Chapter 5 - Goals

My head rocked with pain, the after effect of over magic usage, or the name, magic sickness. Stella grabbed me from behind, catching me as I fell.

"Haha, didn't I say earlier I always went in and out of hospitals for this?" I laugh, my smile never bigger.

"Heo… come on." Stella's voice hushed me.

"When you said you constantly went out…" Angel flick his scythe in his hand and it disappeared with the same flash it appeared in. "I guess that's because you eat up your magic way too quick?"

Doing the same with her weapon, Lynix then pointed at my hand. "I'd agree you eat through yours quickly, but you had that magic weapon pretty refined to not go overboard with. Either way, you need to learn to lower the amount on that too."

"hehe, I'll keep that in mind."

"Well I'd say you two wrap it up for the day." Baydí tossed the core of the skeleton up and down playfully. "You can head out with the recovery team."

"Alright, we will." Stella pulled my practically unmovable body towards hers. "You, idiot, need to go back to the hospital for a couple of days."

I couldn't pull away so my body was held by hers. I looked up into her face, her black horns crowning her sandy blonde hair, and her orange eyes stared back into my almost identical colors. Not too long of waiting and the recovery team showed up. Surprisingly it was the festive knight.

"If you two want, I sometimes do training camps for newbies here in Fayha, and you are welcomed to come anytime." Baydí said, helping Stella drag me towards the recovery team.

"Yeah you two should go, gonna need it. Or just use those extra magic points for some job related skills." Lynix added.

If my head didn't hurt so bad I'd think of something mean to say back or just imagine saying but I can barely comprehend if she really meant that as a joke or not. I guess I didn't just hit my limit but went past it because I really can't do anything this time. That's a new experience, throwing more than I even have at something.

When they met us the orange haired girl laid her hand on her sword. She hopped off and walked to the skeleton. Seeing her closer she had a white shirt on with a red star and eye stitched to the bottom in another fabric. Under the shirt was a tighter black shirt. She had on loose red pants with large black shorts over them that were cut strangely. Straps to her sword dangled around her waist. She also wore black shoes.

The festive knight looked at me, then at Baydí, and then laughed.

"Why are you laughing? It's not that funny." I said, my head ringing.

"Sorry sorry little fire dragon. I just thought how if I was Baydí I'd also drag a newbie along." The festive knight's attitude shined the special spark of Fayha. "Magic sickness though.. I don't think I've seen that bad in a newbie before."

"She's got something wrong with her input of magic. To be fair it's crazy strong for starting out." Baydí and Jace bounced off each other like the two mirrors.

"Holy Chaos on a summer's day. You practically took a kid in here." The reference to the only Chaos anyone would know about was out there but it still seems to make everyone, but me and Stella, giggle. "Let's get you out of here, huh?"

I saw a flash like the one Angel and Lynix had made in the distance where the orange hair girl walked off to. She returned without the monster and walked up to the festive knight.

"All done Jace. Let's go."

We walked a path that would lead out of the forest. Angle and Baydí waved bye and only Stella waved back. The path was very random, taking skeptical turns and leaving space between some plants on the ground.

"So are you two sisters?" The orange-haired girl asked.

I had gotten the vibe that she was more quiet but she seemed to be exactly like everyone we met in Fayha so far.

"No, cousins." Stella said smiling, her voice seeming to pop as she saw a glance of her own pirate jacket.

"Wow, you two seem very close. When did you start adventuring?"

"Today, yesterday we were helping a family friend." I said, my voice getting worse.

"Holy…" the festive knight stopped himself before saying the same words again. "What's your name?"

"I'm Stella Estellé and this is Heo Estellé."

"Cool, I said it at the start of this quest, but my name is Jace and this is Kilie."

"Yo." Kilie waved, her hand coming off her sword then returning to it.

She stopped walking and turned around. A dust cloud shot up around us. I could make out Kilie dashing towards a monster. The monster was a large grey top half of a humanoid body. Scales lined the entire body and formed three horns at the head, the side two horns twisting out.

The dust cleared, Kilie dodged to the left, looking like she reacted right as she saw the monster twitch. It had missed her. Kilie grabbed her sword, unsheathing a curved blade that shined white. I saw it flash small purple and gold colors before Kilie jumped up and landed on the monster's arm. The glow of her sword faded and I saw just a thin white line across the blade's surface. She then slashed the arm off. Falling with it she turned and cut the monster's head off.

The glow of the sword completely vanished and she wiped the blood off. It had felt as if my head stopped ringing as I was mesmerized by the strength. My face was hurting from magic sickness but I felt light headed at how hot it felt now.

"So.. so…. Cool."

I had practically forgotten about my horns which had already started to slip with my head slowed. They cracked and the two wisps were released. One flame hit Stella in the face. Unfazed by it, she flicked it back at me and it bounced off my head.

"Lock in a little, Heo."

Walking a little more another monster had come out. They were practically drawn to the two of them.

