Cabrera Group Inside the towering skyscraper, a suffocating low pressure pervades.
"Who did this?
It's been two whole days, and we still have no leads?"
"Are the people from the tech department just freeloading?
Is this their performance even when they're earning several millions each year?"
"Our clients' information is still being leaked.
If we can't stop the leaks soon,
the Cabrera Group will become the laughingstock in the entire New York.
and you all can start packing up and leaving."
Phillips roar was enough to almost bring down this hundred-meter-tall building.
As the most trusted assistant of Jake, he handles all the big and small affairs of the company.
Two days ago, when the Cabrera Group's business system was mysteriously hacked by a virus program,
he and nearly a hundred members of the technical department haven't had a wink of sleep for two straight days and nights.
"Assistant Phillip, to be honest, it's not that we're incompetent, but the attacker is too tough.
His IP address is dynamic, coming from all over the world, it's practically impossible for us to track it down."
Tech Department Manager, Ryan, swallowed nervously and stubbornly continued,
"As you know, the Cabrera Group's technology department has gathered all the topnotch IT talents of this city.
But still they can't handle this, I fear nobody else can."
At this point, a weak voice was heard from the far corner.
"Actually, there might be a way."
Everyone turned to look where the voice came from.
The speaker was a young man wearing black-framed glasses.
"What's the solution? Speak up!" Phillip urged anxiously.
The young man pushed his black-rimmed glasses up and muttered,
"The solution is... to do nothing and wait for three more days.
The invasion program will then deactivate automatically."
"You... what did you say?" Feeling as though his intelligence was being teased, Phillip rolled up his sleeves, preparing to beat up these eccentric techies.
"Continue speaking." Jake's low, cool voice was heard from the center of the conference room.
His slender fingers were casually fiddling with a pen.
Unlike Philip's agitated demeanor, the man seemed casually indifferent, yet there was an impending sense of tension surrounding him.
When he's around, everyone hardly dares to breathe.
With caution, the young man said, "Based on my analysis, this line of code resembles my idol, the supreme deity in the hacker world.
The moment he uttered these words, the eyes of half the technical team members lit up.
Overwhelmed by the excitement, they began discussing excitedly.
"The Supreme deity is extremely powerful.
No one can break through any program he develops.
The more advanced his codes, the more loopholes they have.
However, his programs also have a distinctive feature:
they only run for five days and then automatically become inactive after."
"In the hacker realm, many legends surround ' the Supreme deity.'
Some say he is a genius teenager; others claim he is already in his fifties or sixties.
In any case... no one has ever seen him."
"But, 'the supreme deity' has been missing for many years.
How could he suddenly appear and specifically target our Cabrera Group?
Is our Cabrera Group really that unlucky?" Unlucky? Suddenly, he recalled what Rhian had said in the hospital.
Tsk, did this woman have some divine power?
Her words were too accurate.
A rough estimate would indicate that the loss suffered by Cabrera Group this time is at least around three billion dollars.
A string of bad luck indeed.
" The supreme deity". Jake furrowed his brows, studying the name carefully with thin lips.
Suddenly, it sparked his competitive spirit.
His eyes narrowed, speaking out coldly, "Philip, send a notification, a bounty of one billion dollars, I want this 'Supreme deity. to be brought to me."
"Ah-choo!"
In the bustling food stall, Rhian sneezed several times in a row, her ears burning hot.
"How odd, my cold is all gone, but why do I keep sneezing?"
Rhian sniffed and pondered whether she should gulp down a couple more sachets of cold medicine.
"It's because someone keeps talking about you every day!"
Jane slapped the 'New York Evening News' down in front of Rhian, gloating,
"Dearie, you're in trouble.
Your aloof ex-husband has put a bounty of a billion on you!"
As Kyle's twin sister, she and Rhian were as close as life and death buddies.
However, unlike Kyle's dog-like admiration for Rhian, she behaves more like Rhian's best frenemy.
Anytime they get together, they would undoubtedly bicker and joke around, it was quite amusing.
Rhian read through the newspaper with a single sweep of her gaze, gave a cold laugh and dismissively said,
"Instead of making such a futile display, he should think about patching up the gaps.
After all these years, the internal system of the Cabrera Group is still so weak.
It breaks at the slightest attack.
There's no challenge at all."
"You sure know how to brag!"
Jane couldn't help but give Rhian a thumbs up, and quickly added,
"Well, you have the right to brag.
After all, you are the legendary goddess of the hacking world, the mighty, Supreme deity!"
"Jake, that stone-faced iceberg, just has a pretty face.
His brain must be full of bubbles.
He left a hidden gem of a wife like you, a cheater who even got someone pregnant. Complete disappointment!"
"He didn't even think about how much you've helped him over the years.
That broken system of Cabrera Group, if it weren't for you quietly fending off attacks, it would have paralyzed long ago...
This ungrateful dog, he had it coming!"
Jane, a number one shipper of Jake and Rhian, has always wished that they could present a drama of Love after Marriage .
And what happened? No love had grown between them, but a mistress and an illegitimate child had entered the picture.
The house was almost collapsing through the ground!
Damn it! She felt she might just be angrier than Rhian herself, wishing to dash into Cabrera Corporation and give that piece of trash man a good beating!
At this moment, the waiter served their freshly-rilled chicken and with a bottle of red wine.
Picking up the red wine and pouring some in her glass, Jane started drinking as though it were distilled water.
Rhian, seeing the sizzling, grease-dripping chicken and the fragrant Red win in front of her,
just sat there without making a move.
"What's wrong, girl?
Why are you just sitting there? Start drinking! You're about to be divorced, freedom is beckoning to you.
We're not going home until we're drunk tonight!"
Rhian bit her lip and shouted to the waiter,
"Boss, give me Cocktail and fried French."
"Pffft!" Jane directly sprayed out her drink, a confused look on her face as she stared at Rhian.
"What's going on, you're about to be divorced, don't tell me you're still playing the role of the demure and proper lady of the upper class, too scared to even drink and eat skewers?"
"I... I'm not feeling well today." Rhian lightly explained, avoiding getting into detail.
She had no intention to reveal to Jane that she was pregnant, to be exact...
she wasn't prepared to tell anyone.
Because, the previous night, she had already booked an appointment with a private hospital, planning to undergo an abortion surgery as early as the day after tomorrow to remove the child.
However, she found herself questioning... despite having firmly decided not to keep the child, why would she still be concerned about drinking and eating chicken would affect the child's development?
"Got it, your period came."
Jane nodded, considering pouring a cup of warm water for Rhian:
"It's alright, drink more warm water. I will take care of the alcohol."
"Thank you, Jane" Taking the warm water, Rhian felt a gentle warmth in her heart.
Looking back, the most right thing she's done over the years was probably when she helped the Steve siblings,
Kyle , and Jane. Now, they've become the people she trusted the most.
Although they were not related by blood, they felt even closer than family!
"Wow, isn't this the elegant and lovely wife of Jake's Cabrera family, who never steps out of her grand mansion? nor braves a foot outside the gate of her mansion?"
A brash voice, making a cutting remark with a sarcastic undertone, echoed from behind them.
