Chapter 22 - Chapter 22

Calli stares at Fate in undisguised horror, faintly hearing some kind of ringing sound in the background - either it's her brain just not processing things right, or her magic is causing it. Either way…

"What do you mean Roo created Hell?" They said - all of Heaven said - it had been created as a direct result of Lucifer giving Eve the 'Forbidden Fruit' and damning humanity by introducing evil into the world and Hell being created as a result. That was what Lucifer told her and Lilith, anyway, after they were relatively safe and Lucifer could speak somewhat coherently.

Fate shrugs, either unknowing or indifferent to the maelstrom of emotions currently raging in Calli, and says "Exactly that. Roo's the one that created Hell - thought you knew, what with having gone up and down every inch of the place so many times."

Vaggie mutters "Oh, this is gonna get ugly…"

The room suddenly darkens, the ground suddenly shakes, and Calliope whirls on Sera even as her skin and eyes start glowing ominously. "You didn't even FUCKING INVESTIGATE?! YOU JUST PICKED THE EASIEST SCAPEGOAT TO BLAME?! ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!"

Lute charges Calli with a battle-cry…only to find her wrist snapped, her arm dislocated, and her getting thrown into Adam faster than she can even process what's happening.

It's when chunks of the ceiling start falling and the stands attached to the wall start creaking and coming loose that Charlie stumbles over to Calli and wraps her arms around the shorter woman, yelling "Aunt Calli! You gotta calm down!" As much as she really wants to see someone's head roll for what Fate just said…she came here to find a peaceful alternative to the Exterminations.

And her Aunt is likely about to make Extermination Day look like a nice picnic somewhere.

To everyone else's sheer unending relief, the earthquake slows to a halt and the room lightens back up after about a minute - Calliope still looks absolutely livid, but it seems like the potential start of the end of the world has passed.

Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael all trade horrified looks when everything slows to a halt - that was exactly like what happened all that time ago, the sky darkening and Heaven itself shaking. At the time, it was thought that it was the signal that Hell had been created…could it have been Calliope all along? Could it have just been her being incredibly upset?

Did…did they really Fall Lucifer over her temper?

What could've even set her off like that back then?!

Calli takes a breath, then looks at Charlie and says "You need to go home, Chars. I'll be back after I finish up with Heaven. Just go home, tell your Dad I'll be fine…and wait until I'm back before telling him about this little update."

Charlie blinks, asking "What? Aunt Calli-"

Calli puts her hands on Charlie's shoulders, saying "We will tell him…I just want to be there to pick up the pieces, is all." Because she's got no illusions whatsoever about this, this news will break Lucifer all over again, shatter him maybe even worse than when he actually Fell.

Charlie nods, asking "You going to be okay?"

Calli runs a hand through her hair, then says "Not for a while, Chars. Not going to lie about that one." Calli opens up a portal back to the Hotel, and Hedwig comes flying through it to land on her shoulder.

"Oh, great," Gabriel mutters, "there's the bird..." He remembers that bird, how it watched his every move he made while he was in Calliope's cottage...how it could turn its head so unnervingly to keep track of him no matter where he was.

Once Charlie and Vaggie are through the portal, Calliope's expression twists back into one of utter fury. Everyone's sure she's about to restart bringing the courtroom down on everyone's heads, but all she does is shout "NEW MEETING! SERAPHIM AND ARCHANGELS ONLY! YOUR OFFICE, SERA. ONE HOUR!" She'd keep reaming all of Heaven out right here and now...but she's got something quite a bit bigger than a courtroom full of a pack of hypocritical, gaslighting morons and Emily off to the side to deal with.

And then, to everyone's utter confusion, she opens a new portal and runs through it, Hedwig staying firmly anchored to her shoulder as they disappear.

Azrael makes his way up to Sera's office, following the feeling of Calli's magic to lead him there until his ears pick up her shouts - she hates Heaven with an undying passion, but she not even on her worst days has she gone from being utterly amused by something to murderously furious in less than five minutes.

Yet, somehow, that's exactly what happened today - she called him up not five minutes into his search for Eve's file, saying to meet her in Heaven in an hour, and she sounded angry enough he genuinely thought he'd be losing some relatives.

And yet…there's no golden bloodbath, though the courtroom is an absolute mess, no dismembered bodies lying around, and something was revealed that shook everyone to their cores. He takes his wings out and starts flying, though, when he hears Calli shouting at the top of her lungs "YOU JUST WANTED TO KEEP YOUR DAMN STATUS QUO!"

