He burst out into a maniacal laugh that filled the room as he unconsciously used his sound magic. His hand combed through his hair followed by a wide grin on his face. Should he consider this a blessing or a curse? He was not sure but there was something he was confident about, with his status now, his revenge isn't far at hand.
**Ah, I might as well consider this a blessing.** Another laugh filled the room. He unconsciously released red mana that caused the room to tremble which alerted the guards standing guard outside of his room.
Panicking, they entered the room ready to attack with their hands already on the hilt of their swords. He had been asleep for a week now after the assassination and the royal physician already told them that his chance of waking up is very low. Seeing him awake, one of the servants outside ran to the royal clinic to inform the royal physician that the crown prince was awake.
Once the servants entered, all they could feel was the eerie atmosphere inside the room. He was grinning from ear to ear that it made them uncomfortable. They could only bow their heads in fear.
**Is there something wrong?** He asked through his magic but the servants remained silent, afraid of giving him the wrong answer. **Why are none of you answering me?** He continued to ask but it made the servants tremble even more. The prince's presence alone already gave them fear. **Have you all turned mute and deaf that none of you could answer me?**
The prince's red mana suddenly filled the room and started to suffocate the servants who were only there to check on him. One of them wanted to open the door but a red serpentine materialization of the prince's mana caught him and dragged him so hard that his body hit the stone floor with a loud thud. The servant lost consciousness with his head bleeding.
"Your highness! Please spare us! Don't kill us!" Several servants cried out when they saw what the prince's power did to their fellow servant. They even kneeled to the ground to ask for mercy.
The crown prince frowned and when he was about to drag them all, the door to his room opened. Drawn by the commotion from inside of the room, the mages stationed outside the palace entered the hall and quickly prepared themselves to cast a binding spell.
One of them forcefully opened the door with a blasting spell and from the outside, they started chanting the binding spell that started to shroud them in a golden light followed by the appearance of golden mana chains that rushed inside and bound the crown prince easily suppressing the raging mana inside of the room. After a minute, the mana slowly dissipated, making the room clear.
Crown Prince Lyonel Ingrave's face contorted in anger as his mana went haywire again despite the golden chains binding him but he did not attack. The soldiers who came with them took that chance to take away the trembling servants and guided them out of the room. They also carried away the bleeding and unconscious servant.
The royal physician also entered and cautiously approached the prince. As a physician who had worked in the field for years, he normally doesn't feel anything as he had faced and experienced the horrors of the battlefield but fear crept through his skin as he made his way to the prince's bed.
Calming down, Lyonel's red mana slowly dissipated but it still swirled inside the room. The physician's hand shook and it took him a lot of control to stop them from trembling, afraid of making a mistake that could set off the prince again.
The moment he got near the bed, he carefully scanned the now silent prince. "Your highness, pardon me but may I check your body's condition? You've been asleep for seven days and it is imperative that we check to know if there are other damages to your health caused by the assassination."
Nodding, he allowed the man to touch him. He also needed to know the state of the prince's body. Just as he thought, the prince's body became weaker because of the damage caused by the assassination.
The royal physician gently touched the prince's arm and felt for his pulse. He also used detection magic to scan the prince's body and found that everything was okay. His wound was also healing and the heart that got damaged from the attack was functioning well. He did not know what happened but this was good news. The crown prince of the empire is recovering well.
**What are you looking at?** Lyonel asked in annoyance voice because he sensed that the physician had been looking at him.
At this statement, the mages who stood there tensed. Lyonel could sense that they were ready to take action anytime and he could only grin. He enjoyed the fear they felt and the power he held against them. It was exhilarating. This action did not escape the physician's eyes.
"Nothing, your highness. Your health is recovering and even your wound is healing nicely. Even your heart that got damaged is now slowly recovering. I suggest that you rest for a couple more days and don't strain yourself too much, including the use of magic." The physician let go of his hands and stood up while reporting.
Lyonel nodded. **If there's nothing more, all of you can leave.** He raised his hand and gestured for them all to leave. **Do not disturb me unless I call for any of you.**
After they left the room, the physician couldn't help but look back at the closed door. It was indeed good news that the prince was already awake but he was worried that the prince's madness had gone to another level. What happened today was proof of it and he couldn't help but feel uneasy because of the different demeanor that the prince was displaying.
He returned to the clinic but felt unreconciled about the whole matter. He stood up and finally made up his mind. "The king must know this."
Just like the other rooms, the king's study was also extravagantly decorated despite its wooden interior, everything inside it has either the touch of gold and red. It was spacious with a sitting room for receiving guests, a conference room and his main study where he mostly sits and signs documents.
The physician was waiting and when he finally arrived, the physician stood up and gave the king a bow. King Vander Ingrave sat down and nodded to the physician. A few moments of silence already gave the physician sweaty palms as he could not talk unless the king would give him permission.
"Report." Finally, the king gestured for the physician to talk.
"The crown prince is awake and based on my findings, there is nothing wrong with him physically and he can make a full recovery after a few days of rest." The physician briefly reported before he became unsure if he should bring up the matter of the prince's state of mind.
