The night the promise was made, the sky burned without fire.
A strange crimson glow stretched across the horizon, painting the clouds like spilled blood. The villagers of Eldermere whispered in fear, locking their doors early, refusing to speak of omens that felt too real to ignore. But in the heart of the forest, where shadows breathed and silence had a pulse, a girl stood waiting.
Her name was Elara.She clutched a silver pendant against her chest , its surface cold despite the warmth of her skin. It was the only thing her mother had left behind before vanishing into the woods years ago . Tonight,the pendent felt different alive ,almost as if it were calling her deeper into the darkness

The voice did not belong to the wind , no to any creature Elara had over known.it was smooth , echoing , ancient . The cursed promise ,,,

But in the heart of the forest ,where shadows breathed and silence had a pulse , a girl stood waiting .
Her name was Elara .
She turned sharply.
A figure stood between the twisted trees , half hidden in shadow . tall , unmoving , cloaked in darkness that seemed to swallow the faint red light around them . His eyes , however , gleamed sharp and pale , like shards of moon light .
You shoudnot be here , Elara said , though her voice trembled .
'And yet , you called me .'
''I did not ''
The pendent burned . Elara gasped , dropping to her kness as pain shot through her hand . the silver glowed faintly , a symbol forming across its surface one she had never seen before , yet somehow understood .
A mark . A binding .
The figure stepped closer .
''You carry her blood '', he said quietly .'' That means the promise is yours now'' .
Elara shook her head .'' I do not know what your talking about'' .
Lies do not suit you , he replied .'' not when your soul remembers what your mind refuses'' .
A cold wind circled them , lifting strands of her dark hair . The forest seemed to lean in ,listening . Years ago , he continued , your mother stood where you stand now . she made a promise to me a vow sealed in blood and shadow."
Elaras breath caught . ''my mother is gone ''.
She is not gone , the figure said .'' she is taken. because she broke her word'' .
The ground beneath Elara seemed to tilt .
No she would not .
She did .
Silence fell , heavy and suffocating .
Elara looked up at him , anger flasing through her fear .'' who are you'' ?
For a moment , he said nothing . then he reached up and pulled back the hood of his cloak .
His face was not monstrous , not in the way she expected . it was sharp , almost beautiful , but too perfect like something carved rather than born . his skin was pale as bone , his lips faintly tinted like fading roses . but his eyes …his eyes held centuries of darkness .
''I am kael ,'' he said .''bound to the curse your mother tried to escape'' .
The word curse echoed in her mind .
Elara slowly stood .'' then release her ''.
A faint smile touched his lips , but it carried no warmth .'' it does not work that way'' .Then tell me how it works'' .
Kael studied her , as if weighing something unseen .
The promise was simple , he said at last .''a life for a life . power in exchange for loyalty . your mother asker for something she could not obtain on her own ….and I granted it'' .
What did she ask for ?
Kael s gaze flickered to the pendant. To save you .
Elara froze
The forest seemed to go still ,as if the world itself held its breath .
You were dying , Kael continued . a sickness no healer could cure . she came to me , desperate , willing to give anything .
And you saved me ? Elara whispered .
'I did'' . Then why take her ?
