The eyelids of Tora, Arrow, Rare, and Scyte opened simultaneously.
The very first thing that greeted their senses was the air.
The air filling their lungs felt incredibly unfamiliar so clean, pure, and cool.
There was no longer the scent of rust, neon distortion, or blood flooding the asphalt.
The four of them slowly rose to their feet, confusion covering their faces.
Tora looked down and slammed his fist into the ground beneath him.
Yet the earth beneath his feet remained completely untouched by his strength.
Earth.
This was Earth.
The land was the same, only the hardness of the soil felt different. There was nothing strange about its structure.
And yet, this place felt impossibly vast, as though it had no boundaries.
There were no skyscrapers.
No asphalt roads.
No cities.
The world they had just destroyed had returned whole once more, but in its original form an endless expanse of primal wilderness, green, untamed, and utterly empty of technological civilization.
The order of the world had been reset to zero.
They looked upward. The sky above them was not blue.
It was pitch black like eternal night, yet without a single shining star.
And far beyond the horizon, that darkness slowly faded into an endless white emptiness.
A blank canvas imprisoning Earth as the sole existence within the universe.
Yet strangely, daylight still illuminated the world.
Suddenly, the sound of dragging footsteps broke the silence of that primordial land.
Scyte slowly rose.
He staggered to his feet, nearly collapsing again while carrying the corpse of his girl in his arms.
His scythe dragged lifelessly behind him, carving a long line across the untouched ground.
The face of the young man who was usually adorned with a mischievous grin had completely fallen apart.
Dark shadows surrounded his eyes, while his swollen, reddened pupils revealed the endless despair he had cried through.
He stared ahead with hollow eyes.
Without turning back, without saying a single word to his companions, Scyte limped away from them.
He wandered aimlessly into the vast expanse of the world.
He did not care about this new world. To him, the world had already ended the moment that girl breathed her last breath in his arms.
Arrow, Tora, and Rare could only stand frozen as they watched Scyte's back slowly disappear into the distance.
Rare lowered his head, gripping Excalibur tightly with sorrowful eyes.
Arrow closed his eyes in silence, while Tora let out a long, heavy sigh.
The three of them understood. Even the absolute power and authority their Master had granted them would never be enough to heal Scyte's shattered heart.
There was nothing any of them could do for him anymore.
Tora shifted his gaze across the surroundings, staring at the peaceful yet terrifying primordial landscape.
"A new world, huh..." he muttered quietly.
With a silent understanding, without needing any discussion, they realized that their journey together had perhaps reached its end here. The three of them exchanged slow nods.
Tora turned around and walked toward the north.
Arrow gripped his bow and shot toward the east.
Rare carried his sword upon her shoulder and slowly walked south.
Beneath the black sky fading into white emptiness, The Four Pions finally parted ways.
Each of them would now wander alone through this silent new world, walking among the remnants of the will of the Nameless Devil who had become the center of all existence.
THE END
