Devon stared into the distance,
The real beasts had finally arrived;
hundreds—perhaps thousands—of Oedipals loomed..
Unlike the Yellow he fought, these were even larger, stronger, their red scales glinting with regal menace.
Their wings itself the size of an entire field.
At the top of their head a human torso fused with their head like a parasite.
At their forefront, a purple Oedipal towered, nearly three stories tall, hiding behind the rest like a cold hearted general in the midst of war, casting a shadow over the house-sized reds
While hiding its presence as well.
But Devon could see through this pathetic display of camouflage.
He appeared infront of the red beasts, almost in an instant ,
Let's get this over with"
He had been so quick that they didn't realize he was there till he spoke
The launched at him,
He moved extremely fast, his after image the only thing that could be seen,
One of. Them launched forward trying to launch a bite, in the midst of the chaos,
Only to get his snout grabbed by devon, then an explosion rang out, brain matter splattered across the cities streets.
The remaining beasts who had been cautious from the start of the battle, stepped backward preparing a large beam from thier mouth
They fired but missed completely, it wasn't Devon they saw, it was his after images, bodies were still dropping with each seconds,
A few of them tried running away only for their head to fall off as they took a step
Then others as well,
They had been decapitated since, after seeing the after image. Their body hadn't even processed it yet.
The purple oedipal stared into the after math that filled the city
Humanity had been struggling with handling the blue oedipals and yet this beast was decapitating their stronger counterparts like he was stomping on ants,
"I already lost haven't I " the human torso that combined with the towering beast spoke
Before turning his back to flee,
"Leaving so soon Caruso, you didn't even say goodbye"
The beast turned to see Devon floating in the air, his hands buried in his coat, his unsheathed sword still at his back.
He appeared before the purple Oedipal, its cloak fading to reveal its massive, horned frame.
Time slowed, and space seemed to bend under his presence.
"Your Eminence, it's been a long time, has it not?"
said the human torso atop the monster's head, its grey eyes lifeless, it had no visible pupil, its body pale.
Devon stared silently, his gaze cold and commanding.
Not whispering a single word to the abomination in front of him,
"How many years ago has it been? Fragments of my memory be lost to time"
the monster said, voice trembling with ecstasy.
"Devon Veyron, the bastard son of hope, the man who defiled the heavens,
The name you despised the most….
Ahh yes they called you "The end".
Devon's eyes drifted,
He smiled faintly, then faced the monster. "Hey Caruso, let's get this over with."
"Do what you have to do," it said, still laughing. "I know I'm no match for you,I will be watching you in hell, let's see how far you go".
In a heartbeat, Devon stepped closer, lifting his second glove.
He whispered silently
"Tenebrin,"
A piercing shriek shook the city, cracking pavement like glass.
By the time it was over Caruso's corpse lay still, a friend or perhaps a foe it was uncertain.
A purple orb which he had gotten from the death of Caruso floated in his hands
He then swallowed it , his veins immediately grew a shade of purple before turning to its normal color,
The sky darkened, clouds splitting as thunder roared,
Lightning struck from above with frightening intensity
Devon casually flickered it away effortlessly,
"Arriving this fast, does my existence trigger you this much, Fariel"
He looked over towards a building hundreds of meters ahead of him,
He had seen what he was looking for,
With not a single word he vanished.
