Chapter 7 - Getting Established

Happy Easter to you all! Shorter chapter today because of the holiday, but there is another on course for tomorrow.

I also want to add an Authors Note that I probably should have earlier on. For those who couldn't tell, this is a bit of a crack fic. There will be serious moments, but overall this is a fun story of us seeing our MC live out his life in the Marvel Universe.

A lot of shit won't make sense, won't be applicable to the real world, and I will be able to get away with since it is Marvel and it is fiction.

It will be slow and mundane at times, simply because I don't only want to focus on the whole 'superheroing' aspect of the story and also focus on the dude starting his new life, earning money, making friends, starting relationships.

I know I can't make everyone happy with this story, and already on the two other websites I've uploaded on I've been getting nitpicked on the smallest of details that matter little to the story at large.

With that said critiscim is always good if it isn't coming off as hate. I'd enjoy recommendations for future plotlines, villains and suggestions to incorporate at a later date. I may or may not take them into account, but it is always good to have options, and while I try not to let it bother me some times it gets kinda annoying and demotivating when someone locks onto the smallest detail rather then ignoring it and simply enjoying the rest of the chapter.

As for the pictures, I'll try to add them when I could, though if you do want them they are likely to be on the WEBNovel version since I find that is the easiest sight to add pictures on, as well as those in the community to add some of their own.

December 28th, 2010.

Thank whatever higher being sent me here for advanced technology.

After arriving back to the spaceship last night, I had worked tirelessly throughout the remainder of the night and into the early morning, forging my new identity.

Luckily for me, this ship was equipped with the most advanced 3D printer I had ever seen in my life.

The thing created a perfect passport, one that I honestly couldn't tell was fake, one I was positive would pass any scan it was put through.

I felt kind of stupid that I flew all the way to the city to find a computer when I had literally hooked up to the internet not ten minutes after I came back.

Then again, I wasn't used to advanced tech.

Hacking into the government database was easier said than done. I was never the best at hacking, seeing as I never had a reason to learn.

Once I started, though, it was pretty easy to get the gist of it. Whatever A.I. ran this ship was also able to help.

I learned that the A.I. in question was actually a robot created by my father to aid him in his lab.

I had named the robot Gideon, after the A.I. from the Legends of Tomorrow and Flash CW shows.

Oh, how those shows went to shit.

I had also made significant improvements to his programming that boosted his intelligence, made her more humanoid, and allowed her to connect to the world wide web.

Though I ensured he would never turn into a second Ultron by programming a deadman's switch the second I caught wind of anything malicious.

Birth certificates were forged after that, along with false school records stating I was homeschooled until my parents passed away in an accident a year prior, leaving me homeless due to no next of kin stepping forward.

It would be much easier to apply for scholarships to a proper high school with these records instead of simply testing in.

I spent the rest of the night doing just that, limiting my options to schools in the city because I planned on living there when all was said and done.

Despite New York City being a hub for villainy and hero activity, I had grown up there in my past life, and it was hard to imagine living anywhere else.

That night, several schools across all five boroughs received an application from one Edward Tobias Blackwood, complete with test scores higher than most and a stellar academic record.

When emailing his previous teachers, Gideon replied in the guise of a former educator, providing recommendations that had many Headmasters and Principals salivating at the chance for this boy to transfer to their school.

I was too busy going through Dr. Stasis' laptop at that point to notice the several return emails I got that afternoon, searching for any vital information on just who had held me captive for sixteen grueling years.

As I expected, the man was thorough in hiding anything incriminating, even on a private laptop buried under four hundred tons of steel in the middle of the Utah desert.

However, I did find a curious mention that brought up a memory in my head, one Weapon X Program, and an email from William Stryker.

That wasn't ideal, but hopefully he thought the project was a bust and wouldn't look into it any further.

Ah, who am I kidding? I wasn't going to get that lucky.

What was interesting was the number of safehouses the Doctor had. One stood out—an abandoned building in Queens that the Doctor owned.

Pulling up the blueprints, it was a two-story red brick with a loft on the second floor and a garage below.

Not a terrible place to set up shop, especially since I didn't need to worry about rent. Still, it was a bit of a fixer-upper.

"Master Edward, you've received several emails back from the schools you told me to send your applications to," Gideon informed me.

Moving over to the big screen, I searched through several of the emails, many of which were acceptance letters offering a full ride for the first year, and coverage for the remaining three if I performed at the same level.

One school in particular caught my attention.

Midtown School of Science and Technology.

It was relatively close to the safehouse, a ten-minute walk, to be exact, and it was also the school attended by none other than Peter Parker himself.

Now, any sane person in this situation would put a hundred miles between themselves and that kind of trouble magnet.

But I wasn't entirely sane.

There was also the fact that it was a pretty prestigious school that would look good on my record when applying to colleges.

Despite having life-changing superpowers, I still cared about my future and wanted to continue the goal from my past life of going to college and either landing a well-paying job or starting my own business.

Seeing as it was the winter holidays, I wouldn't start until the students returned from break, which gave me some more time to get on my feet.

I replied with my gratitude and acceptance, informing them that I would look into the courses they offered and submit my schedule by the weekend.

It was a good thing too, because I had no wish to be stuck in normal, everyday classes when I had been studying at a college level this year.

I didn't even want to imagine how boring it would be now that my Viltrumite brain was in play.

When all was said and done, I packed up what was necessary from the ship and, unfortunately, had to leave Gideon behind for the moment until I cleaned up the place, before making my way toward the new safehouse.
