Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

3rd Pov:

4 Days Later:

[Y/N] has adjusted to his new body, treating it as he was born in it. He has been on a constant move in, occasionally taking on hunts but most would end in failure due to his inexperience, but with each failure is a lesson.

He would stay far from society as much as possible as at the stage he's in, he would easily get captured and sold on some black market.

He only stayed in one spot to rest and allow his food to digest before moving on, exploring more of the country he had yet to visit.

Currently his body is lowered, trying to stay hidden, not from predators but the prey he's currently stalking.

In front of him past a few blades of grass, masking his form, are a group of about 15 springhares. A rabbit sized rodent that lives in burrows underground. There are two genus of this species, the southern African springhare and the Eastern African springhare.

Currently these springhare's are grazing not far from their burrows, if [Y/N] does it right, he'll be able to have enough food to last him a couple days with just one kill.

[Y/N] adjusts his posture ever so slightly, as to not alert the group of his presence. His eyes scan the group, looking for a worthy target until he spot a lone male grazing further away from the group.

Target acquired.

[Y/N] ready's himself to pounce, his muscles tense before some of the springhares raised their bodies as they sniffed the air, an unfamiliar scent has reached their noses. [Y/N] has mistakenly put himself where the wind blows his scent towards them

They didn't have to time to figure out what it was as [Y/N] bursts out of the bushes, charging at his chosen target.

The springhares instinctively run to their burrows, escaping what kind of predator would attack them. [Y/N] ran at full speed, his earlier burst gave him distance towards his target the springhare attempt to get to the burrows.

[Y/N] managed to get next to it before ramming his body into the rodents side as they both tumbled around before [Y/N] got up first and thrust his jaws down of the springhares neck.

The rodent struggled as it kicked its legs in the air but that did nothing for it as it let out screech's for help. [Y/N] eye went towards the few at the burrows entrance, anxiously hoping forward and back, silently debating on whether to help or not, but [Y/N] ferocious glare kept them away.

[Y/N] kept his grip strong before he sharply twist the rodents neck as an audible crack resounded in everyone's ears.

The springhares body went limp as [Y/N] slowly released his grip before gouging down on his meal like a savage beast, ripping chunks of meat off before devouring some of the organs.

[Y/N] would occasionally snap his head around and sniff the air for any predators that picked on the fresh scent of blood but so far nothing.

Licking some of the blood on his lips, he returns to feasting of his kill. Tearing pieces of meat from the organs, eating them in small bites before the rustling of leaves caught his attention not too far behind him.

Ferociously, he growl before lifting his head slightly at tips of his coverage to see whatever is there but this animal or animals is something he'll need it back away from.

A pack of wild dogs, numbering around 7, slightly bigger than [Y/N] and outnumbered. Not taking any risks to confront the pack he yanks a piece of the dead springhares liver and run in the opposite direction.

The pack comes closer as they bark at [Y/N]'s retreating figure before going over to the springhare corpse and eating what it could before other scavengers come such as vultures.

[Y/N] ran through the tall grass before coming to nice area with a rock formation, healthy trees and a small pod.

He jogs over to it, occasionally looking around for any predators laying in wait, he has to be careful with anything around the wild as a predator could jump out of anywhere and he wouldn't notice it.

Jumping from rock to rock he makes sure it up and, like a curious child, examined his surroundings with awe.

He devour his snack before walking next to a tree, the shade of the tree coating his body before drinking from the pond as the fresh blood around his mouth flow in the waters surface.

Having his fill he lays down in the shade as he allows his body to rest and digest the food he acquired.

The afternoon sun coats the land in a beautiful colour while still being visible. The land beyond is open with few trees littering the land as herbivores graze across is grounds almost all of which are impossible for [Y/N] to take down right now but in the future, he'll have a better time.

Africa has a vast variety of lands with different hot environments but as [Y/N] grows in size, his ambushes will be more difficult to point he may starve to death.

So for now, he'll hunt small animals and insects as well as scavenger for food until he can manage a territory for his own use.

'I wonder if there's others like me out there' [Y/N] thought in bitter hope.

Shifting his head up, he gazes at the groups of animals below, mainly the ones with a child. He'll be tested against the elements, each one would be an attempt on his life.

Learn what he can.

Adapt before he is taken out.

Avoid humans as much as possible before being fully grown.

[Y/N]'s eyes saw movement at corner of his vision, his head snapped over to as his body tensed up in alert. Slithering through some plants was a snake, its scaly body slithered towards the water while cautiously eyeing [Y/N], wondering what he is.

[Y/N] tilted his head side to side at the small snake before he got up and wandered over to it. The snake sent a warning hiss at [Y/N] but he didn't stop moving forward.

The snake snapped at his wondering nose but [Y/N] jump back, avoiding the bite. [Y/N] sniffed the air around it before thrusting his head down at high speed and clamping his jaws around the snakes head as the rest of its body struggled before [Y/N] slammed it against the ground.

The snake stopped moving as [Y/N] feasted on his snack. Unbeknownst to him, not far away in a vehicle carrying tourists on it but they have no view of [Y/N] but their eyes are darting in any possible hiding spot for any sign of an animal they can take a picture of.

[Y/N] finish's his snack quite quickly before he shakes his body a little before returning to his spot under the tree but a slight glare of light hits his eyes forcing him to close them as he reflectively darts back while letting out small cry.

