Chapter 37 - C37.Sun King… why is it the Sun King!?

During this time, the members of the gathering were not without the thought of escaping.

But the unknown restraint imposed on them had not faded. They still could not move at all.

All they could do was endure, watching the two green-haired monsters endlessly play a game that would never have a winner.

As time passed, the day Mozo began to act finally arrived.

Only then did the two green-haired creatures regain a trace of sanity.

Tomb, who had been playing, saw the green hair on his face rapidly recede, restoring his original appearance.

Meanwhile, the first monster grinned at the remaining members.

"Come on. Become me. Become a part of the great Green Angel!"

"Once that poor fool finally 'luckily' becomes the Fool, we'll go cause chaos. We'll turn this damned place upside down! Saints, rituals, those damned queens, all of it can go to hell! Hahahahaha!"

As he spoke, he strode forward and pressed his hand onto Vodka's head.

Vodka let out a painful scream.

Then, just like Tomb earlier, disgusting green hair began to grow across half of his face.

Seeing this, the already assimilated Tomb clapped his hands in delight, drooling as his normal half-face was once again overtaken by green hair.

"Good, good! I'm multiplying. I'm multiplying again! This is how it should be. This is how it should have been!"

The transformed Vodka grinned grotesquely.

"Once we convert this entire city, once there are thousands of 'me,' we won't have to fear that white mask anymore!"

But in the next moment, as if suffering from split minds, all of them suddenly spoke coldly in unison,

"No. That won't work. We cannot resist the Ten-Person Contract. Not yet. Not yet!"

Then one of them took out the Tarot deck again, smiling.

"The completion level is far beyond expectations. We should thank the great Sun King. Thank Lorain and Haither. Without their final interference, it wouldn't be this perfect."

The transformed Vodka approached Flowerbed, who was filled with despair, and placed a hand on their head.

"As long as we have this, we will definitely find a way to escape that cursed thing!"

But after Flowerbed was also transformed, he suddenly showed a trace of worry.

"What if… what if we fail again, just like before?"

For the first time, Audrey found that these creatures, who seemed somewhat 'normal,' did not disgust her.

Instead, they felt… holy.

Their grotesque faces carried a strange, angelic sanctity.

And yet, their actions remained those of demons and monsters.

Faced with the concern, the other Green Angels replied calmly,

"Then we keep searching."

As they spoke, it seemed they had loosened their control.

Audrey suddenly realized she could move.

Without hesitation, she pulled out an attack rune she had recently prepared and hurled it at the original green-haired monster.

But before it could even reach him, the rune disintegrated into dust midair.

Seeing this, Audrey immediately scrambled toward the exit.

But after only two steps, she froze in despair.

The door that had been right in front of her had turned into a wall.

There was no escape.

She was finished.

All she could do was curl up in the corner, trembling in fear.

The assimilated Tomb glanced at her casually.

"Don't worry. You're next."

As he spoke, he pressed his hand onto White Dove's head.

Soon, everyone except Audrey had been assimilated.

Then, all the Green Angels in the room turned toward her.

Different faces.

Yet completely identical.

The scene was twisted and surreal.

Audrey trembled like a leaf and shut her eyes tightly.

The Green Angels deliberately slowed their footsteps as they approached her, clearly enjoying themselves.

Her brief freedom had only been granted for their amusement.

As the footsteps drew closer, Audrey recalled the moment she had narrowly escaped death last time.

The only miracle she had ever witnessed in her life.

And once again, she softly recited those words in a trembling voice.

"O King of Glory, more exalted than the sun!"

As high-sequence beings from the Formless Court, the Green Angels naturally understood the ancient language.

They burst into wild laughter.

"The Sun King? Hahahaha! A human praying to the king of the elves?"

Amid the laughter, the Green Angel formed from White Dove clutched his stomach and sneered,

"Stop struggling, you foolish girl. The Sun King has been dead for ages. And even if He were alive, why would He save a mere human like you?"

But as they laughed, their voices gradually faltered.

Because they saw it.

After Audrey spoke those words, a faint emerald glow began to emanate from her body.

Not the sickly green of their hair.

But a pure, vibrant green.

The color of nature.

The color of the sacred tree.

The color of elven miracles.

The Green Angel White Dove's mouth fell slightly open.

Then, straightening up, he used his high-sequence authority to shout at her,

"Kneel!"

A pressure strong enough to force a Sequence Five to their knees instantly.

Yet it had no effect on Audrey.

She only trembled slightly from fear.

Nothing more.

At the same time, a radiant emerald sigil manifested before her.

The Green Angels recognized it immediately.

It was the mark of the Sun King's personal servants.

A warning to all.

This person belongs to the exalted King, the Sun King.

Do not touch.

Or face the wrath of the elven armies.

In the next instant, all the Green Angels pointed at Audrey in shock.

"Impossible!"

"How is this possible?!"

"Why are you a servant of the Sun King?! He's been dead for ages!"

How could a dead king still have such a young servant?

Hearing their disbelief, Audrey slowly opened her eyes.

What she saw were the Green Angels, their faces filled with shock… even fear.

And the emerald sigil floating before her.

Isn't this the mark that puppet left on me last time?

Wait… it looks different now?

More intricate?

More refined?

But didn't Mozo remove it?

And what does 'servant of the Sun King' even mean?!

Audrey was completely confused.

But… it seemed…

She was safe.