When Azrael gets to the right door, he sees Calli and Sera in something of a standoff on either side of Sera's desk, Adam and Lute looking distinctly out of place next to the two powerful beings, and Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael off to the side opposite the Mortal Soul and Angel.

And Emily is just standing against a wall, eyes locked on the screaming match happening between Calli and Sera…even as it looks like Calli just has Sera on the wrong foot the whole way. Even though she looks like she went spelunking, face and arms streaked with dirt and grime, and wearing her battle armor he hasn't seen in ages. What, exactly, was his favorite work-and-adoptive-sister doing the past hour?

Aside from successfully cowing beings twice her height with laughable ease, that is.

Tilting his head to the side as Sera tries to respond to Calli, Azrael sees Raphael's ugly-crying in Gabriel's arms, the Messenger having his face buried in the Healer's hair, Michael positioning himself so he's blocking Calli's view of the two younger brothers...while looking guilty as shit himself. Seems he missed quite the world-shattering relvelation, then.

"You were always happy to hide behind Lucifer whenever I called you out for your gaslighting bullshit, Sera! Well, guess what? LUCIFER ISN'T HERE! AND DON'T YOU GODDAMN DARE USE THAT KID AS A SHIELD INSTEAD!"

Sera shakes her head as Calli points directly at Emily, saying "We had no idea-"

"You never checked! You just saw an opportunity to get rid of him, and you took it with both hands!"

Azrael clears his throat, getting everyone's attention, and asks "Do I even want to know?"

Emily zooms over first, saying "Oh, thank him you're here…who're you? Actually, doesn't matter, it's bad. Like, really bad."

"Name's Azrael, Calli's favorite coworker and work-brother. What happened?"

Raphael comes zooming over to Azrael, wrapping his arms around the other Archangel's torso as he buries his face in the closest surface and keeps sobbing away - forcing Azrael to put one hand around the shorter Archangel to keep him from shifting anymore, the other one steadying himself so he doesn't fall over altogether.

Glancing between Calli's murderous expression, Sera's utterly relieved one, Gabriel and Michael's guilty-looking ones, and Emily's I'm-completely-out-of-my-depth look, Azrael pulls Eve's tiny file out of his jacket and says "Calli, you want to see this. We've got a problem. Care to fill me in on...this?"

Calli snorts, saying "We've got a lot of problems. Your and Luci's extended family are all a pack of morons who can't do five minutes of actual thought if it would literally save all their lives."

Azrael raises an eyebrow as he passes Calli the thin folder, glancing at Raphael's shaking form before asking "No, really, what happened?"

Emily clears her throat, and says "So, a woman that called herself Fate showed up at the meeting…"

Azrael groans, saying "Oh, this can't be good. Keep going."

Calli flatly says "Roo made Hell. How the fuck has Eve not died?!"

Adam asks "Uh…what now? What do you mean-"

Azrael flatly says "Exactly what she just said. The human soul you know as Eve has yet to end their first - only - life as a mortal. Cals, what do you mean Roo made Hell? I know you sealed that monster away in Hell, but…" But he helped take care of Lucifer when Lilith was physically exhausted and Calliope was whipping the lower Rings into shape, along with when Calliope had drained herself so much she was about to collapse and unintentionally make Lilith take care of two powerful beings. He helped change Lucifer's bandages, keep him cool when he developed a fever from his body starting to change to survive in Hell, made Lilith and Calliope crash for much-needed sleep many times...and now Calli's saying Heaven just took the easy way out and blamed three innocent people?

Calli snorts derisively, saying "She's the only being from this reality that could twist even an Archangel's body and powers. Can't believe I didn't see it before…"

Azrael flatly says "I can, you two were absolutely exhausted even by the time I finally found you. What I can't believe is what you just told me - Roo made Hell? Roo? Not Lucifer when he gave Eve the fruit you Enchanted?"

Michael rasps out "What?! She…Lucifer gave Eve one of the Forbidden Fruit…" Right?! He gave her one of the fruits from the Forbidden Tree, that's the only source of apples in the entire Garden! ...right?

Calliope flatly asks "The fuck are you talking about?"

"The Forbidden Fruit! From the Tree in the Garden! They were apples! That was the only source of apples in existence back then!"

