It was break time. Students gathered informally on the stairs, leaning against the banisters as they munched on snacks, chatting and gossiping about everything happening in school. Some spent their time in the library, either studying or sorting out their assignments.
The majority of students sat in the canteen for lunch. Some were alone, busy on their cell phones, while others sat in groups, ordering food for themselves and their classmates. Everywhere felt lively and noisy, yet it was a moment of fun and relaxation for the students. They needed a break from subjects like Mathematics, especially. Break periods were their only chance to escape the hustle and bustle of studying.
On the stairs, three girls sat together casually. They shared pizza and soft drinks, laughing and talking about different things—until a familiar voice suddenly came from behind them."Please excuse me," Naledi said softly.
The girls rolled their eyes, shifting slightly to make way for her. She walked past them, straightening her royal blue uniform skirt and adjusting her tie before heading off. A few books were clutched tightly to her chest.
"Rubbish," Asanda hissed, and the rest of the girls burst into mocking laughter.
"Olungileyo… the 'righteous one,'" Zinhle commented sarcastically.
"She doesn't even care to have fun—or at least get a boyfriend," Lindiwe added with a sigh.
"Hey, that's going too far, Lindiwe," Asanda's voice cut in. "Do you even know her?"
Asanda shook her head in disbelief. "I haven't seen this girl talk to a guy before in my life."
She paused, then added with a smirk, "What's she even feeling like? Better than us?"
…everyone else in this school? I detest Naledi, I swear to God," Zinhle said.
"Maybe she grew up in a religious home—a strict one," Lindiwe suggested. "And to crown it all, she's a nerd. I think she might even win a scholarship this year because she studies so hard… like, she's always serious and—"
"Oh, shut up!" Asanda cut in sharply. "Are you now saying she'll come out as the winner of tomorrow's quiz or even graduate in first position? Are you looking down on the rest of us?"
There was a brief silence.
"No… it's not like that," Lindiwe replied quietly.
"Spare me," Asanda scoffed. "I'm going to class. Break is almost over."
She waved dismissively and walked off, the other girls following behind her.
Naledi, meanwhile, walked briskly toward the staffroom. She paused briefly, taking a quick breath before stepping inside.
Through the window, Naledi glanced inside and felt a wave of relief—no other teacher was around except Vuyo, the one she often daydreamed about.
Thoughts of him filled her mind constantly. Every time she saw him, a dangerous desire stirred within her—a longing she knew she shouldn't have. Before she graduated from high school, she wanted a taste of the kind of attention only his wife was meant to have… and she intended to keep it a secret.
Naledi had mastered the art of deception. In front of others, she appeared quiet, disciplined, and innocent. But behind closed doors, she played a far more daring game—one no one would ever suspect.
She licked her lips and smiled faintly as she pushed the door open. With quiet confidence, she walked toward Vuyo, who was absorbed in his phone.
"Vuyo… my dearest teacher," Naledi began softly.
Vuyo looked up—and immediately noticed something was off.
Her appearance said it all. The buttons of her long-sleeved white shirt were slightly undone.
Naledi paused briefly, adjusting her posture as if reminding herself of the role she was about to play. She was slightly chubby, with a naturally full figure that made her stand out.
Vuyo's eyes moved over her appearance almost instantly—taking in her short, neatly braided natural hair, the glasses resting lightly on her face, and the way her uniform sat on her body. Something about her look felt deliberate.
He became hard immediately.
"What are you doing here, Naledi?" he asked, his tone controlled, as though her presence meant nothing to him.
Naledi let out a small breath, her frustration slipping through.
"Vuyo… don't you ever notice the signals I've been giving you?" she said, her voice low but firm.
Her gaze lingered on him. There was something about him she couldn't ignore—his confident posture, the subtle scent of his cologne, and the steady tone of his voice, especially when he taught. It all drew her in, making it harder for her to keep her feelings in check.
"Naledi,"
"this is not the right time, okay? Teachers will start coming in soon—break is almost over."Vuyo said calmly.
Naledi stepped closer to him, her eyes soft, almost pleading.
"Okay… let's meet on Friday. I promise not to disappoint you," Vuyo added, trying to calm the situation.
She let out a quiet sigh. "Alright… till then."
Just as she began buttoning up her slightly opened uniform, the door suddenly opened.
Quickly, Naledi turned away and picked up a trash bucket, pretending she had been about to dispose of it.
Then she froze.
Standing at the door were her parents.
"Naledi, baby…" her father called, pulling her into a warm embrace as she rushed toward them.
"You didn't tell me you were coming," she said, surprised.
"Sorry about that," her mother replied with a gentle smile. "We have a brief meeting with the principal."
"Okay… fine. Bye. I was just trying to dispose of the waste when you came in," Naledi said, quickly thinking on her feet as she held onto the trash bucket.
"You're such a dutiful student," her father remarked proudly as they turned to leave.
Vuyo watched them go, then slowly shook his head in disbelief.
If only they knew the truth about their daughter… how boldly she had been trying to draw him in and how enchanting her body was to him.Few times he had noticed her in class. She was strikingly beautiful but still looked reserved...he almost made the first move but trepidation always crept in.If the school found out, he will definitely join his wife sitting in the house.
