"What are you saying, Mrs. Valois?" Renard asked, his brow furrowing as he leaned forward.
"Alpha Renard, it is the truth. My sister called my father, and that is exactly why he left the house that night," Janessa declared, her voice trembling with grief and accusation.
"You must interrogate her. As the Alpha of our pack, you cannot let this stand. My father has been murdered. Adeline came for a single day and then vanished back to the palace. She doesn't even care that he's gone."
Tears streamed down Janessa's cheeks while Catalina stood beside her, silently dabbing at her own eyes with a lace handkerchief.
Renard remained stoic, his eyes scanning their faces. "Do you have any actual proof for this statement? A claim of murder is a heavy burden to carry without evidence."
"The servants," Janessa answered promptly, her eyes flashing. "They heard the call. They saw his reaction. They can testify to everything."
