Chapter 5 - "POWER PLAY" AND SHOPPING

Commentator:

"Welcome everyone to the Power Play here in London! Today, we'll see the strongest teams in England compete.

The rules are simple; the tournament consists of 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 matches, in which only half the pitch will be used to reduce the playing space. To win the match, you must score either 3 or 5 goals.

Like all other Power Plays, there will be beautiful background music."

"This event structure was created to help develop young U14 talents and help them concentrate, even during the music.

Personally, I love this event because we'll see some beautiful dribbling."

"With kick-off, the 3-on-3 Liverpool-Chelsea match is about to begin.

It's sure to be an exciting match."

As soon as Mike stepped onto the pitch for his first 3v3 match of the event, he immediately showed off his newly acquired dribbling skills.

With a beautiful Marseille Roulette that almost made Zidane jealous, he beat the last of the three opponents and headed towards the goal.

Throughout the match, he taunted the three Liverpool U14 players and, working with Charlie, easily won.

After the first match against Liverpool, he played against all the remaining teams and won almost every game, losing only one.

In the final 3v3 match, the coach paired him with Charlie Holland and Josh Acheampong.

James Simmonds: "Mike, Josh, and Charlie will be playing in this 3v3 match against Fulham."

After picking up the three players, I began to speak to them privately.

"You are the three pillars of our team; I want to see you shine in this match. Consider it a test before the international tournaments."

"All right, mister," they replied in chorus.

Obviously, the match was one-sided, and Chelsea won 0-0 against Fulham.

Mike immediately went home after the competition to eat and rest.

A few days later, the announcement arrived that Chelsea's U14 team had been called up to the international tournament held in Madrid, Spain.

The Madrid Football Cup has always been considered the best tournament for U14 youth teams, and 32 elite teams from around the world participate.

The clubs participating were: Real Madrid, Rayo Alcobendas, Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, Rayo Vallecano, Getafe, Leganes, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City, Charlton Athletic, Porto, Benfica, Sporting, Juventus, Milan, Inter, Roma, Napoli, PSG, Lyon, Bayer Monaco, Ajax, SK Brann, Hammarby IF, Spartak Trnava, Dinamo Tbilisi, Maccabi Haifa, PSV, and Dortmund.

The tournament consists of three phases: the first is the group stage, consisting of eight groups of four teams.

The second phase is the knockout stage, which features the top two teams from each of the eight groups.

And finally, there's the final, where the winner of the Madrid U14 Football Cup is decided.

Mike guardò subito contro che squadre avrebbe dovuto giocare, il suo girone era composto da Chelsea, Benfica, Napoli e Rayo Alcobendas.

The tournament was three weeks away.

Mike, overjoyed, immediately went downstairs to inform his parents.

"Mom, look what's here! In three weeks, I'm going to a tournament in Madrid."

His parents were just as happy, even though they couldn't go to Madrid to watch him play.

Three days later, Mike and Charlie headed to The Bowl at Selfridges, where they met up with Gim.

"Hi, Gim, meet Charlie. He's a teammate of mine and a future star."

Charlie, embarrassed by Mike's compliments, greeted Gim, and then they headed inside The Bowl together for some shopping.

The Bowl was a skate park inside the supermarket, surrounded by luxury streetwear stores like Supreme and Off-White.

Mike: "Come on, Charlie, we need to stock up on clothes so we can all be fashionable in Madrid. Haha."

Mike bought a Nike Tech Fleece tracksuit and after going to the back of the VIP store I bought a Nike x Off-White training kit and a pair of Nike Mercurial Vapor football boots personalized with his two initials M W (Mike Wager).

Afterwards, he went to Moncler to buy a more elegant yet still sporty outfit, the Moncler Enfant collection.

After shopping, each of the three friends returned home.

Once home, Mike put on comfortable clothes to work out and complete his daily goal.

For a couple of days now, the required push-ups had doubled and the running distance had increased.

Mike decided to first do 5 minutes of planks and 50 push-ups, then he ran the required 7 km, and finally finished with the remaining 50 push-ups and 5 minutes of planks.

"Mike, go take a shower right now, you stink," his mother said as soon as Mike entered the house.

Heeding his mother's advice, he immediately went to wash up and change his clothes, then went down to the dining room for dinner.

After eating, he followed his father to his study to ask him some questions.

"Dad, can I ask you a favor? I'd like you to call someone to build a gym with the best, most cutting-edge training equipment in the empty basement room."

After all, Mike's house was a small two-story villa with a very large basement consisting of four rooms, three of which were already occupied, an indoor swimming pool, a movie room and a billiards room, while one room had remained empty since the purchase of the house.

"And also, Dad, I've decided to take my soccer career seriously; it's no longer a game like it used to be. In addition to the home gym, I'd also like you to hire some experts to support me, a nutritionist and a physical therapist. After all, I always want to be in top form," Mike continued.

"Okay, son, but we'll talk about it after you return from the tournament in Madrid. You know I support every decision you make. Now go to sleep."

"Okay, Dad, good night."

Mike returned to the bedroom.

*As soon as I have the necessary points, I absolutely must acquire the speed stat. If I want to compete with the great players in the tournament in Madrid, I must be absolutely prepared.*

After that, he allowed himself a well-deserved rest.
