Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: The Hunt Begins

The village no longer felt like home.

Smoke curled into the sky, rising from shattered houses and scorched الأرض. The ground still glowed faintly where the shadow had emerged, as if the earth itself remembered what had happened.

And in the center of it all stood Aren.

Silence surrounded him—but it was not peace.

It was fear.

The villagers kept their distance.

Whispers followed his every step.

"That light… it came from him…"

"He brought that thing here…"

"He's cursed…"

Aren lowered his head, his chest tightening. Just yesterday, these were the people who greeted him with smiles.

Now they looked at him like a stranger.

Or worse… a danger.

"Kiran…" Aren called softly.

But his friend didn't step closer this time.

Kiran hesitated, fear flickering in his eyes. "Aren… what are you?"

The question hit harder than any blade.

"I don't know…" Aren answered honestly. "But I didn't mean for any of this to happen."

Before Kiran could reply—

The wind stopped.

Completely.

A deep, unnatural silence spread across the land.

Birds froze mid-flight.

The air grew heavy.

Then—

A voice echoed from nowhere and everywhere at once.

"You cannot hide…"

Aren's eyes widened.

He knew that voice.

From the shadows of the broken village… they appeared.

Not one.

Not two.

But many.

Dark figures stepped forward, their forms twisted and shifting like living nightmares. Their eyes burned with the same unnatural glow.

The same presence.

The same curse.

"They've come for you…" one of them whispered.

Aren stepped back. "No…"

The shadows advanced slowly, circling him.

The villagers screamed and ran, but the creatures ignored them.

They had only one target.

"You awakened…" another hissed.

"You belong to us…"

Kiran grabbed Aren's arm. "We need to run—NOW!"

But Aren didn't move.

Because deep inside…

Something told him running wouldn't save anyone.

The ground trembled again.

But this time…

It wasn't the enemy.

It was him.

Aren's breathing grew heavier as energy surged through his body. The same glowing symbols began to form around him once more—but stronger now, brighter.

Uncontrolled.

Dangerous.

"I can't stop it!" he shouted.

"Then don't!" Kiran yelled. "Fight it!"

The shadows lunged.

All at once.

Like a wave of darkness.

And Aren—

Exploded.

Light burst outward in a blinding surge, tearing through the shadows, shaking the earth, pushing everything back. The force was immense, raw, untamed.

For a moment…

The darkness broke.

The creatures were thrown back, their forms flickering violently.

But they were not destroyed.

They rose again.

Stronger.

"You cannot defeat us," one growled.

"We are the curse itself."

Aren dropped to one knee, breathing heavily. His power was fading fast.

"I… can't…"

The shadows closed in again.

Closer.

Closer—

Then—

A blade cut through the darkness.

Fast.

Precise.

Deadly.

One of the shadow creatures split apart instantly, its form dissolving into nothing.

Everyone froze.

A figure stepped forward from the smoke.

Cloaked in black, face hidden, movements sharp and controlled. A sword rested in their hand—glowing faintly with a strange, silver light.

Not ordinary.

Not normal.

Like Aren.

"You're late," the stranger said calmly.

Aren looked up, confused. "Who… are you?"

The figure turned slightly, revealing only their eyes—cold, focused, unafraid.

"Someone who's been looking for you," they replied.

Another shadow attacked—

And in a single motion, the stranger cut it down.

Effortlessly.

The remaining creatures hesitated.

For the first time…

They stepped back.

Not from Aren.

But from the newcomer.

The stranger lowered their blade slightly.

"You don't understand your power," they said, looking at Aren. "And if you stay here…"

A pause.

"Everyone will die."

Aren's heart pounded.

"Then… what do I do?"

The stranger's answer was simple.

"Come with me."

Thunder cracked across the sky.

The shadows retreated into the darkness, but their whispers remained.

Watching.

Waiting.

As Aren stood up slowly, leaving behind the only home he had ever known, one truth became clear—

This was no longer about survival.

This was war.

And the hunt…

Had just begun. 🔥
