Chapter 52: Phantom slayer.
Shiori had started searching for answers about the Phantoms.
At first, it was nothing more than curiosity. Strange attacks, suspicious disappearances and a growing number of Phantom sightings that didn't quite add up. The pieces refused to fit together, as if someone had deliberately scattered them.
So she began digging.
Following rumors. Collecting reports. Asking questions no one else seemed interested in asking.
She thought she was the hunter. She didn't realize that somewhere in the shadows, someone had already noticed her investigation.
And while Shiori searched for answers... the answers had begun searching for her, too.

We ran on the roofs of the buildings, having a better view of our surroundings.
"The next victim that had recently turned into a phantom, is a student at the magic academy, Gina mills, a first year in class B. She had only just recently escaped from her confinement..." Ciel reported tailing behind me swiftly.
"I see, then she should be somewhere close by, yes?..." I said scanning the area with my skill, radar
bingo!.
There she was, Gina mills. Currently looking like a dark hazy zombie, as she emitted dark energy .
We watched silently, waiting for the so called hunter/ curer to show up.
The phantom turned to the alleyway as someone ran her way. I couldn't see their faces clearly since they were wearing a mask. All I saw was that he or she had black hair...
The phantom growled at the person, they remained unfazed and kept walking forward, stopping just a few meters away.
They whipped out a dark blue colored book from their pocket, pointing it at the phantom before chanting...
He who has corrupt thy soul
There designation shall not be allowed
with this grimoire, I laid salvation upon she who has been cursed

The book glowed as they dashed forward with striking speed, elegant words physical appeared from the book as they skillfully wrapped around the phantom like a seal,
She screamed in pain but she wasn't cut, she wasn't hurt, she was really healing. Her body slowly turning back to normal before collapsing onto the ground.
Wow, so it's a book they use and a magic one apparently😧 a phantom slayer?
"That's our man, let's go." Ciel nodded, preparing to charge at the person.
"Wait!" I pulled him back as someone else came into the person's view
CLAP CLAP CLAP
The slayer turned to the source of the sound, a sliver haired man wearing a mask that only covers half of his face walked up to him. The two were speaking to each other casually.
"Now we can proceed" I said as we leapt silently onto the ground.
"That was fascinating," i said, stepping out from the shadows. "I've never seen a corrupt Phantom restored before. Would you mind explaining how your grimoire works?" Our presence startling the two.
"And Who are you to ask for such information...." The raven haired man spoke stoically as if bored.
" I'm Ciel and this is my master lady Ultamia..." Ciel introduced us.
"Lotus mask? You must be part of the white lotus..." The man asked chirpily.
"That is correct, we hunt in the shadows, watch chaos unfold and only intervene when it's necessary..." Ciel stated our motto bluntly
"And you are?" I quiered.
"That's none of your concern....* The reven haired man spoke
"What do you want with us?" The masked man asked
"We've recently discovered that your comrade over there welds the ability to cure phantoms, we ask that he kindly let us study his technique...." Ciel answered
"No way in hell! This is no playground for a little brat and some noble lady like yourself, please leave us alone..." The man said playfully
"It seems talking is pointless..." Ciel sighed I brought out my staff.
[Webber activated]
The slayer quickly grabbed the man and fled before my webs could capture him...
We followed not so far behind him.

"Who the hell was that?!" The slayer asked
"Those are members of the white lotus, one of the most notorious underground organizations Known for there impressive power and knowledge. That girl is their leader!..." The man answered
"So now what?! If their half as good as I hear, then were in for a tough situation" the slayer said staring ahead as they ran.
"I've got an idea...." The man smirks