Calliope deadpans "Are you serious?! I was in that garden exactly once in its entire existence before Lucifer was banished to Hell. And that was to make sure there were no complications with humanity's start. And it's a good thing I was there! " Besides, if she had snuck into the Garden to steal an off-limits piece of fruit to give to Lucifer to give to Eve...why in the world wouldn't she have just given it to Eve herself?! Do these people even think for five seconds?!

Adam says "No, you weren't, I'd remember you!"

Calli snorts, waves a hand, and suddenly everyone's staring at a recreation of the Garden…with another copy of Azrael and Calliope standing beside two unconscious humans.

Azrael glances at the two unconscious humans, and says "So, this is the start of humanity. Honestly, not as climactic as I'd thought."

Calli scoffs, saying "Big things starting rarely are, in my experience, Az. Neither of us can be seen, don't want to interfere."

Azrael nods, saying "I gotta get back soon anyway. Didn't you say you aren't-"

Calliope rolls her eyes, saying "Welcome or wanted in Heaven? Yeah. I'm not one of them, and everyone knows it. If they want to actually make me feel like I'm not being judged and found lacking whenever I'm there…well, I'm hardly hiding. Lucifer knows where I live."

"You told Lucifer."

Calli shrugs, saying "It's not like I made my place invisible or anything. Nobody else has any inclination to make me feel at-all welcome, so they've never come looking for me. It's just easier if I stay away."

A male groan sounds, making both winged people look at them in surprise before Azrael takes off and Calliope climbs a nearby tree and turns herself invisible. The two newly-created humans slowly come to, getting to their feet and looking around.

The tall, curvy blonde woman looks around, asking "Where are we?"

The brunette man eyes her up, saying "Who cares? Come suck me off, already, bitch!"

The blonde gets a glare, and says "No, you jerk!" She suddenly goes flying, having been backhanded. The next thing she sees is a flash of red, and the man is unconscious once more…and then there's a red-head in red and black cloth with a resigned expression on her face.

"Welp, humanity's doomed. So much for that idea, I guess." Giving the unconscious man a look, she holds out a hand to the blonde, saying "Bit of advice? Next time, punch him square in the Adam's Apple. Works every time, with guys. You have a name?"

The blonde woman shakes her head, asking "How did you…"

"Do that? Magic. C'mon, up you come. Follow me, I'll get you fixed up at my place. Name's Calliope, but my friends call me Calli."

"What…what do you think I should be called?"

Calli thinks for a moment, then says "Well, my full name is Calliope Liliana Peverell. I was named after my mother, Lily. For you…how 'bout Lilith?"

The newly-named Lilith nods, a smile blooming on her beautiful face despite the bruise that's already forming, and says "Lilith, I like it. What about him?"

Calli looks at the unconscious man, and says "I just Stunned him. He'll wake up…eventually. You're going to want these," Calli waves her hand, and Lilith suddenly has a white shift on that covers her from the shoulders to just over her ankles, and a pair of sandals on her feet, "and hang on once we get out of here."

Everything fades back to Sera's office, and everyone including Lute is staring at Adam like he's the world's biggest dumbass - which, in Calli and Azrael's opinions, he is.

"Yeah," Calli sarcastically asks "anybody still wondering why Lilith never came back to this brain-dead shit-stain?"

There's a round of no's, and Adam snaps "Would you stop calling me that?"

Azrael deadpans "You are a brain-dead shit-stain, brat. She's actually being half-way nice with that description, forgot to add in chauvinistic, asinine, rude…" Pinching the bridge of his nose, and setting Raphael down since he's finally stopped outright sobbing, Azrael adds "And then they brainwashed Eve after that? Not even the one who put his foot in his mouth to begin with?"

"Yeah," Calli bites out, "they brainwashed Eve."

Gabriel goes to protest, but Calli says "Shut it, you sycophantic little errand boy! Yes, Eve was damn well brainwashed - how else would he have gotten any kids out of her?"

Azrael says "I'd really like to know how that happened, truth be told - I know for a fact she was a perfectly normal when she first gained a body." Gaze locking onto Gabriel, he asks "What happened after I gave her to you, exactly?"

"What?!" Calli's gaze locks onto Gabriel, who swallows nervously at the sudden feeling of being prey in a deadly predator's sights.

"Sera said she wanted to introduce her to Adam herself! Make sure Eve didn't vanish like Lilith did! We searched for months without finding her…" And it turns out she was with Calliope that whole time?

…figures, they never thought to search outside the Garden for her.