Apparently, it was Jace's turn. He walked up to the towering creature and I saw patterns I had seen decorate buildings in Fayha appear floating and dancing around him. They were the also the same tattooed on his arm, which moved now. Pumpkins, candy, stars, flowers swung around him and I saw him jump at the monster similar to the last. His punch landed square on the monster and did nothing. He dodged every swing, slash, and bite the monster threw at him. He just kept jabbing and throwing punches. They weren't light punches, they looked like a shockwave would follow but nothing ever happened. I saw him smirk to himself and wave his hand. His hand seemed to straight up glitch and blur, then the aura around him dropped. Everything I thought that landed finally did, and the monster imploded.

"Not a chance right?"

I was more excited than I was at Kilie's strikes. Then I realized something.

"Wait, aren't you supposed to capture these guys?"

Both of them paused, I could see sweat slide down both of their cheeks. "Ohhh uhh, no. Not these." Jace laughed and tried to continue our journey out.

"Yup, not these. Too weak for what show we wanna put on I mean watch, haha." Kilie face was flushed and she skipped over to Jace. I saw them look at each other and continue walking.

We made it into town and I had already recovered some magic, dulling the sickness a little.

"No pay I guess." I said, finally able to fully feel my body.

"Well yeah probably not. Rex might not be happy we wasted our first day like this."

"We could-" Stella shut me up.

"I guess I'll have to leave you guys here in town. Have fun adventuring. Maybe…" Jace seemed to think for a second. "You're not thinking of telling anyone about what me and Kilie did right?"

"Are we not supposed to?" I asked.

"Well technically that forest's high level monsters were cultivated for a whole year for this festival. So if the strongest just die…"

"We won't. It was cool to see some real pros though." I said reassuring him I wouldn't.

It can't be that bad of a crime, right? It probably wasn't.

"How about I help train you two one day? In return?" Jace added.

"That wouldn't-" I cut Stella off this time.

"We will definitely not tell a soul with that deal!"

"Ok then." Jace's face smiled at my enthusiasm. "Here's my number, oh and if you can't reach me just go to the castle and ask for pie pumpkin… They'll know." They walked back into the forest waving behind them.

"Well, wanna listen to Lynix?" I asked.

"Huh! And quit?"

"No, of course not. I gotta get strong enough to slap the crap out of her. I mean going to get a job related skill?"

"I guess, we already did decide what we'd get. You're still sure of enhancement magic?" Stella stressed her face.

"It's a good idea if this is what I'm dead set on doing for the rest of my life."

"Fine. I'm staying on taming, at least I'll have some jobs open just in case."

We walked towards the church smiling at our futures. We weren't holding hands walking but I felt my hand pulling her along. I could feel her dragging body slowly grab the ground start walking then running with me, following my dream.

On the run there I managed to fill back up my magic. I didn't have much to begin with so the conscious effort to fill it, without the magic sickness effect, was quick and easy. Mainly because I was used to doing it. Man it must be nice to not feel like you're dying with magic sickness. I envy humans only for that, and I guess they're wider access to magic types. At least my flames and gravity can't be outdone by them. It's a nice perk when you're so limited.

We walked to the church we were in yesterday, the street we walked down we walked up today. The church opened and we slipped in. Someone who saw us in the church yesterday absorbing the sphere reacted like he was gonna come up to us before second guessing it and turning away from the door. Let me guess. I glanced at him as we walked by. He was human and I saw his face scrunched like the room stank.

"Stereotypical, huh Stella."

"Yes, very unfortunate."

Stella reached up and held her horns, almost defensively, or ashamed. I smacked her hands off and pulled her by her pirate jacket sleeve. Her jacket in her vision seemed to make her smile softly.

"Right here."

We walked to a back room and saw a tall light blue sheet of glass. I clicked it and my Mila government profile with everything about me pulled up. The universal being skill flashed me and Stella. Being used to it at this point neither one of us flinched at it. I clicked on jobs and a wide branching list popped up. Swiping the screen a job skill option opened up.

"Cool, I'll just turn these new points into méjett. I can have enough to get some skill with that."

"Wait, Heo you have enough look." She pointed at the requirement and it wasn't greyed out.

"Probably a glitch, I know I don't have enough and I haven't used any magic points to increase capacity." I said despite my number not being greyed out. "Huh?" I clicked off and went to my status. "Wow, I gain more magic naturally."

"That's awesome, hurry to get the skills already. I kinda want mine more now."

I went back and gained two starting abilities for enhancements. My body shined purple and fizzled gold and white, then I saw pure magic flow into me and lay itself on my horns, like a coat. The color of pure magic was a light rainbow, different to méjett which was white, purple or gold. Magic normally was the color of whatever magic it was. The pure magic changed form and it traded places with my magic. A couple of skills I should be able to learn now that it's registered.

Stella did hers. The same process happened for her. She easily meets the requirements, being a mage.

"Let's go try out everything!" My head rang as I screamed.

Condensing magic points or just magic into méjett is kinda hard. Thankfully I didn't need to for the first time. As we walked out I reached under my shirt and pulled out my necklace with the church's symbol on it. The symbol of the church was the black crown. I made sure to flaunt it to the man as we passed. Childish.
