Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: Tactical Breakdown

The wind seemed to stand still at this moment.

Two Level 10 elite warriors activated their [Charge] skill, crashing toward Ye Yi with unrivaled momentum.

In the eyes of ordinary players, this was a certain-death situation. A mage's fragile body—getting grazed just once meant a 1-second stun, followed by the mage's Fireball and the rogue's Backstab. Death was inevitable.

But what Ye Yi saw was an opening.

Although the two warriors coordinated well to form a pincer attack, they had pulled slightly too far apart in their pursuit of speed—leaving a gap of about two body widths.

To an ordinary person, this wouldn't be considered a gap.

But to Ye Yi, it was a highway.

Just as the two greatswords were about to strike, Ye Yi's footwork suddenly became uncanny.

He didn't use Blink; instead, he leaned his body back sharply like a fully drawn bow, then used his core strength to force a shift in his center of gravity.

"Slide Step!"

He slipped through the gap between the two warriors like a loach.

"What?!"

The warrior on the left only saw a blur as his weapon struck empty air, nearly hitting his teammate on the right.

"Forget the front! He's behind us! Mage, watch out!" Tie Bi reacted instantly, realizing Ye Yi's target was the backline, and roared.

But it was too late.

Having pierced the front-line defense, Ye Yi was like a wolf charging into a flock of sheep.

His target was crystal clear—not the mage chanting a Fireball, but the priest standing at the very back, thinking they were perfectly safe.

"Ice Spike!"

Ye Yi raised his hand, but he didn't attack the priest. Instead, he cast it at the feet of the mage who was about to turn and support.

Frost exploded.

Just as the mage turned, his feet slipped. The Fireball he was halfway through chanting was instantly interrupted, and he stumbled.

This stumble caused him to miss the optimal window for crowd control.

By then, Ye Yi had already rushed to within five meters of the priest.

The priest clearly hadn't expected the front line to collapse so quickly, but as an elite, his reactions weren't slow. He immediately cast [Power Word: Shield] on himself while preparing to retreat.

"Trying to run?"

A cold sneer curled at the corner of Ye Yi's mouth.

"Blink."

A flash of blue light.

The five-meter distance vanished instantly.

Ye Yi appeared directly behind the priest. The heaven-swallowing demon sword was practically pressed against the priest's neck; the icy touch made every hair on the priest's body stand on end.

"Die."

The demon sword slashed down.

With the attack speed bonus from [Basic Sword Mastery] and the inherent sharpness of the heaven-swallowing demon sword...

"Pfft!"

The Power Word: Shield shattered like paper.

"-280!" (Critical Hit + Backstab calculation)

The priest's health bar evaporated instantly.

"Healer!!" Tie Bi's eyes nearly burst from their sockets. He hadn't expected Ye Yi's damage to be so ridiculously high. One-shotting a full-health priest with a shield? Was this even possible at this stage?

"Rogue! Control him!" Tie Bi roared.

A slight ripple appeared in the air.

The rogue, who had been in stealth all along, finally made his move. He had been waiting for Ye Yi to use his Blink skill. Now that Ye Yi had no more displacement skills, it was the perfect time to hunt.

A poisoned dagger lunged from the shadows, aiming straight for Ye Yi's kidney.

This strike was a guaranteed sneak attack called [Kidney Shot], capable of causing 2 seconds of paralysis.

However, at the very moment the dagger was about to hit.

A blinding golden light suddenly descended from the sky, slamming hard onto the rogue's head.

Boom!

"-380!"

A damage number even more terrifying than Ye Yi's floated up.

The rogue screamed as his stealth was broken instantly. His health bar was reduced to a sliver, and he was slammed face-first into the ground by the impact of the Holy Light.

"Who?!" The rogue looked back in terror.

Not far away, the little girl who had been ignored and seemed weak and easy to bully, "Little Bing Xin," was now holding her staff, with wisps of smoke still rising from its tip.

Her eyes were focused and fanatical as she muttered, "Distance 15 meters, wind deviation correction 0.5, intelligence bonus 200%... Hit!"

"A Full-Intelligence Priest's 'Holy Light Strike'?" The thought flashed through the rogue's mind before everything went dark.

Ye Yi swung his sword back, easily finishing off the low-health rogue.

"Nice job."

Ye Yi didn't look back, but he knew Little Bing Xin would pull it off.

This was his absolute control over the battlefield. The reason he dared to Charge into the enemy ranks alone was because he knew he had a human self-propelled artillery piece behind him.

Only five seconds had passed since the start of the battle.

The Angel Guild's elite squad had one dead and one crippled.

The originally perfect "Warrior-Mage-Priest-Rogue" iron-clad formation instantly collapsed.

Only two warriors and a dazed mage remained on the field.

"How... how are we supposed to fight this?"

The mage looked at the fallen priest and rogue, his staff trembling. He needed 2 seconds to chant a spell, while these two freaks only needed one second to kill.Tie Bi's expression was incredibly grim.

The tactical coordination he took pride in was a complete joke in the face of the opponent's absolute violence and uncanny infiltration.

"Don't panic!"

Tie Bi was a veteran after all; he forced himself to calm down and raised his greatsword to shield the mage.

"He's out of skills! That priest is out of mana! We still have two people. He's a squishy mage—as long as we land one hit, we win!"

"Warriors, Charge with me! Mage, use instant-cast skills to kite him!"

It had to be said that Tie Bi's judgment was spot-on.

Ye Yi's [Blink] cooldown was 15 seconds, so it was indeed in its downtime. Little Bing Xin's nuke-like Holy Light Strike had also drained most of her mana.

The two heavy-armored warriors launched another Charge.

This time, they left no gaps, forming a pincer position to seal off all of Ye Yi's escape routes.

"Die!!"

The greatsword in Tie Bi's hand carried the flames of his fury as it hacked down toward Ye Yi's head.

This strike was unavoidable.

The hearts of the surrounding players leaped into their throats.

"It's over. He's out of skills; he's going to be killed by brute force."

"In the end, two hands are no match for four."

However, Ye Yi stood his ground. Facing the whistling greatsword, he actually dropped his defensive stance.

He looked up, a glint of red light flashing in his eyes behind his goggles.

It was the signal of the heaven-swallowing demon sword's thirst for blood.

"Who said... a mage can't tank a hit head-on?"
