Cherreads

Chapter 2 - The Stolen Chance

Cherry's eyes burst open like a sunrise, jolted by the shrill alarm clock. "Oh yay!" she screamed, bouncing out of bed with infectious excitement. "Have to start preparing," she exclaimed, her voice bubbling with anticipation. She stood in front of her wardrobe, a sea of colors and fabrics staring back at her. "Which dress should I wear today?" she mused, her fingers dancing across the hangers.

Thirty minutes later, she was radiant in a warm ocean-blue short dress, her hair cascading down her back like a waterfall. She grabbed her bag and set off, her feet barely touching the ground as she made her way to the playing park, where they had agreed to meet.

The moment she stepped into the park, a warm voice wrapped around her like a cozy blanket. "Hope you had a beautiful night." She lit up like a firework, her smile beaming. "Oh Lotus, you're over early." Lotus replied, his eyes twinkling, "Hmm... let's just get started."

Their day was a whirlwind of laughter and adventure – the playground, the rollercoaster, and a dozen other places. Time flew by, and soon it was time to say goodbye. They bid each other farewell, and walked different ways. But as Cherry walked back, a sudden warmth enveloped her, like a gentle hug from the sun. She froze, not knowing how to respond. Lotus's soothing voice whispered in her ear, "I've been trying to suppress how I feel about you, but the more I hide, the more I fall for you. I just want to make you happy and always be there for you whenever I can. Cherry, I wish to say a lot of things, but they'll just delay me." He took a deep breath, his voice trembling with emotion. "I love you, Cherry. Can you be my girlfriend?"

The atmosphere became tranquil, like the stillness of a lake on a summer day. Cherry smiled, her heart overflowing with joy, as she turned to face him. She gently hugged him back, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'll give you my answer tomorrow at school," she said, blushing like a rose, and ran off.

Lotus was left standing there, a smile plastered on his face, his eyes sparkling with happiness. "Finally told how I felt, aren't I the bravest in the world? Can't wait for school tomorrow," he said, his voice full of excitement.

Meanwhile, Cherry was thinking, her heart racing like a drum. "I wonder how I'm going to tell him I feel the same way," she said, her face flushed with happiness.

She got ready for school, despite it being too early, even before the alarm had rung. When she reached school, she found her friend Rose just arriving as well. "Rose, you are so early today," Cherry said, her voice bubbling with excitement.

"I didn't write my homework, so my mom forced me to come very early to school so that I do it here," Rose replied, rolling her eyes.

As they walked to their classroom, Cherry's heart skipped a beat. After an hour or so, the lesson commenced. "Is anyone absent today?" the teacher asked.

"Apart from Mr. Snow, everyone is here," one of the students replied. Cherry's heart skipped a beat at the mention of Lotus's name. "Well, not exactly, he's going to come but a little bit late. His father is going abroad, to start a new business, and there where he will be living, so Lotus has gone to see his father off," the teacher explained.

The lesson proceeded as normal, minutes and hours passing by. "Alright, as you come back from break, we'll continue where we left off," the teacher said, dismissing the class.

As Cherry and Rose prepared to leave the classroom, they froze in their steps. What lay ahead of them was Cherry's boyfriend, who had left without informing her. The moment he saw her, he ran up to her and gave her a hug. She just stood there, frozen, not knowing what to do. The guy she had loved, who had left without saying anything, was right in front of her, hugging her so tight. After a moment, she hugged him back.

And at that same moment, Lotus walked into the classroom, only to find the girl he loved so much hugging someone else .
