Chapter 3 - chapter 3 Survival Trial: Rise Beyond Fear

The classroom felt different now.

It was the same cracked walls, the same broken fan spinning lazily above, the same whispers floating in the air—but something had changed.

No… he had changed.

Ravi sat on the last bench, his usual place. But for the first time in his life, he wasn't shrinking into the background. His eyes were steady. Calm. Observing.

A faint blue glow flickered in his vision.

[System Active]

[User: Ravi]

[Level: 2]

[Strength: 6]

[Agility: 7]

[Intelligence: 8]

[Next Mission Pending…]

Ravi exhaled slowly.

"Level 2 already…" he muttered under his breath.

Just yesterday, he had been invisible. Weak. Ignored. A nobody.

Now… something inside him had awakened.

"Oi, last bencher!"

The voice snapped him out of his thoughts.

Ravi looked up.

It was Vikram.

The same guy who had humiliated him countless times. The same guy who made his school life a nightmare.

But today, Ravi didn't feel fear.

Only… clarity.

"What?" Ravi replied calmly.

The entire class went silent.

Even Vikram looked surprised.

"Did you just talk back?" Vikram smirked, walking closer. "Looks like someone forgot their place."

Ravi didn't stand up. He didn't flinch.

He simply looked at him.

And in that moment, something strange happened.

[Analyzing Target…]

[Name: Vikram]

[Threat Level: Moderate]

[Weakness Detected: Slow reaction speed, overconfidence]

Ravi's eyes narrowed slightly.

"So this is how it works…" he thought.

The system wasn't just giving him power.

It was giving him understanding.

"Say something now," Vikram said, grabbing Ravi's collar.

The old Ravi would've trembled.

But not this one.

"Leave it," Ravi said quietly.

"Or what?" Vikram laughed.

Ravi stood up slowly.

The movement itself shocked everyone.

Even Vikram loosened his grip for a second.

And that was enough.

In a split second—

Ravi twisted Vikram's wrist and stepped aside.

"AAH—!" Vikram shouted, stumbling forward.

The class gasped.

"What the hell?!"

Ravi stepped back, calm.

"I told you to leave it."

His voice wasn't loud.

But it carried weight.

Vikram pulled his hand back, furious.

"You think you're strong now?!"

He charged.

Fast.

But not fast enough.

Ravi's vision sharpened.

Everything slowed down.

Every movement. Every step.

He moved instinctively—

Sidestep.

Turn.

Push.

Vikram lost balance and crashed into a desk.

BAM.

Silence.

Complete silence.

No one could believe what they just saw.

The last bench boy… had just taken down Vikram.

Ravi looked at his hands.

They weren't shaking.

For the first time in his life…

He felt in control.

[Mission Completed: Defend Yourself]

[Reward: +2 Strength, +1 Agility]

[New Skill Unlocked: Basic Combat Instinct]

A faint smile appeared on his face.

"This… is just the beginning."

"RAVI!"

The teacher's voice broke the moment.

"What is going on here?!"

Ravi stepped back.

"Nothing, sir."

Vikram got up, embarrassed and angry.

"He attacked me!" he shouted.

The class exchanged glances.

For once… no one supported Vikram.

Because everyone saw the truth.

The teacher sighed.

"Both of you, sit down. I don't want any more nonsense."

Ravi sat back on his last bench.

But now…

It didn't feel like a place of defeat.

It felt like a starting point.

After school—

The sky was turning orange.

Ravi walked alone, hands in his pockets.

His mind was racing.

"This system… it's real."

"And it's growing."

But then—

[Warning]

[New Mission Incoming…]

Ravi stopped walking.

A cold chill ran down his spine.

[Mission: Survival Trial]

[Objective: Reach abandoned factory and survive for 30 minutes]

[Time Limit: 20 minutes to arrive]

[Failure Penalty: Severe]

Ravi's heartbeat increased.

"Abandoned factory…?"

That place…

Everyone avoided it.

Rumors said it was dangerous.

Some said people disappeared there.

Ravi clenched his fists.

