Chapter 3 - Chapter 2: Class 1-D

Leopold was sitting at his desk in Class 1-D, patiently waiting for his class to start. The first day had already been a disaster as the second princess of Kushida, Cinder, had challenged him to a battle! Not only that, but then he had defeated her with almost no effort while everyone had watched. That led to many people gossiping of him, many of them wanting to be his "disciples" while at school. Some had even starting calling him one of the twelve heroes! CLASSES HADN'T EVEN BEGUN YET!

"And I just wanted to live an ordinary school life..."  he thought, saddened by the situation.

Even in the classroom Leopold now sat in, all of his classmates were so focused on him that conversation about other topics was limited. All Leopold could hear from the other students was...

"That's him, right?"

or

"Maybe we could become friends with him?"

and even

"He's pretty hot when you think about it..."

Leo sighed. "I was already a big enough topic before all of this, but now what? Just why in the world did a princess have to get involved with me anyway?!" There was no telling why she had done what she had done... All he could hope for was to never see her again!

After a few more moments of waiting patiently, the teacher finally walked inside and everyone sat down at their desks for first class. "Hello, Class 1-D. My name is Mister Wakiza and I will be your teacher here at this school until you graduate. And blah blah blah whatever..." He sighed and then scanned the students before continuing. "Now let me start off with saying something all of you should know..." He look another deep breath and looked at the kids of Class 1-D. "Your all a bunch of failures plain and simple."

A number of shocked expressions filled the students of Class 1-D as they heard their teacher ridicule them. Ten seconds into the school year and they were already branded as failures?! Leo understood what the teacher was trying to say, but it was a bit harsh. "I know we're Class 1-D and have no chance to do much as real heroes, but still it's a bit rough to be told immediately you're trash." The big smiled. "This guy is a badass!"

"Please, teacher, could you explain a bit more?" A boy with black hair asked. He looked at Mr. Wakiza with a face of total confusion.

"Indeed I will." Mr. Wakiza agreed. "In this school, there are a total of three types of classes you can take. First is the Hero course which is designed to train future leaders and warriors, then the Sidekick course which helps people understand basic fundamentals of society, and finally the background course which are just people who are here for their education. All of these courses are divided into three years and four classes. Class A are the most probable for becoming future heroes, Class B are the most likely, Class C is the risk taking, and Class D is the no chance."

"What do you mean by that?" a girl with brown hair asked, nervously.

"It means that in the time since this school was founded, not one person from Class D has become a hero." he explained, coldly. "This also means that if you are in this class, you are on a tightrope of sorts."

"So if we're here, we're immediately branded as failures?" a tall male exclaimed. "That's so uncool!"

"Your skill is what got you in your position, not equality." the teacher mumbled. "Still, as per my job, I will teach you how to be a hero. Your first test will be something called an occupational exam."

Leo smiled as he watched the teacher. "He just shrugged off that he ruined multiple hopes and dreams and sped to the lesson. This man is definitely a true badass..."

"So... What exactly is an occupation exam?" someone asked the teacher.

Mr. Wakiza nodded. "An occupational exam determines what your "life path" will be. In other words, what career you will take on as you get older. We use high class magic to determine this and we've never been wrong, so the system has been in use for some 1,021 years now..."

"Wow..." the class gasped.

"So, you will take exam to see what your future career will be. This also is what causes many students to drop out if they don't get something higher and let new, better students in..." Mr. Wakiza continued. "Something like a "farmer" or "merchant" is a common career, an "adventurer" would be rare, "knight" is extra rare, a leader like a "king" or "chief" would be a sort of legendary, a "hero" is special, and a great hero is ancient."

"So, where do we take this test?" the black haired boy questioned.

The teacher yawned. "Follow me."

====================

Mr. Wakiza brought the students down to a basement under the school as he and the other students waited. "Here we are..."

"Mr Wakiza, are the other classes coming down here too?" one of the female students asked.

The teacher nodded his head. "At this school, classes go one at at time for this to limit problems and luck you people, you go first."

"Sweet!" the tall male exclaimed. "Who goes first."

The teacher pulled out a notebook and started to list off names. "Nix Midnight." A girl stepped forward to the teacher and hid her face.

"H-Here!" she stuttered, nervously.

Leopold smiled at the girl before him. She had crystal white hair, was very shy to say the least, and... her chest was amazing... "She reminds me of her in a way... I hope this Nix gets something good! Maybe I can talk to her after classes."  Unfortunately, Leopold noticed the love struck looks of the other guys of Class 1-D and sighed. "Yeah, like that will ever happen... I'm way out of her league..."

"Miss Nix, please put your hand on this blue orb." the teacher instructed. As Nix did, a light shown around her and some sort of information popped up. The teacher read it out loud. "Nix Claw. Age 15. 5 feet 8 inches. Intelligence 83. Magic power 12, 347. Job Archer. Epic role." He smiled. "Nice job, Miss Nix."

"She's so cool!"

"But with those stats, none of us will ever get to be with her..."

"It's so unfair!"

The teacher red off other people's stats and as everyone went down the line, the only one at the end was Leopold. "And finally, Leopold Stratus."

Leopold stepped up and put his hand on the orb to see what his role would be. "I'll probably be something like an adventurer or knight. I'm not super strong though... so that's stretching it a bit..."

"Leopold Stratus. Age 16. 6 feet 3 inches. Intelligence 81. Magic Power 0. Job Knight. Epic Role."

Everyone sighed as the exam was finally over and for once, Leopold thought he'd be happy he could continue with a normal life. "That would be if that wasn't my true stats... Wonder why he said it wrong...

Leopold Stratus

16

6 Foot 3

Intelligence 81

Magic Power 0.

Job King of Chaos-Ancient Role.

"Wait a second... KING OF CHAOS!"

========================

Leopold spent all the rest of the day thinking about what had happened at the Occupation Exam. Everyone had seemed to see that he was a Knight and one of the only three epic roles of class 1-D, but no one saw what he did. "King of Chaos... Why me..."

The King of Chaos was the bad guy of the story. Lucifer was the first King of Chaos and was the one that had been along with all of his followers to the Underworld when they all rebelled. Since then, not once King of Chaos have ever been a "good guy" and most have died around an average age of 25 years old! "That also means that I have no shot at good girls like Nix... Worst luck of all time..."

Leopold sighed. "Well, I can't do anything about that... And hey, maybe since no one can see the things I do, I can get away with it!"

As Leo drained himself in his thoughts of wariness, he felt something on his shoulder. A small weight was on it and as he turned around it was... Nix! "Miss Nix! I'm Sorry, but did you need something from me?"

She shook her head. "Y-you just looked like you needed someone to talk to is all! I saw how you got an epic job like me and m-my sister!"

Leopold thought for a moment. "Sister? Just who was her sister again? What was the name of the other beast woman who got an epic role..."

Leopold couldn't think at all... His mind was focused on why in the world Nix was even there and... those cute cat ears! "I could die right now with my life fulfilled..."

"S-so, anyway I just wanted to see if you were doing alright..." Nix mumbled.

Leopold smiled. "Well thank you, Miss Nix. And yes, I am doing quite alright. I did have a question for you however..."

Nix tilted her head. "Question?"

"Yes. There is a little ice cream stand on school grounds that I've heard his quite good. After our final class today, did you want to go and get some with me?"

"Sure!" Nix exclaimed. "Anyway, I've got to run!" With that, she sped away from the scene and left Leopold feeling like a king.

"I get to go on a date with Miss Nix! Wait, this is a date, right?"
