Chapter 1 - Rulers.system Chapter 1

Tokyo, 2013. It was a typical day—until a portal suddenly opened up out of thin air in the middle of the city. Monsters began pouring out—goblins, elves, and even slimes. They started massacring everyone in sight. An officer tried to use his gun, but it did nothing to the monsters. The killing continued until, finally, someone awakened. He fought and defeated the monsters, and soon after, others began awakening—mages, archers, and more.

After that event, dungeons began appearing all over the world. People across the globe began to awaken to special abilities—summoners, healers, and many others.

Our protagonist, Kaito Aoki, enters the story three years later. He's been locked in his room, gaming. Ever since his family awakened their abilities—his little sister included—Kaito has shown no talent. While everyone around him gained powers, he remained ordinary and talentless. Jealous of those who awakened, he withdrew from the world, retreating into his room, focusing on gaming for days on end.

One day, while buying in-game items, his computer suddenly shuts off. Panicked, Kaito thinks he's lost the one thing that kept him going. But then, his computer turns back on—only this time, the screen is unfamiliar. It shows a hacking system. At first, he thinks it's a joke, so he presses "Hack." To his surprise, his in-game currency starts growing rapidly.

Curious, he decides to check the system further. A voice speaks directly in his head, and a quest appears on the screen:

"Hack a game with the system."

Reward: Player System.

Fail: Deletion of System.

Kaito stares at the unfamiliar interface. Years of feeling powerless vanish in an instant. No hesitation—this is his chance to finally be someone who matters.

He presses "Hack."

Lines of code explode across the screen. In seconds, his in-game currency jumps astronomically, far beyond anything he'd dreamed of. A chill runs down his spine as the system confirms:

Quest Complete: Hack a Game

Reward: Player System

But his system is a little different from what he's learned online the system looks almost the same except that it has a section that says jack and when he clicks it nothing looks different except a hacking skill is in his player tab and while he's studying it the quest menu pops back up .

Quest: Obtain a Random Game Item

Objective: Complete a digital simulation of your own game.

Reward: A random item from your personal game.

Penalty: System Deletion

Kaito smirks. "A random item… and maybe more?" He recalls the rare abilities of his favorite in-game character—the ultimate fireball spell, the legendary sword, a skill that could obliterate anything. If he succeeds… he could gain those.

No hesitation. No second-guessing. He's done being ordinary.

Kaito stares at the quest: Obtain a Random Game Item.

The simulator loads, and immediately, a sword materializes in front of him. A , steel black blade he recognizes it from his game, unadorned, but solid. He instinctively reaches for it.

"Well… that's something, I guess," he mutters. He swings experimentally. The sword feels heavy in his hands, clumsy, and unbalanced. He's never wielded a real sword before.

Almost immediately, monsters spawn—goblins, slimes, a small ogre. They charge.

Kaito swings the sword. It hits… nothing. He trips over his own feet, barely avoiding a strike. Pain flares in his side. Blood. Real blood.

He staggers to his feet, heart pounding.

The simulator's rules are merciless: every hit counts. Every cut draws blood. Every missed strike could be fatal.

Kaito grips the sword tighter, swinging wildly, improvising, dodging, crawling, rolling. He's not elegant. He's not skilled. He's barely surviving.

A goblin lunges at him. He blocks it clumsily with the sword, staggering backward as it slashes his arm. Pain sears, but he keeps moving. His gaming instincts—timing, reading patterns—help him survive, but just barely.

Hours—or maybe minutes, it's impossible to tell—pass in a haze of adrenaline, sweat, and blood. The sword finally finds its mark against a larger monster, and Kaito barely manages to kill it. Every move is sloppy, desperate, and brutal.

Finally, the simulator pulses.

"Quest Complete. Injuries sustained in the simulator will now heal."

Warmth spreads through his body. Cuts close. Blood dries. Pain fades. The sword remains in his hand.

Kaito collapses, trembling. He stares at it, his hands shaking.

"I… survived….

The system whispers again:

"Your potential is unlimited. Future quests may allow skills, companions, or even more powerful items from your game. Your Player System is evolving with your Hacking System."

Kaito lifts the sword, grinning. "Finally…