"This system… doesn't play easy."

He looked at the timer ticking in his vision.

19:42

19:41

19:40…

"No choice."

He started running.

The streets blurred past him.

His legs moved faster than ever before.

Agility 8…

He could feel it.

Wind rushed past his ears.

His breathing stayed controlled.

Step by step…

He was changing.

10 minutes later—

Ravi stood in front of the factory.

Dark.

Silent.

Broken windows. Rusted gates.

It looked like something out of a nightmare.

He swallowed.

"30 minutes inside this place…"

"Yeah… sounds like death."

But then—

[Mission Active]

[Enter the area]

Ravi took a deep breath.

And stepped inside.

The air was heavy.

Dust floated everywhere.

The floor creaked under his steps.

Every sound echoed.

Too quiet…

Way too quiet.

Ravi's instincts screamed—

"Something's wrong."

Suddenly—

A noise.

Tap… tap… tap…

Footsteps.

Not his.

Ravi froze.

"Who's there?" he called out.

No response.

Just silence.

Then—

A shadow moved.

Fast.

Ravi turned—

But something hit him.

BAM.

He was thrown back.

"UGH—!"

Pain shot through his body.

He rolled and quickly stood up.

His eyes sharpened.

"What… was that?"

Then he saw it.

A figure.

Tall. Thin. Unnatural.

Eyes glowing faintly in the dark.

Not human.

[Enemy Detected]

[Type: Unknown Entity]

[Threat Level: High]

Ravi's heart pounded.

"This isn't a joke anymore…"

The thing moved again.

Faster this time.

Ravi barely dodged.

Claws slashed past his face.

He jumped back.

Breathing heavy.

"Think… Ravi… think…"

The system flashed again—

[Tip: Use environment]

Ravi looked around.

Broken pipes.

Loose metal rods.

Old machines.

An idea formed.

The creature lunged again.

Ravi ran—

Not away…

But towards the machines.

He grabbed a metal rod.

Turned.

And—

CLANG!

He blocked the attack.

The impact shook his arms.

"Damn… it's strong…"

The creature hissed.

Ravi gritted his teeth.

"Good… come again."

The fight had begun.

And this time—

There was no classroom.

No teacher.

No help.

Just him…

And survival.

Minutes passed.

Each second felt like a battle.

Ravi got hit.

He fell.

He stood again.

His body screamed in pain.

But his mind stayed sharp.

Every move…

Every mistake…

He learned.

"Not fast enough…" Ravi muttered.

The creature attacked again—

But this time—

Ravi predicted it.

Sidestep.

Swing.

CRACK.

The rod hit its side.

The creature staggered.

"Got you."

[Skill Improved: Combat Instinct Lv. 2]

Ravi smiled despite the pain.

"Now we're talking."

The timer appeared again—

[Time Remaining: 02:14]

"Almost there…"

But the creature wasn't done.

It screamed—

Louder than before.

And charged with full force.

Ravi's eyes widened.

"No time to dodge…"

He tightened his grip.

"Then I'll face it."

Impact.

A massive clash.

Ravi was pushed back—

But he didn't fall.

He held his ground.

"THIS IS MY FIGHT!"

With a final burst of strength—

He swung.

Hard.

Direct.

The rod hit its head.

CRASH.

The creature fell.

And didn't move again.

Silence.

Heavy.

Real.

Ravi stood there.

Breathing hard.

Sweat dripping.

Body shaking.

But alive.

[Mission Completed]

[Reward: +3 Strength, +2 Agility, +1 Intelligence]

[New Title Unlocked: Survivor]

Ravi dropped the rod.

And laughed softly.

Not out of madness…

But realization.

"This world…"

"It's bigger than I thought."

"And I'm just getting started."

He walked out of the factory.

The night air felt different.

Cooler.

Sharper.

Alive.

The last bench boy…

Was gone.

In his place—

Stood someone new.

Someone stronger.

Someone who refused to disappear.

Ravi looked up at the sky.

And whispered—

"I won't be erased."

"Not anymore."