Calli's gaze locks onto Sera, looking for all the world like she's about to rip the Seraphim limb from limb - starting with her wings, no less - but Adam laughs nervously and says "What's the big deal? She never seemed to mi-" Adam promptly finds himself with Calliope's hand locked around his throat tight enough it's hard to breathe, his face smashed into the table, and Azrael pulling Calliope off him altogether before she strangles him to death.

"Are you kidding me?!" Calliope screeches from where Azrael's holding her up in the air, "Are you serious right now? What's the big deal!?"

Once he's relatively sure Calliope's not going to rip Adam's head from his shoulders with her bare hands, Azrael sets her down and flatly says "It's not consent if someone is physically unable to say no, you moron. This is why you're a brain-dead shit-stain."

Everyone else stares at Calliope in shock - they didn't even see her move. Michael suddenly gets the uncomfortable feeling that, had Calliope really wanted to hurt him when they first met…she would've. He might've been created with the knowledge of how to fight…but he wasn't that fast then and he's not that fast now.

Shit, did they really misread everything about this woman?

Azrael pinches the bridge of his nose…until Calli's phone rings.

"You must be joking," Calli mutters once she sees who's calling "what does she want now?" Standing up, she says "Keep going, I'll be back in a minute."

Azrael pseudo-conversationally says "Calli has a thing about brainwashing, mind-control, and a general lack of consent. Half-experience, half-cultural, I think she said. This is a hill she will die and come back to life on again and again, so you'd be better off altogether in just giving in on this one."

"Bee, no less than three Rings had better be on fire right now…"

Raphael wipes at his face, indignantly asking "What kind of culture would have mind-control as an actual thing?" Even without being a Healer, that is absolutely horrifying.

Azrael shrugs, saying "The one she was born to. They could use magic, could do all kinds of things. One of those things, unfortunately, was being able to manipulate a person's thoughts, feelings, entire personality if they were really thorough. Another was…well, she said 'mind reading' was a really crude way to put it, but you get the idea."

Raphael looks horrified, asking "They…they could just-"

"Break into someone's head like it was a bank vault? It was possible, apparently, and Calli apparently had it done on her countless times without her knowledge while she was a kid. Same with the other thing I said, an old man apparently decided what kind of person she was going to be when she was a toddler. Fucked her up for a lot of years after she found out and everything was broken. So, I'll say it one more time, don't try to fight her on this. Who's brilliant idea was it to brainwash the new soul we'd gotten ready, instead of even shit-for-brains over there?"

Adam snaps "Hey!"

Azrael shrugs, saying "You're the one that screwed up the first time. Reap what you sow. 'Sides," he adds, "it's not like you would've minded."

"You mean to tell me you guys are all arguing…over decoration colors? Are you serious right now, Beelzebub?" Dragging a hand down her face, Calli says "Her favorite colors are red like my hair, green like my magic, and white like Lilith's pearl necklace. Yes, I'm aware of what they might imply, no I do not give a damn."

The silence is so thick in the room, you could hear a pin drop - as such, it's perfectly possible to hear a female voice asking "You okay, Calli? You sound a little tense. Bad day?"

"You want to know the kind of day I'm having, Beelzebub? Look!" Calli flips the phone over to reveal she's on a video call with a group of demons - and none of the other occupants of the room have ever seen a group of gigantic demons cower in fear so much so quickly. Not even Adam and Lute.

The one with the flaming head that's got the red-skinned one in a headlock has his flames dim so low they almost go out, the red-skinned one visibly shrinks in on himself, the fox-like one swears as the screen goes flying, and they see the goat-like demon go stiff as a board before the view switches to all-white.

"Ok, Calli, thanks for the advice! We'll get out of your hair, BYE! SOMEBODY CUT THE CALL! BEL, IT SLID UNDER YOUR CHAIR!"

"Oh, she's SO pissed! I can't reach- OUCH! Dammit, Satan! Get your horns out of my fur!"

Calli ends the call herself, shoving the phone back in her pocket.

Azrael cracks up at that, asking "How badly did you beat all their asses, Calli? That was hilarious!"

Calli rolls her eyes, and says "Oh, please."

Gabriel weakly says "They weren't afraid that they'd just been faced with Heaven."

Azrael smirks, saying "Oh, no. They were utterly terrified because Calli's currently in Heaven. And they just drew her attention to them…over birthday decorations, of all things. She put the fear of her into them about…eh, ten thousand years ago."