I stood in an abandoned warehouse, trying to track their scent.
Where are they?
CRASH!!!
The wall burst opened as the silver haired man came into view.
"Thanks for saving me the trouble of finding you.. where is your comrade?."
"Who knows" he shrugged
"Don't play dumb with me..." I narrowed my eyes
"How disappointing..." He sighed
"The leader of the white lotus I heard if is supposed to be a fearless battle maiden who punishes evil with an unshakable will, that makes everything crumble, quite the sight...yet here I am before you and I can't even sense any mana from your body..."
"Your point?" I quired
"My point is, I'm done playing with you." His eyes had a dangerous glint in them
"I had wish to avoid using my powers if possible, but for you Ultamia I shall make an exception..." He smirks
Just then another ghoul like phantom burst opened the wall from behind me before biting deep into my shoulder.
I groaned in pain, pushing the phantom harshly against a wall as it's fangs were removed from my shoulder.
"As expected, it takes a beast to fight a beast!" He grinned.
This bastard just enjoys running his mouth
He waved his hand, blasting us with strong lightning magic, knocking the phantom out
I stood up strainly as lighting Sparks were still emitting from my body.
" possible! I had charged you with enough electricity to power a city! And the poison from the ghoul should have paralyzed you!" He was dumbfounded
"How cowardly, here I was expecting you to fight me head on..."
"Don't blow your trumpet just yet, Bring him!" He called, causing me to look the entrance. A pair of footsteps approached as the slayer came in to view as he held Ciel as a hostage
"Ciel?!" I panicked
"Know you're predicament, Ultamia, one false move and I could have my friend snap that boy's neck in an instant..." He threatened
Ciel squirmed to break free but it was useless. He was held up like a toy.
"If you dare so much as lay a finger on him, I don't care if your not with the main enemy. I wouldn't hesitate to ease your whole entire bloodline." I threatened with a dangerous glare
His eyes widened as the air got thicker. He laughed
"My lord, I guess women are beasts when wishing to protect something dear to them, their weaknesses are completely gone!... I like it..."
"Huh,?" I blinked
"Your point at weakness, only seem to make you shine the more..." He caress from my hair to my cheek as I felt all the strength leave my body.
I can't move...
"What did you do?"
"Ultamia, or should I say shiori I've become intrigued by you..."

Then he leans in, joining his lips with mine in a seering kiss.

I just sat there, stunned.

I used this chance to sock the guy in the stomach and a ran to Ciel, stopping him because all hell breaks loose.
Leaping onto the nearest building roof as I glared at the two below.
"This isn't over, next time I'll kill you with my own hands got it! until we meet again..." I stated glaring at the man...

"Awww your going to see me again? I can Hardly wait..." He smiled brightly, waving at us
There is something fundamentally wrong with this man
Ciel turned red with anger
"Lady Ultamia, let me go! I'll kill them myself!" He squirmed desperately with dangerously high bloodlust.
"Calm down Ciel, we already got what we came for let's go.." I opened a mist portal and we left...

A deep Darkness has active in draco city, people are strangely disappearing but no phantoms have appeared. I've taken it upon myself to investigate on this matter.

"Axel, I need you to do something for me, demi humans from the academy have been disappearing,I want you to investigate on this..." I said as I stared at my goods,now Branded with my new logo
"Hai! Shiori-sama.." he nodded
"Can you two assist him after work?" I turned to Emma and lance
"You want us to work overtime?!" Emma paled
"Overtime without pay sucks..." Lanced Deadpanned
"I'll give these as bonuses...." I baited them with a jar of strawberry cookies at them.
"We accept" they drooled
"Thought as much.." I giggled.

I was staring at the results board with Chris
"Looks like I'm in 10th place!" Chris said proudly
"Great job not failing Chris..." I smiled
"And we're are you on this list?" He asked searching for my name
"Oh..., I'm in second place..." I sulked
"Really?! Then why are you sulking?"
"I was aiming for 20th below..." He stared at me like I was crazy
I didn't want to attract attention to myself, but the universe loves disrespecting me😞

I sat in the school's garden for a picnic with Mia and jasmine.
""So we're did you two place?" I asked about their scores
"I landed at 13th" Mia said sheepishly
"I landed in 8th, what about you?" Jasmine spoke calmly

As we were walking back was saw a girl run away crying
"Another rejection it seems..." Mia sighed
"Rejection?" I quired
"Recently girls have been confessing to this new student named Nicole Valentine. Each rejection it's more brutal then the last..." Jasmine explained

We walked passed the scene of people gathering to console the girl, passing the cause of it.
"Hello girls!" We turned to the teacher heading our way. A man in his mid thirties dressed in a green nobleman attire, holding a scroll in his hands
"Hello professor Andrew.." we spoke respectfully
"What's up?" I quired
"I need you to sell me 15 of your healing potions..." He said
"That many?!"
"You see during the practical exams, some of my students got hurt. I had tried it on myself once and it's results were absolutely outstanding.." He said sheepishly
"Thanks, ok I'll bring them in three days "
"Thankyou..." He smiled
"No problem." I smiled.
Wait the practical exam isn't till a month, why does he need potions now?

In an abandoned part of the school, axel was interrogating the suspects
"Demi human Trafficking? What are you talking about?" One denied his accusations as axel held him up by his collar
"Don't play dumb with me, I'm aware that your doing experiments on them for you own disgusting reasons!" Axel spat.
After introgating them with no leads, he went into the abandoned building. Looking around, there was nothing but rubble in it.
"What's this?" He asked crouching down to inspect a pair of clothes
"These look new.." he immediately took out his sword and aimed it at someone's neck.
"Don't move if you value your life..." axel threatened.
The person's face was hidden by the darkness but his sly smile could be seen as clear as day
