The Ambulance took a long while too come but even so there was no saving the man ahead. Joe could tell, in fact anyone person could tell that the man was dead even with zero medical knowledge. It was not his unsual and strange wound that made Joe so certain but a strange stillness that the body had.
A alive man moves and twitches, Joe thought about the theory he had heard ealier about the subconscious feeling you got from how a man twitches and how his subtle movements creates a subconscious feeling, perhaps this certainty that Joe is feeling so strongly is a subconscious feeling made by the absence of the mans smallest movements.
Either way the man was dead. The ambulance arrived and a man and women jumped out with hast and bravery. Their rush into action was promptly halted as the shock of the sight stunned them. They looked at Joe and the man bent down too check on the corpse while the women rushed over too Joe to ask him questions. "Do you know what happend?" Joe answers honestly "I'm sorry, I was near but I didn't quite see what got him" When he finished his sentence the women looked back at her partner and he shook his head side to side affirming the mans deadness.
"Did you know the man or even his name?" Joe looked remorseful and said the truth "No unfortunately I had never met him before in my life, it wasn't a pleasant first meeting" The women didn't seem to appreciate his joke and ignored it. She asked Joe for his details which he gave as she said that the police will be in contact for a statement. Soon they packed up the man into the ambulance and drove away in no rush with their lights off. Joe quite appreciated them. He liked their no-nonsense manner and their efficacy.
With nothing more too do he walked back to his house and as he arrived he noticed just how late he got home. Meeting that creature which spared him for god knows what reason was disturbing and most of all time consuming if you include the time dealing with the ambulance and talking with the girl.
Joe was too tired to do anything and simply flopped onto his bed wanting to take a small break but when he opend his eyes it was morning. With feelings of disappointment he left his house into a world of dark blue. He continued onto his usual commute now having to take a slight detor as where the mans body were was now all closed off with tape and nosey neighbours. He walked slightly off his usual route and found that there was a small cannal along the side of the road that carried water but mostly debris.
Disgruntled at the change of scenery he walked faster than usual and made it too the station with some time too spare. The train was early enough that the station platform only had a few people on it. It was much darker than he was used too and few platform lights actually worked making it have even worse visibility.
The station was on elevated ground so yoi had too climb a short level of stairs to get up too the platforms. Joe was stood infront of them as he heard a man rushing up the stairs. In the deep darkness he didn't see or perhaps his sleep was not invigorating enough. The man stumbled past Joe tripping on the last step, catching himself to the point of not falling but not too the point of stability. He tumbled and fumbled forward until he got the edge of the platform and it was clear he was about too fall. Joe was too shocked to move as he simply stood there as the man he nearly brushed shoulders with fell onto the tracks.
The darkness was deep and heavy and the man made little sound falling. The only sound he made was the scrapping of his shoes as he fell which too all the other sleep deprived workers, most with some sort of listening device in was entirely inaudible. The man lay on the tracks dazed and confused clearly he had hit his head on the way down. Joe looked over too the opposite platform and not a soul on the other scarcely populated platform saw him either. Joe stood still for a second, his entire body seemingly going numb. He heard the train coming. He had to help him or did he? By helping the man, he would disrupt not only these people relying on the train but the bosses and the companys behind them.
Many people live so hard so they can live even more, why should they suffer so person they have nothing to do with can live a little longer. Joe simply sighed with a sight and shook himslef out of his numbness. "What in the world I am thinking, A mans life is much more precious than my train, it's a large inconvenience but Im sure they can forgive me for being late" Joe moved forward to help but soon the horn of the train sounded out as the mass of steel rammed into the man turning him into a paste that splattered everywhere including Joe. The trains brakes were so loud that it cused Joe to cover his ears in pain only to find out how soaked he was. Joe looked down and found that he could indeed distinguish the mans brain from the rest of him. The impact forced it into a more white foam state while his bones looked like liquorice candies. Most of him was concentrated on the front of the train and below it but even so the amount of liquid sotred into a human body was very surprising to Joe.