Calliope rolls her eyes, deadpanning "I wonder why…wait, no I don't. Now, what's this about me giving Lucifer some Forbidden Fruit I knew nothing about? Are you kidding?! If I were going to do that, why wouldn't I have just given it to Eve myself, brain-trust?!"

Michael says "The Forbidden Fruit, if you hadn't given it to him…"

Calliope raises an eyebrow at Michael, fury twisting her expression once more, and asks "Then he'd still be here? Is that what you've been telling yourself all this time?" Calliope plants both hands on the desk, staring down Michael - and now Michael gets just how she cowed a pack of powerful-looking demons just by telling them she's in Heaven. "You think it's my fault Lucifer isn't up here? That you had no choice whatsoever, but the blame all rests at my feet? Well, I'll just lay that misconception in its grave now - Lucifer is gone because of you, Michael. You were the one that bound him in chains with spikes an inch long and thicker than my thumb going all over it that impaled him, you were the one that tortured him in front of the Court, you were the one that ripped his wings out of his back one by one as he begged you not to - you were the one that threw him headfirst into the portal to Hell when he was weakened, his powers bound, and had no way of slowing his fall or even not landing on his head. All for a crime he never committed, all for a crime that none of us committed. Lucifer's blood is on your hands, all the pain he went through, all the suffering he experienced - that's on you." Her expression pinches as Michael rears his head back like she's physically struck him, and she adds "And I hope you choke on it for the next ten thousand years, asshole."

Raphael says "We never knew-"

Calli whirls on Raphael once more, snapping "You never wanted to know! You never wanted to know he likely would've died had I not caught him before he hit the ground! You never wanted to know it was all we could do to keep him from getting an infection in one of his many injuries, keep his body from just giving out due to his injuries, or dehydration, or when he started being affected by Roo's energy down there! You never wanted to know Lilith and I took turns keeping watch over him in case he suddenly took a turn for the worse, or his fever spiked, or he started throwing up what little he'd managed to keep down in the first place!" She's about to keep going, keep unloading the first eight months of worry she and Lilith went through on the Archangel, the fear, the stress, the exhaustion, the all of it that all three of them went through because of Heaven…when her phone rings once more.

Raphael's never been so grateful for the invention of cellphones as he is right now, with Gabriel pulling him behind Michael once more as a fresh round of heartbroken, gut-wrenching sobs erupts from him.

Azrael flatly says "My advice, don't talk to her. I helped keep watch over Lucifer at first, while Calliope was busy keeping him and Lilith safe - and, learning he never should've gone through that in the first place is not only seriously fucked up but is pissing me off to no end. Who the hell was in charge of the investigation?"

Michael looks at the table, shoulders slumped since Calliope laid all the blame for Lucifer's current whereabouts and the past ten thousand years at his feet, and says "Nobody, not really. We all went searching for what might've caused the sky to darken and Heaven to shake, found a giant crack in the mountains…"

"The mountains that were never explored, to my knowledge?"

"Carmilla, this had better be good. What do you mean the Vees are making trouble?"

Azrael pinches the bridge of his nose, shaking his head and says "As for the sky darkening…let me guess, you saw something similar when Calliope learned of Hell's actual creation?" At everyone's nods, Azrael says "I know exactly what happened, then. Calli learned Eve had been mind controlled, lost her shit like she undoubtedly did earlier, and it reached Heaven. Heaven finally discovered Hell, needed some kind of explanation, and found out Eve had been freed. Coincidence got turned into correlation, and so Lucifer Fell. Does that sound about right?"

Gabriel nods, holding a once-more-sobbing Raphael in his arms and wings, but before he can say anything Calliope starts hissing before saying "Give me his number, Carmilla. I'll stop them in their tracks if they have any brains whatsoever in about a minute." She quickly hangs up the call, her phone buzzes, and then she starts a new one. "Vox, it's Calliope. Don't bother asking why I'm calling, we both already know. The media shitstorm you three are causing because that drug-spitting rapist forgot himself and lost Anthony because of it. Let me make it transparently clear just what kind of day I'm having and what kind of mood I'm currently in. I'm up in Heaven, have been since ten in the morning, had to wade through a bullshit trial where the proverbial judge and prosecutor tried to pull their usual gaslighting routine and keep the rest of Heaven from learning of the Exterminations - which, yes, apparently most of them never knew anything about it. Then, it comes to light that my two best friends were brutally, sadistically punished for a so-called crime they never even committed. Are you starting to get an idea of what my mood currently is?"

