Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: The Unexpected Hero

Chapter 6: The Unexpected Hero

"Just put out the fire first!"

Outside the flames, the professional heroes had finally arrived. Seeing the raging fire ahead of them immediately gave them a headache.

"I'll go in and rescue people first."

After saying that, Kamui Woods didn't wait for the other heroes to respond. He rushed straight into the sea of flames and began searching for survivors.

At the same time, numerous reporters arrived after hearing the news. Together with curious civilians, they quickly surrounded the area.

"Can you explain the situation?" Death Arms asked a nearby police officer as he walked over.

"According to witnesses at the scene, one child was taken hostage, and another child rushed in to rescue him."

"That's ridiculous!" Death Arms sighed helplessly when he heard that the rescuer was just a child. "Who created all these flames? Was it the hostage, or—"

"Someone's coming out!"

The crowd suddenly interrupted the conversation.

Not far away, a black-haired boy in casual clothes slowly walked out of the flames. His face was completely calm, showing no sign of panic.

"Officer! That's the kid who was taken hostage!"

"The kid who rushed in earlier must've rescued him!"

"But… why did only one of them come out? What about the other kid?"

The crowd began murmuring among themselves.

Seeing Izuna emerge from the flames, Death Arms quickly walked over. He crouched down and asked with concern,

"Are you hurt?"

"No," Izuna shook his head calmly and pointed toward the flames behind him. "There's another person inside—the one who saved me."

"Don't worry. We'll definitely get him out," Death Arms said firmly. "Go somewhere safe first. I'll—"

"Look! The kid who saved him just came out too!"

Death Arms' words were interrupted again.

He slowly raised his head and looked toward the fire.

There stood Bakugo Katsuki, walking out of the flames almost completely unharmed.

Death Arms stared at him in disbelief.

"A kid… defeating a criminal that even professional heroes struggled with… and coming out without a scratch?"

A strange gleam appeared in Death Arms' eyes.

This kid clearly had tremendous potential.

If he could recruit him into his agency after graduation, it would definitely strengthen their team significantly.

After confirming that the criminal had been subdued, the reporters who had been waiting for a big headline immediately rushed forward, breaking through the police line.

A teenage boy defeating a criminal that professional heroes had difficulty dealing with—

That kind of story would definitely make the front page.

"Tch… don't get it wrong," Bakugo said irritably as several reporters shoved microphones toward him. "I wasn't the one who took down the criminal."

"You didn't?" The reporters looked at him suspiciously.

"Then who did?"

Bakugo didn't answer.

Instead, he glanced toward Izuna, who was standing near Death Arms.

The reporters immediately followed his gaze and noticed the black-haired boy.

"You mean the criminal was defeated by him?" a female reporter asked, looking back and forth between them. "But wasn't he the hostage?"

"Ask him yourself," Bakugo said with an annoyed click of his tongue.

He honestly had no idea what had happened.

The criminal had just suddenly collapsed.

For no clear reason.

"Kacchan!"

At that moment, a green-haired boy pushed his way through the crowd and rushed toward Bakugo.

"Kacchan, are you okay?" he asked worriedly.

After all, the sludge monster had originally targeted him. If he hadn't been chasing after All Might, the monster might not have escaped and caused trouble here.

"Deku, what are you doing here?" Bakugo snapped, glaring at Izuku Midoriya.

Then he glanced at Izuna, who was now surrounded by reporters.

"Tch."

"Student, what's your name?"

"What's your Quirk? Which school do you attend?"

"You're very talented. Have you considered applying to U.A. High School?"

"Excuse me—"

"Stop! Stop! Stop!"

Izuna felt completely overwhelmed as the reporters crowded around him. No matter how much he stepped back, he couldn't escape the circle.

Every time he retreated, the reporters took another step forward.

It was like an endless loop.

As for Death Arms—

He had long since disappeared into the mass of reporters.

"Enough!"

Izuna took a deep breath, secretly gathering chakra before shouting loudly,

"I wasn't the one who defeated the criminal! It was the blond guy!"

"Huh?" The female reporter from earlier blinked in confusion. "But he said it was you."

"As you all saw, his Quirk is far stronger than mine," Izuna replied calmly, completely making things up. "So the criminal could only have been defeated by him."

The reporters were momentarily stunned.

Normally, in situations like this, people would compete to claim the credit.

After all, these kids would soon be searching for hero internships. Showing off their achievements would naturally attract invitations from various agencies.

They had seen people refuse responsibility before.

But this was the first time they had ever seen someone refuse credit.
