Chapter 17 - Chapter 17.that's all I know

************

"Triumphant and beaming with delight, Florence made her way home, her heart dancing with joy. The path to joining the illustrious Director David Morgan's elite crew was finally clear, and absolutely nothing stood in her way.

However, the moment she stepped through the doors, her expression shifted instantly. She adopted an air of profound sorrow, her shoulders slumped and her eyes filled with feigned tears.

'why are you coming back alone ?' her father inquired, sensing her distress.

Florence let out a heavy sigh, looking deeply troubled. 'Alas, Father... I witnessed her entering a lavish hotel suite accompanied by a strange man. I pleaded with her, I begged her to reconsider and come home, but she refused to listen to reason. She cast my warnings aside and chose her own path, leaving me with no choice but to return alone... heartbroken.'

A heavy silence fell over the room, thick and suffocating. Her father stood frozen and called Isabella, but there was no response. The color drained rapidly from his face as the weight of her words crashed down upon him. His hands trembled slightly, his eyes widening in a mixture of utter shock and burning fury.

'Impossible...' he whispered, his voice cracking, before rising into a roar that shook the very walls.

Madam Mary began badmouthing Isabella. 'That ungrateful child! To bring such disgrace and shame upon this noble family! I raised her with every comfort, yet she chooses to destroy her reputation in such a vulgar way!'

'She has made her bed, and now she must lie in it!' she declared sharply, Madam Mary's eyes hardening like stone. 'If she cares so little for her honor and for our name...'

Mr. Harrison sat down in silence.

Florence stood silently in the corner, her head bowed in false sympathy, while a victorious smile secretly tugged at the corners of her lips.

If only she knew what will become of her, she wouldn't have been this happy.

Her phone rang sharply, cutting through the silence. Florence glanced at the screen and answered immediately, her voice dripping with false sweetness, thinking she had been accepted. But what she heard next scattered all her daydreams.

Florence: "Hello? Manager, is everything alright?"

Manager: (Voice low and urgent) "Florence, listen to me carefully. We have a major crisis. The internet is exploding right now! Everywhere I look, there are scandalous headlines about you."

Florence: (Feigning confusion) "What? What are you talking about? What headlines?"

Manager: "They are saying you slept your way to the top! Everyone is whispering that you didn't get where you are through talent, but by spreading your legs for powerful men in this industry!"

Florence: "That is a lie! Who dares to say such things?"

Manager: "It gets worse! The rumors specifically mention your affair with our big boss, Mr. Westley. They are saying you are his secret lover and that he has been protecting you this whole time!"

Florence: (Heart pounding) "This is madness..." she panicked. "That's not possible..."

Manager: "And the most damaging part... someone has leaked the truth about your wicked plan regarding the movie! Everyone now knows that you deliberately planned to sacrifice your own sister, Isabella! They know you intended to trade her dignity just so you could secure the lead role in Director David Morgan's film!"

Manager: "The public is furious, Florence! They are calling you a manipulator, a traitor, and a homewrecker! Your name is being dragged through the mud, and your career might be over before you even join that crew."

Manager: "I have thrown every resource we have at this, Florence! We tried to suppress it, we tried to bury it deep... but it is impossible! The evidence is overwhelming, it is everywhere! Photos, messages, witnesses! Go online right now and see for yourself!"

The line went dead. Florence's hands trembled violently as she fumbled to unlock her phone. Her heart hammered against her ribs like a trapped bird as she opened her social media page.

The moment the screen loaded, she was instantly blinded by a storm of fury. Thousands of comments flooded in, each one more vicious than the last. The hashtag #HomewreckerFlorence was trending at the very top.

She clicked on it, and the comments started pouring in like a never-ending wave of venom:

"Disgrace! You are a plague to West cliff entertainment industry!"

"Get out! You don't belong here! Talentless witch!"

"How can you be so evil? Drugging your own sister? You are a monster! Just for fame..."

"Leave the industry before we drag you out! Gold digger!"

"Sleeping your way to the top is bad enough, but using your sister? Rot in hell!"

"Mr. Westley's plaything! You are nothing but a cheap toy!"

" Who knows how many directors she had slept with to gain recognition"

Her eyes widened in absolute horror as she saw the images attached to the posts.

The first photo showed her and Mr. Westley in a very intimate embrace inside his luxury office, looking far closer than just business partners. The caption read: The real reason behind her success.

The second photo was even worse. It was a clear, undeniable snapshot taken from a hidden angle, capturing her exact moment of treachery—her hand hovering over Isabella's glass, secretly dropping something into the drink.

The truth was exposed. Every dirty secret, every wicked plan, laid bare for the whole world to judge.

She continued scrolling and clicked on the comments section:

@user123: How can someone be so shameless? Destroying a home just for fame. #Homewrecker

@queenbee: She acts so innocent in front of the camera but look at her real life! Total manipulator. She used him and now she's using everyone.

@angryviewer: Disgusting behavior. You are not a professional, you are a homewrecker! Leave that family alone you witch!

@truthseeker: I knew she was fake. She twists people's minds to get what she wants. Watch out world, she'll ruin your life next.

@mrs_smith: Imagine breaking apart a family with children. You have no heart, Florence. No morals.

@hateraid: Delete your account and disappear. We don't want manipulators like you in this industry. 🗑️

Her mentions were overflowing. People had edited her photos to look ugly, made memes mocking her, and shared old videos just to leave nasty comments.

"Gold digger."

"User."

"Evil woman."

"She deserves to be chased out of the industry."

"Hope her career ends today."

Every word felt like a slap across the face. Tears blurred her vision, hot and stinging. She felt exposed, naked under the judgment of thousands of strangers who now knew the truth. The internet had turned into a mob, and they were all screaming the same thing: Manipulator. Homewrecker. Monster.

She dropped her phone on the table as if it burned her skin, unable to bear reading another word, but the noise of the hate was already ringing loudly in her ears.

Seeing the comments, Madam Mary tried to comfort her, while Mr. Harrison just sat down quietly. Then he asked, 'Where is Isabella?' in anger.

Florence refused to admit the truth. 'Dad, how can I do such a thing? She went off with a man, that's all I know!'

'Pray nothing happened to her, or else you are going to face the consequences,' Mr. Harrison warned.

Madam Mary's face was pale because their plan had been ruined. Mr. Harrison left the room and went outside, ready to go look for her. He continued calling Isabella's phone, and when the call finally connected, a man's voice was heard.

'You are disturbing her sleep. Don't call again.'

Mr. Harrison was relieved; at least she was okay. So he went back inside to his room.
