psychic energy, the ubiquitous supernatural force of the Warhammer universe, was forcibly suppressed, repelled, and erased within the anti-psychic field constructed by the Brothers of Silence.

This was the sheer terror of Untouchables.

They weren't psykers; they were the natural predators of psykers.

Within their area of effect, the veil between the Warp and the material universe was forcefully thickened.

The power of psychic spells was drastically weakened, and low-level daemons could literally starve to death.

This was because the Warp energy supply needed to maintain their physical forms in reality had been completely severed.

And now, with a hundred Brothers of Silence simultaneously unleashing their fields at maximum output...

"Graaaagh!!!" Aetaos'rau'keres let out an agonized shriek for the very first time.

It felt its connection to the Warp being forcibly suppressed!

The Warp energy extending from the rifts became intermittent and unstable under the crushing weight of the anti-psychic field.

The psychic supply required to maintain its twenty-meter-tall demonic vessel plummeted, and the profane runes covering its body began to flicker wildly.

The time cage's effect was the first to collapse. Time manipulation was a high-tier authority of Tzeentch, requiring a continuous and stable output of psychic energy.

With its psychic power suppressed, the flow of time within the cage rapidly returned to normal.

The thrusting speed of the six Warp-fire claws slowed down at a visible rate.

This was the exact moment Paul had been waiting for.

"Grey Knights, psychic chains!"

"Yes, sir!!!"

One hundred Grey Knight players raised their Nemesis Force Halberds as one.

Azure psychic chains erupted from the tips of their halberds, shooting forward like massive pythons to wrap around Aetaos'rau'keres's limbs, neck, and wing joints.

One chain, two chains, ten, fifty...

In just a few short seconds, over eighty psychic chains had deadlocked themselves around Aetaos'rau'keres's body.

These chains were a form of psychic confinement specifically designed to target Warp entities.

Although these psychic chains were also weakened upon entering the anti-psychic field...

...they didn't shatter. The dimmed psychic chains still held Aetaos'rau'keres securely in place, exactly like how they had restrained the Great Unclean One back in the Aru Industrial Zone.

"Insects... you think this is enough to trap me?!" Aetaos'rau'keres roared in absolute fury, its twenty-meter-tall frame thrashing wildly.

Under its violent resistance, the first dozen psychic chains to bind it instantly snapped!

The azure psychic fragments exploding from the broken chains scattered in all directions like fireworks.

Every shattered fragment carried the muffled, pained grunts of the Grey Knights.

The psychic chains were linked directly to the Grey Knight players' psychic powers. With the chains being forcefully broken, the players naturally suffered a backlash.

But the players didn't flinch. To them, it hardly hurt at all. After undergoing the Grey Knight augmentations and tweaking their pain sensory settings to a 30% reduction, this level of pain was basically a mosquito bite.

"Keep it up!" [Psykers Don't Die from Gunfire] bellowed in the regional channel.

The broken chains were immediately replaced by newly manifested ones.

Eighty chains, ninety chains, one hundred...

Finally, a full one hundred psychic chains bound Aetaos'rau'keres tightly in mid-air, trapping it in an inescapable net.

Every time it struggled, chains would snap, only to be instantly replaced by fresh ones.

The Grey Knight players were locked in a brutal war of attrition, trading their own psychic backlash to maintain a continuous restraint on the Greater Daemon.

Meanwhile, the anti-psychic field generated by the Brothers of Silence hadn't weakened in the slightest.

The collective null-field of a hundred Untouchables relentlessly crushed Aetaos'rau'keres's Warp essence.

The blue-purple psychic glow across its body dimmed at a visible rate, and the phantom images of the three pairs of eyes behind it began to blur.

"Now is the time..." Paul took a deep breath and plunged the Watcher's Axe firmly into the scorched earth.

He brought his hands together in front of his chest, forming an ancient sigil.

He needed to chant the target Greater Daemon's True Name in the Warp, thereby establishing a forced psychic bind to temporarily suppress its essence.

However, the price for speaking a Greater Daemon's True Name was incredibly steep. At best, it would result in complete psychic exhaustion; at worst, it invited a berserk backlash from the Daemon that would instantly snuff out his life.

That was why Paul had to do it himself. Out of all the players present, he was the only one blessed with the five traits. The healing and regeneration effects of his Compassion trait, in particular, could maximize his chances of offsetting the backlash from chanting the True Name.

"Everyone, get ready!" Paul gave his final warning in the regional channel.

A sound began to rumble from his throat.

It was a language that did not belong to humanity, completely alien to any known civilization.

It was... the primordial syllables of the Warp.

Every single note sounded like shattered glass scraping against the soul, or ten thousand insects gnawing at the inside of one's skull.

The pitch wildly fluctuated, and simply hearing it was enough to shatter a mortal's sanity.

Sizzle... crackle...

