Chapter 1 - Part 3: The King of Endless Night (Episode 1)

The night felt heavier than before.

Not darker… but deeper.

As if something ancient had awakened and was now watching the world with quiet hunger.

Rin couldn't sleep.

The image of the demon turning to ash replayed again and again in his mind. His first kill.

His first step into a world he could never leave.

Beside him, Aiko rested under a thick cloak, hidden from the faint moonlight. Her breathing was slow… controlled. Almost human.

Almost.

Kaito sat on a rock nearby, his sword resting across his lap.

"You're awake," Kaito said without looking.

Rin sighed. "I don't think I can sleep anymore."

"That means you're starting to understand this life."

Rin looked up at the sky. "Does it ever get easier?"

Kaito paused.

"No."

Silence followed.

The wind rustled through the trees.

Then—

Aiko suddenly sat up.

Her eyes were wide.

Fear filled them.

"They're coming…" she whispered.

Rin turned instantly. "Who?!"

Her body trembled.

"Something… strong…"

Kaito stood.

His hand moved to his sword.

"I feel it too."

The air had changed.

It was suffocating.

Like standing beneath a mountain.

Miles away…

Deep within a ruined temple swallowed by darkness…

Something sat on a throne of bones.

Its appearance was almost human.

Pale skin.

Black hair flowing like shadows.

Eyes… glowing like crimson stars.

This was no ordinary demon.

This was a ruler.

A being feared even among demons.

One of the leaders.

His name… was whispered only in terror.

Akuma no Ō — The King of Endless Night.

He lifted his hand slowly.

A lesser demon knelt before him, shaking uncontrollably.

"You failed," the King said softly.

The demon trembled. "M-my lord… I tried—"

Before he could finish—

The King's fingers moved slightly.

The demon's body twisted violently.

Bones cracked.

Skin tore.

And in an instant…

It exploded into ash.

Silence returned.

The King's glowing eyes narrowed.

"A demon… who protects humans…" he murmured.

"And a boy who dares to fight…"

A faint smile appeared.

"How amusing."

He stood.

The entire temple seemed to tremble.

"Prepare them," he said.

From the darkness, multiple figures appeared—powerful demons, their auras suffocating.

"The hunt begins."

Back in the forest—

Kaito's expression had turned deadly serious.

"We're leaving. Now."

Rin didn't argue.

"What is it?" he asked.

Kaito's voice was low.

"Not something we can fight."

Aiko grabbed Rin's sleeve. "They're getting closer…"

They began moving quickly through the forest.

But it was already too late.

A shadow dropped from the trees.

Landing silently in front of them.

Another appeared behind.

And another.

Three demons.

But these were different.

Stronger.

Their presence alone made it hard to breathe.

"Well, well…" one of them said with a grin. "We found them faster than expected."

Kaito stepped forward, placing himself between them and Rin.

"Stay back," he said.

The demon laughed.

"You're just one slayer."

"And you're just prey."

Kaito drew his blade.

The air shifted.

Rin felt it.

Something different.

Kaito's stance changed… his breathing deepened.

Then—

He moved.

Faster than Rin had ever seen.

His blade flashed like lightning.

One demon's head fell instantly.

But—

It didn't die.

The body moved.

The head laughed from the ground.

"You think we're that weak?"

Kaito's eyes widened slightly.

"These aren't normal demons…"

The second demon attacked.

Kaito blocked—but was pushed back.

Hard.

Rin felt fear creep in.

"They're too strong…"

The third demon looked at Aiko.

"So this is the special one…"

It moved toward her.

Rin stepped in front.

"You're not touching her."

The demon smiled.

"Then die."

It attacked.

Rin reacted—but he was slower.

Too slow.

The demon's claw slashed across his chest.

Blood spilled.

Rin fell.

"RIN!" Aiko screamed.

Something inside her snapped.

Her aura exploded.

Dark energy surged around her.

Her eyes burned brighter than ever.

But this time…

There was no hesitation.

She attacked.

Violently.

Faster than before.

Stronger.

Her claws tore through the demon's arm.

It howled in pain.

"What is this—?!"

Kaito glanced at her.

"She's evolving…"

But it wasn't good.

Aiko's movements were wild.

Uncontrolled.

Dangerous.

Even to Rin.

"Stop her!" Kaito shouted.

Rin struggled to stand.

"Aiko…!"

She didn't respond.

Her humanity was slipping.

Meanwhile…

Far away…

The King stood under the open sky.

Watching.

Even from a distance.

"I see it now…" he whispered.

"That girl…"

His smile widened.

"She will become something extraordinary."

His eyes turned cold.

"And the boy…"

A pause.

"He will either break…"

"Or become a weapon."

The night deepened.

The true battle had only begun.

Back in the forest—

Rin forced himself up.

Blood dripping.

Pain burning through his body.

But he stepped forward.

"Aiko!"

She turned.

Her glowing eyes locked onto him.

For a moment…

She raised her claw.

Ready to strike.

Rin didn't move.

"If you're going to kill me… then do it," he said softly.

Kaito's eyes widened. "What are you doing?!"

Rin smiled weakly.

"But I know you won't."

Silence.

Aiko's hand trembled.

Memories flashed—

Laughing.

Running.

Smiling.

"Bhai…"

Her voice broke.

The darkness around her faded.

She collapsed.

Unconscious.

The remaining demons growled.

"This is getting annoying."

Kaito stepped forward again.

"No more games."

His grip tightened.

His breathing changed.

Even deeper.

Even stronger.

The air around him began to shift.

Rin felt it.

"What is this…?"

Kaito spoke calmly.

"A technique only Demon Slayers use…"

Then—

He vanished.

And the battle truly began.
