Chapter 2 - Welcome (2)

A faint thought.

(What made my story fall? Was it my bad writing skills? Or was it a bad story idea? Anything could be the reason but…one thing that I'm sure of is that I won't give up, not again, not at anything. I won't lie to anyone now. Not after I lost…him.)

A thought got fainter and fainter. Until John opened his eyes. His whole vision was dark and blurry. The only thing he could understand was that he was in a room. His back rested against a wall. He rubbed his eyes with his hands and took a deep breath.

(What happened to my eyes?? My…body feels significantly heavy. But…why?)

He tried to take support from something standing in a distance, a small round table, and got up. His vision finally started to normalize.

He saw a room not too big, similar to his, without any furniture except a table. A window was just on the wall where John rested his back a while ago. The room was made of yellow wooden planks, they precisely looked like oak wood to John. A window with a bird tapping on it with its beak.

John turned to check the other half but stopped midway as he saw a humanly figure smaller than him was lying down on the floor just next to John, it rested its back on the table. He rubbed his eyes again to see completely what was lying there. Not too long after that he gasped to see his neighbour and childhood friend Sydney unconscious.

He sat on the ground and slightly pushed Sydney to wake her up. But the force was too much for her small body, making her head hit the floor instantly waking her up in panic. As she got up, her head hit the part beneath the table.

While Sydney was in pain, John asked her.

"Are you okay?"

Sydney with her wet eyes, screamed at John.

"Do I look like I am okay!?"

The bird flew away after it heard a smack that came from the house. John held his cheek in pain and replied.

"Why would you hit me!? That wasn't even my fault!"

Sydney got up and walked towards the window. While walking, she asked.

"This isn't your room, right?"

"I asked you something first!!!"

After reaching the window, her eyes grew wide as she realized that this wasn't even their city, let alone John's room.

She called up for John.

"Come here…"

John walked up to her, as he walked the floor creaked a lot though his steps were lighter.

And as he reached the window, his mind almost went blank. This wasn't their world, let alone the city.

The look outside was pretty crowded. It was like a road with numerous shops on either side. But the fact that made Sydney almost scream was that there were not only humans who were wandering here and there, but animals, elves and different creatures too.

With a long breath, John wiped his forehead and turned towards Sydney. He tried breaking the silence by speaking.

"Um..-"

But he got interrupted.

"Where the heck are we!? What is this place?? What are those…things?!"

John grabbed her shoulder with a firm grip and after a silence, he replied.

*sigh*

"Like hell I know where we are! I don't even remember how we got here!"

To which Sydney replied.

"The only thing I remember is that we were cutting your birthday cake and the next moment I hit my head on the floor and the table!"

John went silent as he heard something. Two voices discussing something. Something familiar. Something only he knew. From the room next to them. A familiar yet faint voice came.

"Today is the day…today he will be entitled as 'The Seventh Commander' of the Rimora."

Another voice which was not distant from the other, replied.

"Yeah…but look at him. Still sleeping, not even ready for the ceremony."

"I know, we just need to reach the 'X-Cape' university quickly. If we reach there late, we are doomed. Hey Daniel! Get up!"

Hearing that name made several thoughts rush his mind. But he only prioritised one.

(Daniel? As in Daniel Wesker? Rimora!?)

Sydney, who was also hearing this stuff asked in a faint voice with her tousled head tilted to the right.

"What are they talking about?? What is Rimora??"

John took a long breath. His thoughts aligned. He sighed again before finally replying.

"This is Rimora, the place we are at right now."