"C-Crystal, Miss Peverell…"

"Good. Now, I'm only going to say this once, Vox, so I don't care if you have to record it and play it back to that drug-brained pimp you decided would be a good business partner. If I come back from the screaming match I'm currently in and find even a single trace of Valentino's pheromones anywhere near the Hotel, I will personally raze your tower to the ground, rip his wings off and use them as a pair of tacky curtains, rip every one of his teeth out of his head one by one, skin him alive, castrate him with a blunt, rusty scalpel, put his tongue through a pencil sharpener, and dump a vial of immunizer I made that makes one utterly unaffected by his saliva down his throat before letting Hedwig have what's left of him once he stops throwing up - AM I CLEAR?"

"Holy shit…"

"Am. I. Clear. Vox?"

"Yes! Yes, you're explicitly clear, Miss Peverell. Good…good luck with that meeting, I'll just hang up now…VAL! VAL, GET YOUR ASS OVER HERE! WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT GO TO THAT DAMN HOTEL!"

Calliope cuts the call at that point, and turns around to see everyone bar Azrael is staring at her in abject horror.

Azrael, on the other hand, just snorts and says "That was your best threat yet, Cals."

Calliope sits down and rubs at her temples "Alright, where was I…?" Glancing at everyone's expressions, she smirks and says "Cross my heart and hope to die, welcome to my dark side. Get used to it."

Emily swallows, now she gets why everyone was so worried about her…and, apparently, none of them ever knew she could get that vicious!

Azrael glances around, then evenly says "I believe Sera was going to say Extermination was going to be ended."

Adam says "Fuck no!" This woman may be terrifying, but he'll just personally ram an Angelic spear through her heart and be done with it! That'll get rid of her...hopefully.

Calli chuckles darkly, saying "If you had any thoughts at all in your head, you'd think I was the one leading the hypothetical uprising. Let me disabuse you of that notion - if I were going to suddenly decide to raze Heaven to the ground, then I wouldn't waste my time gathering an army to storm your golden gates. I'd just knock the fucking things down myself. Am I clear?" She needs to get out of here soon, her head's spinning like mad and the sterile smell is making her lightheaded. And it's just making her head throb even worse, making her already-bad mood take a nosedive.

Maybe this was Sera's reason for having them come so early, incapacitate her via exposure to Heaven's energy after so long being in Hell - Hell's air stopped setting their lungs on fire and burning their skin a long time ago, and Charlie never had that problem…but she won't be surprised if Charlie wakes up tomorrow feeling like crap.

All that combined with how she went and recharged the Wards keeping Roo Sealed in the 9th Ring, and she's about to fall over…not that she's about to let anyone know that.

Calli's phone buzzes again, this time with Charlie's number, and she sees a text come in saying 'SOS!' A call quickly starts up, and Calli immediately answers it asking "What is it? Is something on fire? Who's that in the background?"

"Um, Calli! It's Vaggie…we sorta ran out of ways to stall. And Lucifer was assuming the worst, so…Charlie just panic-blurted out everything. He's been like this for about five minutes, has what basically amounts to a death grip on Charlie, and it doesn't look like it's going to slow down anytime soon…"

"Shit, this is why I said to wait until I got back…alright, I'll be there in five minutes, alright? Just keep him sitting down, try to keep him breathing, I'll be there soon." Hanging up the phone, Calli yells "Alright, idiots, backstabbers, and Azrael, and Emily! Meeting's over! Any Exorcists that come down to Hell are going to die, end of story! As official Ambassador of Hell's Royal Family, any and all further communication between Heaven and Hell will be going through me until diplomatic relations drastically improve! Emily, take this," She makes another crystal pendant appear, slices her wrist open with a knife she didn't have before, and squeezes a few drops of blood onto it while hissing, then continues saying "it'll let me know if you get into any trouble because of all this."

Emily puts it on at Azrael's encouraging nod, and Calli adds "Only you can take it off, and I really don't recommend it. If nobody's planning on Falling you like they did Lucifer, it'll stay a pretty little decoration. If they are…well, I wouldn't put it past them. They got rid of the best and brightest of them all at the first opportunity because he wouldn't just be satisfied with the way things were."

Azrael opens a portal up to about three feet outside the Hotel for Calli, and then promptly holds his staff out to block Gabriel and Raphael from trying to follow her as she runs through. Not only is Raphael and Gabriel going down there after Calliope a really terrible idea, he's got no illusions that she'll leave them alive or intact if they dare to get without a thousand miles of Lucifer.
