~Salvatore's POV
The door had barely settled into its frame after Livia left. I stood there for a moment without moving, and my gaze was fixed on the space she had occupied just seconds ago, and then my attention shifted back to Elsie. She had not said anything during the entire exchange, and when I looked at her now, she had already turned away with her back facing me, and her body curled slightly under the covers as if she had decided to remove herself from everything that had just happened.
Then, I finished dressing, and once I was done, I walked to the other side of the bed and slipped in beside her.
She did not turn, and I did not ask her to. I adjusted slightly, then turned my back as well, choosing her position without thinking too much about it. And without another word, I slept off.
I woke up later than I expected. I exhaled slowly, opening my eyes to darkness, opening them to the faint glow of the room. For a second, I simply lay there, letting my mind catch up.