Smoke began to pour from Paul's throat.

Faint golden healing psychic light began to seep from the neck joints of the Custodian Terminator armor.

That was the Compassion trait frantically repairing the vocal cord tissue torn apart by the Warp syllables.

"Ae... ta... os..."

The instant the first syllables left his lips, Aetaos'rau'keres, who was violently struggling in the sky, suddenly froze.

"...rau... ke... res..."

The second syllable, the third syllable...

With every additional syllable spoken, Aetaos'rau'keres's struggles weakened by a fraction.

The blue-purple psychic energy on its body dissipated like a receding tide, and the phantom images of the three pairs of eyes behind it began to violently contort, as if witnessing something utterly terrifying.

"Impossible... how could you... how could you know..."

For the very first time, Aetaos'rau'keres's voice trembled.

It was a nameless... fear.

A True Name.

In the Warp, every single daemon, from the lowliest Nurglings to the highest Everchosen, possessed a unique True Name.

It was the anchor of their existential essence, the proof of their binding contract with their respective Chaos God.

To know a True Name meant holding the key to unlocking that contract.

Although this key couldn't kill a daemon directly—a daemon's Warp essence was immortal, and even if their physical form was destroyed in the material universe, they would simply respawn in the Warp.

But chanting their True Name could forcefully establish a psychic bind, temporarily suppressing the daemon's power and drastically weakening its anchor to reality.

It was like knowing a person's ID number, home address, bank passwords, and all their social media accounts...

You might not be able to kill them directly, but you could make it absolutely impossible for them to take a single step forward.

"Aetaos'rau'keres!!!"

The instant the final syllable was uttered, the world plunged into sudden silence.

It was replaced by an eerie sensation of a total vacuum.

And within this absolute stillness...

...some invisible force surged from the deepest depths of the Warp, following the conduit of syllables chanted by Paul, and latched onto the contractual anchor between Aetaos'rau'keres and Tzeentch like a vice.

"Aaaarrrggghhh!!!"

Aetaos'rau'keres let out an unprecedentedly shrill and agonizing scream.

That shriek was laced with ten thousand different tones of pain, fury, and... fear.

It felt thirty percent of its power being forcefully siphoned away!

Its psychic perception dulled significantly. The branches of future possibilities that it could originally see with crystal clarity were now a blurry mess.

The flow of time around it grew viscous, as if it were thrashing in thick glue.

Most importantly, its connection to the Changer of Ways and the domain of Tzeentch had been forcibly severed by the True Name chains!

This meant it could no longer draw sufficient energy replenishment from the Warp, nor could it invoke high-tier authorities of mutation and deception.

It even... began to struggle just to maintain its twenty-meter-tall demonic vessel.

"No... impossible... I am the favored of the Changer of Ways... I am Aetaos'rau'keres... I planned my revenge for eighty years... I sacrificed five hundred psykers... I..."

Aetaos'rau'keres's voice devolved into incoherence.

The binding of a True Name brought not only power suppression but also cognitive interference.

The memory fragments belonging to Sacken Alar, which it had forcefully suppressed, now surged back up like a tidal wave.

It saw those few fleeting days.

It saw the adoration in that woman's eyes.

It heard the tearing agony in its own heart upon leaving.

It imagined the child it had never met...

"He... lovia..."

Aetaos'rau'keres, or rather the lingering consciousness of Sacken, struggled to spit out that name.

Then, it abruptly raised its head, looking down at the little girl gripping a pink staff below.

Their eyes met.

Deep within Helovia's pupils, pink magic circle patterns were slowly rotating.

Her face was entirely devoid of expression.

She was charging her power.

According to the plan Paul had just relayed to her via telepathy, the moment the True Name chant was completed and Aetaos'rau'keres was bound and suppressed, that would be her window to attack.

That highest-tier magic infused into her mind from the Magical Girl Transformation Device...

[Moonlight Sublimation Meditation]

...required a thirty-second channeling time.

And right now, fifteen seconds had already passed.

"You... will all die... you will all die!!!"

The dread brought on by the True Name binding, the chaos from Sacken's resurfacing memories, the despair of its power being drastically weakened...

These emotions blended together, driving it to make the same choice all Greater Daemons made when bound by their True Names.

Sacrifice. Sacrificing its own remaining power, sacrificing the soul fragments belonging to Sacken within this vessel, sacrificing portions of its authority from its contract with the Changer of Ways...

...all to forcefully shatter the True Name binding!

"In the name of the Changer of Ways, offering the authority of distortion as a sacrifice, using the soul of this body as fuel, using the Warp energy accumulated in the City of the Holy Anthem Hive as fuel... I will tear you apart, you insect forged by the False Emperor! I will drag your soul into the labyrinth of the Changer of Ways! I will make you eternally lost amidst billions of possibilities!!!"
