Chapter 144 - CHAPTER 144

Normally, one village would only dispatch its representative after receiving approval from the other village.

However, after the two Yugito Nii informed the Fourth Raikage, A, of the situation, Yugito immediately set off for Konoha without wasting a single moment. The Raikage hastily wrote a diplomatic request and sent it to Konoha using one of Kumogakure's specially trained messenger hawks.

These messenger hawks were no ordinary birds. They were extremely difficult to train, existed only in limited numbers, and were generally two to three times faster than most shinobi travelling at normal speed. They were valuable strategic assets used for urgent communications between villages.

Even so, Yugito's pace was terrifyingly fast. The messenger hawk barely managed to keep up with her as she crossed mountains, rivers, and forests. By the time it finally delivered the message to Konoha, the exhausted bird collapsed onto the roof of a building, its wings trembling as though they had completely given out.

Meanwhile, Yugito herself continued moving at high speed.

As she approached the gates of Konohagakure, the two gate guards immediately noticed a figure rapidly approaching and stepped forward to intercept her.

With those two standing guard, even Pain and the Six Paths would not casually force their way through Konoha's entrance. Naturally, Yugito was stopped without difficulty.

"Name."

"Yugito Nii."

"Gender."

"Female."

"Affiliated village."

"Kumogakure."

"Do you have permission to enter the village?"

"Maybe… probably… possibly… yes?"

Seeing Yugito's uncertain expression, one gate guard immediately checked the latest notifications while the other remained alert and ready to restrain her if necessary.

"Wait, there was a notice sent earlier. A diplomatic representative from Kumogakure…" The guard looked at the document before nodding. "Yugito Nii. Alright, you may enter."

Unfortunately, the gate guards never gave her an opportunity to show off her strength. They simply let her pass, leaving Yugito with a strange feeling of disappointment.

Invincibility was truly lonely.

After entering Konoha, Yugito was immediately captivated by the village.

The bustling streets, thriving businesses, and modern development made it feel completely different from Kumogakure. It was as if she had entered an entirely different world.

Just as she was about to become immersed in the commercial district, Yugito suddenly shook her head.

"No! This isn't the time for sightseeing."

She forcefully suppressed her desire to shop.

" chinatsu should be at the Uchiha Clan compound, right? But where exactly is the Uchiha district now?"

Yugito muttered to herself before approaching an elderly woman on the street to ask for directions.

To her surprise, the woman immediately became vigilant.

Her eyes swept across Yugito from head to toe like a radar scanner.

"Are you looking for Chinatsu or Sasuke?"

"Chinatsu… Is there a problem?"

"No problem. Of course there's no problem."

Although she said that, the suspicious look in her eyes only intensified.

Yugito became increasingly confused.

What was going on?

She had merely asked for directions. Why was this woman acting as though she were some kind of enemy spy?

Was asking about the Uchiha Clan a taboo subject in Konoha?

The elderly woman thought to herself:

"Even though she's a woman, I still can't let my guard down. What if she's gathering information for her brothers, relatives, or friends?"

Honestly, it was all Chinatsu's fault.

She was too outstanding.

Beautiful.

Powerful.

Talented.

Rich.

The head of the Uchiha Clan.

The hero who had repeatedly protected Konoha.

Everyone in the village knew that many people from other villages were interested in her.

While they would respect whoever Chinatsu eventually chose, they still hoped she would remain in Konoha.

After all, if she married into another village, they might never see her again.

"The Uchiha compound is in that direction."

The old woman pointed decisively.

Unfortunately, the direction she indicated was the complete opposite of the actual Uchiha residence.

"I haven't seen Chinatsu recently though. She may have left the village."

Yugito thanked the woman and immediately rushed off in the indicated direction.

The elderly woman calmly pursed her lips and began whistling as though nothing had happened.

The nearby villagers who witnessed everything likewise pretended they had seen absolutely nothing.

Yugito quickly moved through Konoha's streets.

Although she felt something was suspicious, an inexplicable feeling kept urging her forward.

Then

Bang!

At a street corner, she crashed directly into the chest of a tall man.

A romantic manga encounter? (×)

A near disaster? (✓)

Yugito stumbled backward several steps.

She was about to apologize when she finally saw the faces of the people standing before her.

Her expression instantly darkened.

"It's you?!"

"Huh?"

Standing before her were Hidan and Kakuzu.

The two immediately recognized Yugito as well.

After all, Yugito was the Two-Tails Jinchūriki of Kumogakure, and in the original Akatsuki plan, Hidan and Kakuzu had specifically been assigned to capture her.

"How did you end up in Konoha? Wait…" Yugito suddenly froze.

The memories of that mysterious cloaked figure who had interfered previously resurfaced in her mind.

"That means the person who saved me before really was Uchiha Chinatsu!"

Yugito felt as though she had uncovered the truth.

Unfortunately, if she actually revealed her conclusions, at least half of the people present would probably laugh until their stomachs hurt.

Upon hearing chinatsu's name from Yugito, Hidan immediately became excited.

His fighting spirit flared.

Yugito showed no fear whatsoever.

This was Konoha.

Even though Hidan and Kakuzu were S-rank missing-nin listed in the Bingo Book, fighting them here wouldn't cause a diplomatic incident between Kumogakure and Konohagakure.

At worst, some property damage compensation would be required afterward.

"Hidan, calm down."

A calm voice sounded from behind him.

"Starting a fight in Konoha will affect Miss chinatsu. Let me handle this."

Hidan hesitated briefly before obediently stepping aside.

Yugito remained completely fearless.

One opponent.

Two opponents.

It made no difference.

She was Yugito Nii of Kumogakure, a perfect Jinchūriki candidate who could partially utilize Matatabi's power. Her confidence was as solid as steel.

Hidan moved aside.

A red-haired man slowly stepped forward from behind the group.

His eyes, bearing the concentric ripple pattern of the Rinnegan, met Yugito's gaze.

The moment their eyes met, Yugito's confidence vanished.

Her battle instincts screamed warnings throughout her body.

Danger.

Extreme danger.

The man before her was not on the same level as Hidan or Kakuzu.

Even without releasing any killing intent, Nagato Uzumaki's presence alone made Yugito feel as though she were standing before an insurmountable mountain.

For the first time since arriving in Konoha, the confident Two-Tails Jinchūriki realized something.

The people surrounding Uchiha Chinatsu were becoming more terrifying with every passing day… and the red-haired man before her was undoubtedly the most dangerous of them all.
