Chapter 7 - CHAPTER SEVEN: Liam’s Awakening

"No…" Liam whispered.

He stepped closer to Ava.

"What did you do to us?"

Ava's smile didn't change.

"I made it quiet."

Liam clenched his fists.

"You didn't just stop the voices…"

"…you shut everything down."

Ava didn't deny it.

Hailey tried again.

Reaching out mentally.

Nothing.

For the first time in years—

She felt blind.

Adrian's jaw tightened.

"This is dangerous."

Liam exhaled slowly.

Then looked at Ava.

Really looked at her.

And something clicked.

"She didn't just block us…"

He swallowed.

"…she overrode us."

Everyone went still.

Liam stepped forward again.

"Ava… listen to me."

She looked at him.

Calm.

Distant.

"This isn't you."

Ava tilted her head.

"Of course it is."

Liam shook his head.

"No."

His voice dropped.

Stronger.

Focused.

"Come back."

Ava blinked.

Just once.

Then—

Her expression flickered.

"What… was that?" she whispered.

Liam froze.

Hailey's eyes widened.

"Liam… do it again."

Liam hesitated.

"I didn't even try—"

"Try," Adrian said firmly.

Liam looked at Ava again.

This time—

He focused.

Hard.

Come back to us.

Ava staggered.

Her eyes flickered wildly.

"No… stop…" she whispered.

Liam's breath caught.

"I'm not hurting you—"

"You are!" Ava cried. "It feels like something is pushing me—"

Liam immediately pulled back.

Ava collapsed to her knees.

Breathing heavily.

Silence filled the room again.

But now—

They understood something terrifying.

Liam looked at his hands.

Shaken.

"I didn't just suggest…"

He looked up slowly.

"I forced it."

Adrian's voice was low.

"Then your power isn't influence…"

"…it's control."

Liam's chest tightened.

"No…"

Hailey stepped forward.

"Yes."

She looked at him carefully.

"You can override people's thoughts."

Liam shook his head.

"I don't want that."

But deep inside—

A thought whispered.

Or maybe… you already used it more than you think.

He froze.

"…What if I've been doing it without knowing?"

No one answered.

Because they were all thinking the same thing.

The Hidden Enemy

Elsewhere…

Far from the house.

A man sat in a dark room.

Screens glowing softly around him.

On the screens—

Ava.

Liam.

Hailey.

Adrian.

He smiled.

"So…"

he whispered.

"They've finally awakened."

His eyes gleamed with interest.

"The Seer…"

He looked at Ava's image.

"And the Controller…"

His gaze shifted to Liam.

"Perfect."

He stood slowly.

"For years… I've searched for this power."

His voice darkened.

"And now…"

"I know exactly where to find it."

THE BATTLE

Back at the house

Everything changed fast.

The attacks started that night.

Not physical.

Mental.

Ava screamed again—

But this time—

The voices weren't random.

They were targeted.

"You don't deserve this power…"

"Give it to us…"

"We're coming…"

Liam grabbed his head.

"I feel them too!"

Hailey's eyes widened.

"Someone is pushing into our minds—"

Adrian turned sharply.

"Who?"

A voice answered.

Not from them.

From everywhere.

"I am."

The room darkened.

And he appeared.

The man from the screens.

Smiling.

"I've been waiting for your family."

Ava staggered.

"You're the one…"

He nodded.

"Yes."

"The one who understands your gift better than you ever will."

Liam stepped forward.

"Stay away from my family."

The man laughed.

"Or what?"

Liam's eyes hardened.

"I'll make you."

The air shifted.

The battle began

Not with fists

But with minds.

The enemy attacked Ava

Flooding her with voices.

Trying to break her.

She screamed

But this time

She fought back.

"I'm not weak!" she cried.

And suddenly

The noise stopped.

Not because she blocked it

But because she controlled it.

Hailey smiled softly.

"She's learning…"

Meanwhile

The man turned to Liam.

"Let's see how strong you really are."

He pushed into Liam's mind

Hard.

Liam dropped to one knee.

Pain exploded in his head.

Bend.

Submit.

Break.

Liam clenched his fists.

"No…"

He stood up slowly.

"I don't control people…"

His voice deepened.

"I protect them."

And then

He pushed back.

Harder.

Stronger.

The man's smile faded.

"What

"You don't get to touch their minds!" Liam shouted.

And in one final surge

He shut the man down.

Completely.

Silence.

The man collapsed.

Gone.

Days later…

The house was quiet again.

Peaceful.

Ava sat beside Hailey.

"I can control it now," she said softly.

Hailey smiled.

"I knew you could."

Across the room—

Liam leaned against the wall.

"I'm still figuring mine out," he admitted.

Adrian nodded.

"You will."

Liam smirked slightly.

"Yeah… but I'll try not to accidentally control the whole world."

Ava laughed.

"Please don't."

Hailey looked at all of them.

Her family.

Different.

Powerful.

Connected.

"This gift…" she said softly.

"It's not a curse."

Adrian took her hand.

"It's our legacy."

Ava smiled.

Liam nodded.

And for the first time—

The voices…

Were finally at peace.