Once his eye has recovered from the unknown glare, he cautiously moves to edge of his area to view what it is secretly.

There, in the distance is a long truck carrying quite a lot of humans as they point and take pictures of the wildlife in the clothes more sooted for this environment.

[Y/N] doesn't stay long as he retreats back and goes to furthest spot on this area, without them seeing him. He finds a wide split between two rocks, perfect for hiding away from the sun at a specific time.

[Y/N] laid down on the hard yet hot ground, he curled his body to make himself more comfortable. For now this will be his home until he finds a better place to find.

His eyes closed after a moment of hesitation, listening and smelling for any sign of any dangers nearby. Every action must be thought out, his place in this land must be tested.

The Next Day:

[Y/N] was up bright and early, before he headed out he had a couple drinks from the pond. He moves through the open plain with a casual stride but would occasionally glance around as it would be hard for any predators to set up a successfully ambushes but the odds are not zero.

He mentally notes down the local animals in this region. Zebras, stripped horses that travel in herds, too difficult to take down at his current size but when [Y/N] grows up, these will mostly be his main food source.

Grant Gazelles join them not too far in their own herd as well as Hartebeest, like a mega herd filled with different species but they are together, they are just tolerating each other's presences.

Warthogs with their young travelling across the land, grazing around for roots to feed on or any insects they could find by using their tusks.

Aardvark's searching around for any ant nests in the ground with some continuing on by finding a possible termite mound.

On the larger size where [Y/N] would probably not hunt unless he was desperate or it's one of their young or elderly, Elephants and giraffes.

They are aggressive creatures when provoked as they'll easily handle [Y/N] when he is fully grown. [Y/N] continues to eye each of his possible food options before his eyes dart around on animals he could hunt at his current size.

[Y/N] curious mind makes him go further, to understand, to test his limits. His first target was the Aardvark's, he tilts his head side to side like a curious bird, assessing the prey's possible weaknesses but the main threat he has to watch out for is their sharp claws, designed to destroy the walls of ant and termite nests.

[Y/N] feels the air's direction, remembering yesterday's mistake and immediately correcting it by reading the environment as it'll give him the advantages he needs if he correctly uses it.

The Aardvark's have yet to notice [Y/N] as they are too busy looking for food as well as the wind's direction blowing [Y/N] scent in the opposite direction, masking his presence from them.

[Y/N] slowly stalked up to the insect eater he has chosen but the Aardvark raised its head up to check its surroundings out of curiosity before its eyes land on [Y/N].

Seeing him, the Aardvark stood up on two legs and spread its arms wide, ready to swipe when [Y/N] gets into range.

It swiped in front of it, giving [Y/N] a warning. [Y/N] had to look up slightly at the animal, slightly intimidated but he didn't back down.

[Y/N] roared at the Aardvark as he snapped his jaws at it to try and poke its defences. [Y/N] lightly stepped around it, curious for any way to kill it.

[Y/N] roared as he charged forward but as soon as the Aardvark swiped at him he stopped at the last moment as its attack left it open and [Y/N] took it.

He lunged forward, using his body to topple both of them over as he bite down on the back of its neck. The Aardvark struggled in his grip as it used one of its claws to stab [Y/N] in the side but he let go and move back at the last moment but it only left a shallow slash.

[Y/N] let out an instinctive yelp as he assessed the damage he'd done but it was disappointing, only visible bite marks, no blood loss, little damage.

Aardvark skin is tough and loose this helps reduce damage done to it by claws and teeth. But [Y/N] being only a baby as not so tough skin will need to be careful and play it smart as well as be patient.

[Y/N] hissed in annoyance as he circled around again, searching for an opening as he knows it might not fall for the same trick twice.

He would have to target its legs consistently to make it difficult to walk. [Y/N] charged in but as the Aardvark attempted to move forward slightly and swipe but he ducked under it and used his body again to push it to the ground, making fall on its back.

[Y/N] immediately lunged for its back legs as bit down and violently shook it around, trying to dislocate it as he let go and bit with greater force to break the bone, doing anything to assist him in this fight.

[Y/N] moved as the animal swiped at him but missed. It got up fast and immediately begin to run as [Y/N] gave chase, it wasn't as fast as the species is known for.

[Y/N] gripped its tail and pulled it back sharply with all his strength as the Aardvark skidded back towards [Y/N].

He let go and lunged down on the back of its neck, trying to deny the existence of its tough and loose skin. He bit a pulled at the skin as the blood slowly started to be seeing.

His instincts went wild as he was in frenzy. The Aardvark own instincts went haywire as primal fear overtook its functions, it struggled in a desperate attempt to escape this ancient predator.

Soon the sound of tearing fleshed reached [Y/N]'s ears as the fresh scent blood flow through his nose. [Y/N] ripped the piece of skin off, revealing the muscles inside.

As soon as the piece of skin was pulled off, the Aardvark cried out as it used this opportunity to run away.

Seeing its prey get away, [Y/N] gave chase but the Aardvark was gain distance as [Y/N] used a lot of his stamina.

He stopped running as he panted heavily, watching the Aardvark run further away before running into a burrow.

[Y/N] scoffed before turning around and eat what he pulled off, it only took him several minutes to devour it whole.

He got up, ready to head back but the scent of Aardvarks wound is like an addictive drug.

Growling, he turns around and head towards the Aardvarks den.
